WOW - Twin Otters - haven’t seen them in a while. I was a pilot instructor for Frontier Airlines (Denver Colorado) back in the 70s. We operated ten of the dash 200 model (on wheels). As an aircraft mechanic, I am curious how they keep the salt water spray from corroding the aluminum structure of the airplane. Corrosion is always problem.

Simply amazing! I have been to the Maldives, but didn't take the sea plane. It was a speed boat that took me to one of the island resort, a long time ago. Would love to go back.

Has anybody checked the assertion that this is the biggest seaplane airport? Anchorage, Alaska used to claim that boast. I couldn’t have counted all the planes but it was a bunch. The airlines fly 737 to airports with frozen runways.

How good is that! We went to the Maldives 35 years ago. There was only one international airport, and all guests were ferried to their island resort by boat; the United Nations permitted the people in the Maldives not to have any climate change or rising sea levels. So, the enormous investment in construction has been able to forge ahead.
