Elden Ring | Failed to Load Save Data (FIX)

I use and XBOX Series X. I lost my internet right as I was selecting a Site of Grace. When I got the internet back up and running, I had this "Fail to Load Save Data" issue. Tried the fix that you showed and it 100% worked for me. Full recovery. Nothing lost. Thanks!

Idk why, but shutting it down from the settings instead of like i usually do worked.
I tried restarting the other way a few times all day on and off and it wouldn't work. Im one playthrough away from platinum, just need one more ending, have everything else. I know i could have got all endings on the one, but something went wrong and i got locked out of the fog door so decided to just do individual playthroughs

It doesn't work i lost lots of hours. I will never buy an xbox again what a bad a experience of console. It errors everything, my country is not even supported... Controls are clacky and feel super cheap. Never had any issued with Play Station.

2 months of my life just to lose all of it because of a stupid ass glitch.

Amazing that this is still a thing in this game a whole year later. Just lost 4 or 5 hours simply for saving and quitting to the menu. I guess I need to break my muscle memory and actually quit out to the Xbox home screen. Funny how that saves the game more consitently than the dedicated Save & Quit. Game of the Year!

I just cleared out the “resume game” for Elden Ring and it started right up. Give it a try, this was on Xbox series X

OUTSTANDING...I have over 300 hours in the game. I about soiled myself in my groinal region at the thought of all this hard work being lost.

I recently got a PS5 for Christmas and went to download elden ring after not have playing it for a few months but after checking both PlayStations that have save data my 60+ hours just disappeared. I have 170+ hours on the game and have all my trophies but now I have 102 hours instead idk what happened to the other 60 but if anyone knows I would really appreciate the help.

i quit to title screen from just picking up mushroom suit in that cave in game chose continue game was loaded in a death animation outside an evergaol at liurnia lakes 35 hours earlier then had to choose to reload at a stake or last grace neither gave back my lost time.

ive deleted my save data multiple times and ive full shutdowned my xbox 5 times and nothing works. i just bought the game

I lost 100 hours. Honestly, the only thing that would remedy this for me would be a FULL REFUND for the game. This is totally unacceptable

This happened to me. It's so stupid that you can't manage your own files this game should have 3 autosaves slots per character and as many manual saves as you want. Just lost like 10 hours and reading other comments I should consider myself. Ugh... I might even go outside for a bit.

Today after Xbox series x update, I lost 100 hours save in Elden ring. Only option is start new game. Already tried to clear cache. Reboot and no quick resum. Someone help please!

I cant access my 80+ hours of profile. The game actually loads however, it just sticks at the loading screen.

Is there a fix for the ps5 version….. I turn off my ps5 download my saves in the cloud and deleted saves on the consoles. Didn’t work at all… please is there a fix???

Check out GameKey54’s comment. It fixed it for me and we appeared to have the same issue

After the new patch 1.03 the game loads my saved game and only works for 2 sec and then got freeze and then close the whole game. then I create a new character and all good until i got teleported to the rounded table and the same issue happends :/

some1 tried with deleting the game, not the safe data, and reinstalling again...?

So basically you have to delete local data in the manage games and add on and then go to settings and go offline load the game it will take you through the terms of conditions and then you will get the network connection error after that go back to settings and go back online.

Shutting down my console actually worked. I had already lost a few hours of progress to this issue and idk what I would’ve done if I lost it all again, and more. Thanks for the advice

On Xbox: Settings > General > Sleep mode & startup > Full Shutdown. That fixed it for me. Good luck and I hope they fix this soon! Not cool!

Just bought the game and I was excited to play it and I’m having this issue?
I haven’t even played it before and somehow it can’t load a save file that doesn’t exist 😅

Hey could you help me out here I recently had a free copy on Elden ring as I waited to be able to purchase the game. So I finally did that today backed up the save file and brought and installed the fully steam copy of the game. And I copied and pasted the old save data and put it in app data and into the save folder stems mad and when loading the game I get a error “can’t load save data” any idea how to fix this ?
