I'm not going to go into too much details but , If you use something called Madsheep tool to build your Game Menu it will pretty much eliminate loading times for the GDmenu app. Make sure to tick the menu box and you won't even see the loading screen. I have a 200GB SD card full and don't even seen the text "loading" screen. Also make sure SD Card is Formatted to Fat32. STAY - WICKED everybody.

If someone told me in those days this would be possible in the future, i think i would have laughed. Really not understandable why they sell no full sets...

Does some games have sound issues? This happens by big games when they where ripped at bad quality to enable burning on a CD.

You can improve start times using the windows tool that will build out the directory structure.

These things are cool. But once you play dreamcast on nvidia shield at 1080p using redream......yeah I cant go back.

SD cards are finicky with the GDEMU. I have had the best luck with a 128 PNY .. it takes roughly 25 seconds to boot a 100 games

if u connet the sd card to your pc and u use the Gdemu App to open the sd card, you can fix the long waiting time of the boot, is just a botton click!

Great review, Mr. WGC. I'm just as picky as you when it comes to sloppy tinkering like this where you have a blue PAL spiral on the case, but it boots up as a Jap system. Not acceptable at all, and neither is sending you 2 x small memory cards instead of the larger size expected. Okay, not a bad deal for collectors and lovers of modded consoles, I suppose, but if I were playing a Dreamcast, I'd prefer the classic way of loading from disc. That's proper retro.

Aha the SD card version! Too bad about 2x 128GB cards. Like it better than the hard drive one at least.

I bought my Dreamcast the first day it came out at Toys R Us. A few years later at the same store they were selling Dreamcast controllers and VMUs marked down to 90 cents each. I bought every single one they had.

@Wicked Gamer & Collector there are two possible reasons that your system came with two cards instead of one a) initial loading times for the menu (which can be negated, as someone else has already mentioned, using the GDEmu SD Card Maker), and b) some Chinese Clone GDEmu devices have an older firmware that only supports folders with two digit numbers and not three digits like newer firmwares for the official GDEmu have added, so cards larger than 128GB would be a waste when filled with either GDI or CDI game images.

I’ve put in the time to figure all this out. Yes, use the Mad Sheep tool to improve boot times, but sometimes it’s a bad GDI or CDI file that causes the long boot times. IMO long boot times aren’t contingent on the memory card you use, it’s all about how you set it up. Took me hours of trial and error to find 2 or 3 bad rips from Replay that was causing my long boot times. It’s a great setup after you work through all the issues and can boot up with hundreds of games instantly

Love your videos, I needed to watch this right away! It does not come with a controller because you're supposed to have four of them already, as well as the adapter that lets you use your Saturn Twin Sticks on the Dreamcast.

It's a neat option certainly. I have two Dreamcasts. The laser on one of them is completely dead. It arrived that way from eBay. :(

The other one works but makes a horrible racket and needs some lubrication.
