Neurofibromatosis. They can easily be removed, something we take for granted in modernized society. I wouldn't say that it is incredibly rare, because I've seen several cases of it. It might be fairly rare, but not incredibly rare.
Let's hope he gets full treatment, because he deserves it! I know not all of them will be removed.
