I've got the Dayton RS180-4P (paper cone version) along with the aluminum dome Reference tweeters in the front doors of my car and I can't think of ANY car audio marketed drivers that can compete with the clarity, bass and overall performance of them for the cost.
*drivers are powered by SKAR RP75.4, active crossover used, 4Khz HP on tweeters, 80hz - 4Khz bandpass on 7" midbass. Subwoofer is Sundown Audio U-series 18" powered by MMATS Hifi4250 bridged
Do you sell the plans for this ?
ОтветитьAny idea what happened to Kirby? he has not made a new video in about 4 years.
ОтветитьWould we havé thé dame résultat with thé RS 180 at 8 OHMS? Thank you
ОтветитьDo you also check in xSim off-axis responses with a crossover you had optimised for good on-axis response?
ОтветитьMay I get a parts list for this crossover please.
ОтветитьI would have loved to see a build and review/comparison video on this speaker.
ОтветитьI'm confused by the crossover order statement. Since they both only have one component going to ground aren't they both 1st order crossovers?
Ответитьwhy do none of your videos show the frequency below 100hz
ОтветитьDude, do you use tin speaker wires, I dont think so. Twist your crossover components together and use solder to hold them in place or use copper jumpers if they don't reach. I like your videos but nothing is better than the weakest link. Hope this helps.
ОтветитьHello. Would the crossover design still work If I replace the metal cone driver with the paper version. Dayton audio makes the same exact woofer with paper material that I'd rather use.
ОтветитьSomewhat related question, as I trust your knowledge. What do you think of the TriTrix MTM from PartsExpress? As I am seriously considering it for an easy first build.
Ответитьparts list in Europe is considerable more. brings it to 410 US
ОтветитьHow about a headphone listen? I'm curious as to why you'd hesitate to use an air inductor instead and some mills resistors, yeah I know it would cost a little more but that's why we don't trust the speaker business. Huge prices with crappy crossovers. Just a thought friend.
ОтветитьAwesome video! May I ask you for an advice? Simple answer is enogh.. I have a perfect offer for DS270-8, which I think cannot be paired with just a tweeter well..but don't have budget for 3 way.. I would like to pair it with full range and cross around 800hz. As the DS270 is quite high sensitivity (90db), what sensitivity of the full range do you recommend as minimum to match the final SPL? Mostly I can find about 85db to fit my budget. Thank you in advance!
ОтветитьSo how does this compare and contrast to the Amiga?
ОтветитьCan i change the speakers for the 3 inch ones
ОтветитьHello like your video on crossover. i dont much about crossover parts wish i seen this before i built my hivi 3.1 kit. really good sound. not sure if you know these speaker but there a upgrade that i can do to really make them sign. would you know what i need to upgrade them and where i can buy kit ??? thanks so much for any help
ОтветитьWhat soldering station are you using?
Ответитьwould nice to here from during biuld of it
Ответитьhi I want to build this, the resitor link is down, I made the sound bard from your free plans and I love it, I would like to build these, what are the resistors? hi from Chile
ОтветитьThe plans for these are no longer available on your Etsy store Nick. And what the heck happened to Kirby Meets Audio? He's been incognito for the past 2 years.
ОтветитьGreat video. Would you say MT speakers like this with the 180s would be loud enough for a 22x17 room for a home theater or would you go MTM. Also it looks like the drivers are rated at 60w without the tweeter. If I ran a 100w/channel on an MTM I'd be a bit under fully powering both the drivers excluding the tweeter. Would I lose a decent amount of low extension being slightly underpowered like that?
ОтветитьWe need an updated one bro.
ОтветитьAnyone here build this speaker yet ?
Ответитьbaffle dimensions? and can we curve the edges a little bit?
ОтветитьThe crossover needs to be designed from the acoustical output of the speaker, not the free air FR of a driver.
ОтветитьHey! thanks for the video! what's the software that you're using to design the speakers called? thank you!
ОтветитьWell done! I have subscribed to too many channels all ready. I thought I was done! I had no choice but to follow. Thanks from a novice speaker builder and searcher of audiophile bliss.
ОтветитьThanks alot for this. Let's say tweeter sensitivity is 90dB and woofer is 94dB does that mean the matching won't work ? I just need to understand speaker sensitivity a little better . Obviously assume a level equaliser input.
ОтветитьI liked this video. I particularly liked your reasoning for where to cross-over based on off axis response graph of the woofer. Of course all things require compromises and in a 2 way design 1800 Hz is pretty tough for the tweeter (hence the need for the 3rd order high pass filter on the tweeter I guess). I would like to see more of your videos so I am subscribing to your channel.
Ответитьwhat was the measured finished product
ОтветитьI know its been over a year on this video but in reference to your response to using an 8 ohm over a 4 ohm. Can i use this crossover with (2) 4 ohm RS180-4 speakers in series without modifying the design?
ОтветитьIm gonna build these :) thanks man!!
if I wanted to switch the tweeter to a ribbon tweeter, which tweeter is the best alternative for this crossover?
How do you know you need a third order crossover vs a first order?
ОтветитьDo you have cabinet info on the ones you show in this video? Is there a port on the rear? Could these be done as a transmission line type...isolating a tweeter compartment?
ОтветитьIs this video sponsored by mountain dew?
ОтветитьMy wife would kill me if I soldered on our kitchen table.
ОтветитьIf I connection 8 ohm woofer and 4 ohm tweeter to the cross over what should be the total impedance of the speaker. Does it change the impedance after connecting the speaker to the cross over . Or how to calculate the speaker impedance with cross over output, I want in 8 ohm or 6 ohm.
anyone pls replay ...
You don't need to worry about beaming above 7khz because there is no musical information in frequencies above 7khz.
ОтветитьThat driver looks like it might be a good candidate for a large 3-way bookshelf using a soft dome mid-range and an air motion tweeter..just a thought for somebody might have the time and the place to experiment with it
ОтветитьThere is absolutely no comparisson between surround system and a stereo .
ОтветитьIs it possible to do a clone of the Elac UB 5 that can be a DIY? Is that even possible?
ОтветитьWhat do do think of the Swan 3.1 kit?
ОтветитьHow would you compare these to the Hivi 3.1a speakers?
ОтветитьGreat project. Appreciate the efforts put in. Can you please share the exterior dimensions of the cabinet. Height , depth, width
