How To Speed Up and Slow Down a Video

anytime i speed up the edit AT ALL it just looks choppy. doesnt matter the FPS its always choppy. what am i doing wrong?

Hello, do you know how I can change dimensions of a video that was not shot by a phone so it looks like it was shot by a phone. What sort of editing tool should I use?

This program (while somewhat useful) is MISSING THE BASICS ! Wondershare put tons of attention of the FX while the most basic stuff suffers.

I need to edit 40 transitions in one shoot (i.e. change time) = IMPOSSIBLE
I want to edit properties of 50 short clips (ie. transparency) = IMPOSSIBLE
I want to combine (join 12) clips into one = IMPOSSIBLE
I want to export partial timeline (so I can send it for preview) = IMPOSSIBLE
I want to zoom In/Out with the keyboard, with the mouse = either IMPOSSIBLE or super jerky
I want a fine-tuning of certain value (Up/Down with the cursor key) = IMPOSSIBLE
I want to edit grouped clips (i.e. speed) = IMPOSSIBLE
I want to .... there is probably much more I cannot do. That is what I discovered just on few weeks...
Rendering single track ? = IMPOSSIBLE
Exporting selected tracks and skipping others = IMPOSSIBLE
Exporting without audio = IMPOSSIBLE
Posting on official Wondershare Forum = IMPOSSIBLE

and I have not mentioned bugs, yet...
and I have not mentioned 3 crashes (in one day, where at the end it asks you to send a crash report which doesn't work)
editing shortcuts incompatible with other major video editors and lots of other minor issues (not crucial, but annoying)

All the features above are available in my old CAMTASIA 2019 and are available in PREMIERE ELEMENTS, RESOLVE (free) and many other programs. I think that Wondershare developers need to change the course and potential buyers should wait until those MAJOR ISSUES are fixed. I like Filmora interface (despite some limitations) and company support is not bad (comparing with others), but FILMORA 12 is not ready for serious use unless you create project with 3-5 video clips (recorded on your own Cam). Access to on-line files is also super slow and should be used only as a backup (but that is secondary). I also do not like the paid FX showing up on the GUI list (or at least there should be an option to disable/hide paid FX).
Export sucks. I have 86min project and it takes forever to export (even that I have super fast CPY with 64Gb RAM)

The only thing that partially justifies the missing features is Filmora low price, but having (as they claim) 10 million users this company should add those missing features in a matter of weeks.
As of January/2023 I do not recommend buying this program. In its current stage FILMORA isn't a god choice.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but is there a way to slow down everything at once? I have music synced perfectly with video, but if i slow down video the music stays the same. If i slow down music, the video stays the same. I just want the red line to move slower...!

Also, when i slow down music to add accurate beat markers, they don't sync when i make the music normal speed again. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Oh no!!! I now only see DURATION as an option when I right click .... not SPEED & DURATION. How can I get it back to this setting? I change speed & used freeze frame all the time in my videos but now can't figure out how to with the changed format. thx!!

there is no speed option, just duration, and it doesn't do what I need.

there are many options that are not showing like speed and duration audio setting
when you click on export it is asking for email id. while saving in desktop whole operation is saved in place of just video. Can you help

HI i have a question . I am new to editing but doing advanced work. choreography. For for example I have to parts where the edits are exactly to the timing but then I need to fill in the middle of it. Just with footage. But I dont want to move the edits. is there a tool that fills the space if you choose the footage something like that.

So the slo-mo is smooth only if the video is shot in 60fps or higher right?

But if there is just one section of a video that needs speed adjustment, what do we do? This seems the common situation. Is there no way we can set a starting point of the speed change? That would mean we have to cut in a video, make the change in one part, glue it back together and hhope for the best?

Can I slow up a video from an mp4 digitization of a super8 film (normally 18fps) in order to achieve proper motion.
Note…normal frame rate selections in Filmora don’t go that low.

But what if I only want the speed of the editor to be sped up so that the editing process doesn't take so long? With Vegas products I only had to press "L" a couple of times, and it would play at double the speed instead of changing the speed of the video itself. That's the information I've been trying to look for.

I am trying to speed up a clip just enough to match a beat in the piece of music I'm using. The speed is currently at 2.0. I have been trying to change it to 1.95. But Filmora will not take the input. It always goes back to 2.0 after I click OK. What am I doing wrong?
