The Panasonic GH5 is NOW a Perfect Camera!

Quick update since there are a lot of comments about the autofocus.  

I will not keep using the continuous autofocus. Its better then it used to be, but if you need a camera with rock solid autofocus I continue to not recommend the GH5.  

It has PLENTY of ways around needing continuous autofocus but if you have to have it I recommend something like the 90d or a6400.

I found a GH5 for $300, looks clean, no scratches or dings at all. For my film project, can I match it with my Panasonic DVX 200? I don't want to work too hard in post. This is my first film project, and I'm trying to stick to my budget. I'm also new to this camera stuff, learning as I go, and having fun. Enjoyed your video. Thanks!

IF One Does But The Other Doesn't ..PLEASE Tell Me Which One Does & Which Does NOT? Or IF Both DO?
I'M Of Course Wanting One That Just Spits OUT One Big FILE & Not a TON Of Multiple Small 2 GB FILES That Need Special Software Stitching Together?

This is a fantastic camera and I love it.
But using the oldest trick of every basic magician to focus the attention on an area on (your) the left to avoid that the people are looking to (your) the right where the focus from the lamp is pulsing and pulsing and pulsing the whole video trough is simply stupid.
But your video is nice and I'm agree with your opinion on this awesome camera.
But still - and we are now in 2022 and there is already a GH6 in the market - the autofocus problem is a problem.
And it will be like this till Panasonic is able to control it or has changed to another technology.
Period.

I’m surprised you can’t just download autofocus software onto your camera. I don’t get it.

My work place offered me a brand new Gh5 for £480 .
I currently shoot weddings and events with my Nikon Z6.
I want to experiment shooting videos.
What do you guys think.
Should I get it?

Can it shoot 2 hours non stop 4k footage without overheating in 30°Celcius indoors?

I have a Canon 80D with kit lens 18-135mm, but I don't feel confident with it, the video footage seems abit soft and not sharp enough. Should I try different lenses? I've thought about buying the M50 but even unsure now since seeing the Lumix GH5

I watched this in Feb 2022, until now there is no camera can match to its price with GH5 II camera quality in video.. period.

Leave the camara, your energy it'self would make any camera image good.

What were u using at the start of vid?

I find the GH5s to be a wonder, it has great utility and useability, but it is a Videographers camera, not a film-makers camera. If you are looking at shooting filmic content with a high emphasis on low depth of field like my work. Then greatly consider full-frame cameras, as they offer a far greater level of filmic possibilities.

Appreciate this one! I've been rockin with my G85 for YEARS and finally decided to upgrade. I was leaning towards Sony but maaaannn this just saved me hahaha. Think I'll be sticking with the Panasonic fam!

Actually when you look to the lamp on the left, it's significantly wobbly.

Micro four third is still micro four third..
Bad low light..
Annoying crop factor..
Poor DOF..

Who’s watching this in 2021 and thinking about getting a gh5??? Even knowing the gh6 is coming soon this guy is making me think about getting a gh5 just for the hell of it lol

Hi Gary! I just bought the GH5 after seeing a number of very positive reports, but it was one of yours that pushed me over the edge to run out and buy it! What Has stumped me since is the memory cards. There are so many conflicting reports as to which to buy, from inexpensive, which are all out of stock, to the very expensive which not surprisingly at $400 are readily available! Could you please advise, which in your opinion, you use that are reliable and cost effective?

Interestingly in your gear list I see Sony A6400 and another camera but no Gh5 I don't understand....

What you can say about lumix s5? Is it better then gh5?

Yeah....your 90d and a6400 might be the star students and win the autofocus competition, but in the back alley after school, my GH5 sells drugs to your star sudents!!

Great review, and yes I reckon the AF is actually excellent - do heaps of p to c to camera on a tripod for example and works superbly, even in low light of a jungle Plus prefer the greater depth of field

What kind of computer or laptop do I need to edit video, especially 4K video?

Camera companies give you bare bones cameras for a reason it takes great picture but they one sd card slot you have to Waite 5 variations later to get everything g the fist model should have had . They do this to keep selling you the same camera with little upgrades and it’s bull shit

If you don't use AF for video, it really is the perfect camera. But for manual focusing and autofocusing for photography, GH5 is more than capable.
