One time I was on a luxury cruise line, and my room was in shockingly bad order. So, my advice is if your room is really messed up, don't hesitate to reach out to your agent. I sent my travel agent photos of the room, which spoke volumes, and she forwarded them to the national director of sales for the line within the hour. By dinnertime, every single problem had been fixed, and I had a personal visit from the officer who managed housekeeping. There were no other problems during this trip, and had a great cruise.
ОтветитьAbsolutely fabulous advice. We appreciate you taking the time to film. Happy sailings!
ОтветитьAlways sanitize have done this for decades
ОтветитьWipe remote , fill up safe, check video of muster and head out to explore ship, doesn't take me long
ОтветитьI am a nurse. Yes!!! I bring my Lysol wipes and gloves too!
ОтветитьThanks for your great help.
ОтветитьMy husband calls me "Lysol Lisa"! 😂😂 I just cruised on the carnival Mardi Gras from August 19 to 26th. I noticed the bathroom was not cleaned. It was dirty and the shower had hair on the floor. The balcony tables, chairs, and floor was filthy. I told him about it. He apologized. I asked for my bed to be changed. My husband thought I was doing too much. But I said if he didn't clean the bathroom, he probably didn't change the sheets! I know they have a small amount of time for turnaround and another of cabins to clean.
ОтветитьLove The magnetic hooks tip. Already in my Amazon shopping cart.
ОтветитьIlena, this is our first cruise. We are going to Alaska on Holland America. I found that we are going to be charged $30 a day/person for our cabin attendant. What do they provide and is it really worth it?
ОтветитьThis video is essential!!!! If you want to stay organized.. make an outline of this lecture. Many important things that one forgets to do in all the hoopla and excitement. Thank you!!!!!!
ОтветитьDon't forget to check for bed bugs
ОтветитьI do tip on the first day, and throughout the cruise. The daily service charge is split up amongst pretty much EVERYONE - the room steward might get pennies of it. For a 7-day cruise, my goal is $50. I also get on the ship with tons of $1 bills for my bartenders. :) Every drink, a buck.
ОтветитьMore and more new ships are non magnetic material for their walls so it’s sometimes hard to find a place to use the magnetic hooks.
ОтветитьWish you were in my cabin when I walked in. 😊
ОтветитьWe bring a portable extension cord that has usb and standard plugs. There doesn't seem to be many outlets in the rooms or in a convenient spot. Don't forget the cords to all of your electronics!!!
ОтветитьI like to prepay gratuities and then I will tip extra at the end if the stateroom attendant goes above and beyond (which they normally do).
ОтветитьAs a travel agent I usually travel with a group of friends. Before leaving home I type a list of all the couples names with their cabin number. I print it and take it with me along with scotch tape. I will tape the list on the wall directly above the telephone in my stateroom. This way I don't have to remember where all my friends staterooms are located in case I need to call them in their stateroom. The list makes it easy. If there aren't enough hangers (there never is) I will hang 3 tops onto each hanger. If I want to try to keep my wardrobe down to a minimum I decide what I'm going to wear each day based on the activities/excursions we are doing. I type the list of what I'm going to wear each day and print it. I tape the list to the inside of the closet door so that each day I look at the list, pull out that outfit for the day and don't have to worry about what to wear. Upon meeting the stateroom attendant I him/her to make sure our ice bucket is filled each day and that we have extra towels each day.
ОтветитьI clean..it isn't usually clean enough. I sanitize. I check for bed bugs. I test the remote and safe and phone. i test the lights and hot water. Nothing like being naked and finding out the hot water doesn't work! i call for extra towels and pillows as well. I talk to my steward as soon as i can. if my bags have come i unpack right away and get organized.
ОтветитьAs always, Ilana, great tips! Keep up the great work!
ОтветитьNo candles are allowed in cabins right?
ОтветитьVery usefull speech
ОтветитьHi
Wanted to share that princess cruise has the best closet space. It’s in a hallway space that goes into the bathroom. Just great
I do tip the cabin attendant when I meet them as I ask for extra towels and advise them on sea days I sleep longer.
ОтветитьI always bring wipes and lysol when I visit a hotel just in case. Thank you for these tips. Just booked a cruise and your tips have been helpful
ОтветитьI think It's called " CRUISE FEVER !" ILana ...... L.o.l. I know the feeling! Was just on the Oasis of the seas Last week !
ОтветитьI always sanitize the cabin and hotel, making me feel better, I always do this on the air plane as well before I sit down.
ОтветитьPeople who still believe in germ theory. hahah. I suggest doing yourself a favor and taking the time to learn about the contagion myth and how it has been disproven over and over again. It's a money making and control scheme.
ОтветитьAt 1st, if you want more room in the cabin, ask to remove the table from the room (RCL).
If you want to open the balcony door, that goes to the next balcony.
My #1 thing is the wipe down, since my 1st trip in 1975.
ОтветитьCruise room prep list would be a great addition to your cruise planner😊
Ответитьme too!!! i too took my lysol wipes in 2019 in NCL DAWN!!!! i had wipe everything down!!!!
ОтветитьGREAT ! I Told my Wife to follow all of Your Tips and do all of them while I go to the Pool and get a drink and relax so I'm not in the Way
ОтветитьI always bring my international power convertor as it comes in handy when you need additional outlets in the cabin. Some outlets on ships are the euro 220 type and the convertor gets me more US 110 outlets. It has USB ports too! Those definitely come in handy.
Ответить#1 is also important to make sure so you point out what is not working or already broken
ОтветитьI've discovered that tipping ahead of time is the best thing going! At a bar, hotel, restaurant or wherever. I usually tip my cabin steward $30-$40 at the beginning of the cruise and I'm well taken care of.
ОтветитьOn you # 8 tip. I would that too because I know they have a hard job. This cruse I did a pre tip when I booked cruse. Should I do extra, like if I need something pressed.
ОтветитьI always sanitize especially the tv remote!!! 🤢
ОтветитьI always leave a note for the cabin attendant, who is likely to come by while I'm out of the room: I like a SOFT bed so please remake the bed with an egg crate or foam under the bottom sheet. Please provide two regular-size pillows in place of the enormous ones. I will need extra hangers, lots of hangers, and wire ones are fine. I will need two wine glasses and a bucket of ice every evening, and please slide the suitcases under the bed once they are empty. Thanks!
ОтветитьI understand how important sanitizing is when you first enter your cabin, but I would think that it needs to be done every time the cabin cleaners go in. No? I doubt they use separate washing cloths/rags for each cabin. Using the same cloth from cabin A, which is infected with the nonovirus, and cabin B brings the virus to cabin B.
ОтветитьThe very first thing we do after entering our cabin or hotel room is use our disinfecting wipes to clean everything!! We've been doing this forever. Not that we don't think the room/cabin is clean - we just feel safer knowing we have disinfected "all the things." Our Cabin Steward actually caught us one time during our cleaning frenzy and she said: "I wish every passenger would do exactly what you are doing!" She, like us, were all for preventing cross contamination! Had to giggle about the suggestion to check everything to make sure it works.... The second day of a Caribbean cruise, I opened the drawer to retrieve the hair dryer. Plugged it in and started to use it. Smoke began to billow out of it. Obviously, I immediately unplugged it and called for a replacement. We called for five straight days to get a replacement hair dryer, to no avail. The day before returning to home port, we heard a knock on the door - hooray - a new hair dryer, which by this time we really didn't need - LOL!!! Needless to say, we were NOT happy about that!!! I now pack a small travel size hair dryer on every trip!! :-)
ОтветитьOnly one more is sanitizer the TV remote. Thanks for your valuable vlog.
ОтветитьI wipe down in the hotels every time.
ОтветитьGreat tips thank you. Boarded Celebrity recently in Barcelona, check in time was 1pm, we arrived at 12 noon - no problem, no one checking times, reasonable checkin queue time.
ОтветитьAll really good tips. Thanks! Don’t forget to also disinfect the tv remote control😊
ОтветитьA wipe down is a must! My family and I have been doing it for years when we travel. I also check the bed linen, mattress and drawers for bedbugs.
ОтветитьI always wipe down the cabin upon arrival. Also, everything on the airplane as well. And I might add that I do the same for hotel rooms and rental cars as well. I just don’t feel that cleaning is done much anymore, I am pretty sure airlines quit the overnight COVID cleaning, as every time I wipe down areas on planes, stuff is always dirty. Happy Trails !
ОтветитьBring decoration for your cabin door. They all look alike at night coming back to your cabin. Nobody wants you trying to get in, rattling door knobs etc. or if friends come to meet in your cabin, might forget room. Umber but look for the big orange pumpkin etc.
ОтветитьHi Ilana, thanks for another great video. First, I purchased magnetic hooks for our last cruise after seeing one of your videos & I won’t go without them; awesome tip. I also take a photo before adding our stuff. Didn’t think about sanitizing but will remember for next time. My husband’s & I always introduce ourselves to the cabin steward & we also like watching the loading of the ship…it really is an interesting process.
ОтветитьI tip at end to cabin stewart
