Wow incredible experiment
ОтветитьI was drag racing my m340i LCI with M3 a few times and I noticed that my brakes are a disaster… I have M Sport 348 mm front brakes which are 4-pistons. Would it make a difference in braking performance if I change them to M Performance brakes with 374mm rotors? Unfortunately they are also 4-pistons… or should I put non standard X5M 6-piston brakes for my car ? xD please advise
ОтветитьAnd here i am with a Brembo BBK on my CRV. LOL.
ОтветитьI have a BMW F30 that had OEM brakes approaching near the end of its life. The dealership wanted to charge my exorbitantly. My friend who has a workshop offered to replace my brakes with BBK and re-code the ECU for the same price. It was a no brainer to switch to BBK at that time.
ОтветитьMost people might not need bigger brakes, but both the M Sport and M Performance brakes make the car look sooo much better than the standard brakes with floating calipers.
ОтветитьWater cooled disks 🤯
ОтветитьVery clear and concise presentation, while I have not watch all vid's on brakes this made the most sense out of any I have watched.. Thanks
ОтветитьSometimes big brake kits are necessary for reliability on track or on race cars. For example the M2, M240i, and M235i I have seen in the past have caliper failures where the bolts holding the calipers together yield under heavy braking causing the brake fluid passage to open up
ОтветитьNice setup but way over priced for me
Ответитьso there's performance benefit at braking from 65mph about 1/4 of car length shorter?
ОтветитьAwesome video, thanks!
ОтветитьHol up, is your front right rotor disc on backwards? Shouldn't the slots be going the other way?
ОтветитьWas there any reason why you chose AP racing over brembo
Ответитьim looking to down size my stock big brake from 410mm to 380mm so i can run 18" wheels instead of 20" wheels. get more better tires for the track...
ОтветитьIt might also have been worth noting that the carbon ceramic rotors chip easily if you accidentally hit your wheels against them when mounting and dismounting your wheels
ОтветитьC- or J hook is to have grooves to clean the pad off and remove glaze quickly if you overheat it... but at the same time not introduce a linear/radial weakness.
Ultimately for track use you should not use steel disks more than 2 years and replace them at the signs of any crazing.
$9000 on a big brake kit? Most will say nope, that is a turbo or supercharger or heads, cam, intake and full exhaust money.
I’m all in at $2200 on a big brake kit on my 2004 GTO, using CTSv, C6 Corvette and 5th gen Camaro SS parts. The custom caliper brackets were about 20% of the cost. 14” front rotors, 13.6” rear rotors and 4 piston Brembos all around. Best braking car I have ever owned and is still one of my favorite mods I have done to my GTO, for both performance and looks. The same full on kit from Wilwood, Brembo or Harrop is easily $5000 or more depending on parts selection. Brakes are one of those modifications people don’t like to do because it can cost a lot of money that they would rather put elsewhere.
$9000!?!
ОтветитьMore brake torque from bigger calipers do matter and do shorten brake disrance when the tire is high grip.
At high speeds, a small caliper would not be able to get near locking with high grip tires because the small caliper lacks brake torque necessary to utilize the grip available.
At low speeds however, a small caliper would get to locking as much as a big caliper would.
With lower grip tires, a small caliper would be sufficient perhaps even at high speed braking
It’s the feel on the brembo 4 pots. They are terrible.
ОтветитьIm going for the m performance brakes on my 440i just because my m sport brakes look tiny on my 20" wheels 🤣
ОтветитьYou mean 900$ right?
Ответитьso, no way to improve distance brake? for example highway emergency brake! because i bought bmw 230i 2022 and i don't like the brake! my old honda accord way better, it was smooth and short distance. bmw's brake not comfort. i feel in my foot like a bone feeling from abs. so any advice ?
Ответитьgood video. If I track 1-2times a year I can't justify dropping 2.5k~ for a BBK for the fronts knowing that it may at most maybe shave off 1-1.5s off my lap times?
ОтветитьBig brake kits just like fancy phone cases, not everyone needs them, but still a good trade
Ответить9000???
ОтветитьPut some eggs on that disc, mmm
Ответитьif im running the 6 pots upfront, do i need to upgrade the rear to maybe 2 or 4 pots?
ОтветитьDo big brake kits mess up the ABS+stability control at all? It seems that it might stop the wheels differently and then turn on the ABS/stability service lights.
ОтветитьHow do you get live cockpit in an f80
Ответитьyou guys don’t miss with content
Ответитьmine f80 use AP competition kit run on the track with great response and no fade, however the noise and the dust is crazy... plus, competition has no dust boots and so you have to clean the piston more often
ОтветитьQuestion, how comparable is it if you upgraded the rotors and pads instead of going to a bigger brake kit? Also if you get new pads, upgraded pads, would you have to resurface the stock rotors if you were to just swap out the pads?
ОтветитьYou cannot reason with people on this. They want to drive to the shops and back and genuinely believe that dropping 2 grand on brakes will make them stop faster. You can demo stopping distances over and over but you get the same glazed look and "but they're bigger so they're better"
ОтветитьBrian great video, love the channel but I need advice. I got a 2020 F36 430i xDrive and want to upgrade my brakes and rotors. BMW tells me there is no option to do this, any thoughts or suggestions.
ОтветитьI feel like the biggest lagger in my m4 is the brakes. On the track they just don’t hold up. Before buying a bbk, I will try out performance pads first though.
ОтветитьSave weight by removing breaks all together. Who needs breaks to go fast
ОтветитьThe editing on this one made me feel like I was in a fever dream lol
ОтветитьThey worth it my stock brakes smoke when Ever im braking to hard.
ОтветитьWhy not just change the pad material for a more track oriented compound and switch back to street after?
ОтветитьTHOUGHTS ON A 328D MODEL?
ОтветитьBuy a new 7 series
ОтветитьI have those Janoskis as well. Best colorway ever for that shoe IMO
ОтветитьYou paid 9k usd for that? 😂
ОтветитьGreat insight, loved it!
ОтветитьDo y’all make msport kits for a f34 335i?
ОтветитьIf you have the CCB setup, you can also swap out the friction hardware for "iron" components, instead of keeping the CC bits. So you'll have the CCB look, but instead, run 2 piece iron rotors and the necessary pads. 9 sets for the same price as the CCB replacement.
You can also upgrade from the stock CCB pads, which aren't that great, to the pagid CCB pads, with the OE CCB rotors for real track worthy stopping power. 👍
The deer skit 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьHow much performance do I gain if i paint my stock calipers red? 🙃
ОтветитьI love how Bryan explain things he would been a good high school teacher
Ответить
