Apparently the RPD is also immune to jamming at least from durability. I'm not sure if this extends to ammo feeding but either way its something to keep in mind.

Having shot M249 and M249b LMGs, I can say the lack of recoil is absolutely accurate. It is far easier to use an M249 than an M4 because of the weight of the gun and the length of the barrel.

The trade off is obviously the weight and ammo burn rate. If you’re crying to have it nerfed just keep asking for that to change. The recoil, especially if braced, is next to nothing with crew serves.

You can also drag your rpd into second weapon slot, this will make you unarmed so you can reload through context menu skipping the animation.

Machine guns actually tend to be better at long range than assault rifles; added weight helps control recoil, and the greater volume of fire tends to result in more hits. Using machine guns to spray a general area may be less efficient from the standpoint of ammo consumption than using a scoped rifle, however.

Its a machine gun. You don't need to use the sights for long range. Just aim in the general direction and you'll probably hit a guy.

generally speaking machine guns can have a very good MOA due to it having a long barrel and higher weight but sacrificing ergonomics and mobility. idk what the RPD's irl MOA is but similar LMGs are about a 1 MOA. that being said the actual SR25 usually is sub 1 MOA. this could be because from what I understand tarkov got actual schematics from the Kalashnikov company in Russia so their data may just be more accurate on Russian weapons. no clue if they did the same for western weapons. likely not as there are a lot of laws about providing military schematics to civilians in foreign countries lol

Sawed off RPD was so OP that SEALs and MACV SOG operators in Vietnam would ditch their M60s when they found one. Even after the USM issued out the Stoner, the RPD sawed off was still preferred.

Today I found a RPD short as a scav on customs and near the end of the raid with 3 minutes remaining I found a PMC that had really good loot. He died after I shot half the magazine into his direction.

all you need is a 357 chiappa, a RSH, a usp45/1911, or a Pl-15 and that short range issue becomes more or less a non issue unless you plan on running in the open on shorline/lighthouse

The RPD doesn't use mags, so of course it's not going to jam versus a gun that is using drums.

I found an RPD on a dead scav at 44 durability could not repair it any further and it still ran 2 100 round belts with no failures. This thing is so stupid 😂😂
