A mod tier list would be great.

I have a hard time seeing how Sunken Treasures is an S-Tier DLC. Sure you get a big island, but thats about it.
That is nearly nothing. I have close to a 1000 hours of anno 1800 and i havent cared to utilize it because the rest has more than enough.
You could entirely skip that dlc and not miss out on any content. Of course if you like to build a big city then its nice. But building a big city in Crowns Falls is not necessary to experience the game, so by the logic used to rank the rest of the dlc's its basically optional.

Dude perfect way to summarize a dlc tierlist. Some videos are annoying to watch. This concept/way of showing the dlc is perfect. Well made video :)

Wow what an amazing video, thank-you so much, I'd already bought the whole game with all DLC in the latest steam sale but this really compartmentalised it all and got me excited to play it! Have you done/would it be possible for you to do the cosmetic packs next?

I like this list because it gives a good base line for players to start with and obviously everyone's play style and interests are different, but I have to strongly disagree with a couple of the picks.

Firstly I would swap tourist season with docklands.
-Docklands adds a game changing way to manage and trade resource's especially on harder difficulty's where some resources are easy to mass produce and trade for more difficult resources, Or late a handful of game resources can completely eliminate early game production lines like schnapps and fish, freeing up much needed coast line and land area.
-The second side of this being tourist season. It add some interesting mechanics and new ways to boost income, but is essentially a glorified cosmetic DLC that can distract from main production lines and game play.

The second major change I would make is downgrading The Land of Lions to at least recommended. It is a big DLC, adds lots of new content, and I would agree the university should be separate because it alone adds alot of value. But the land of lions and embessa as a whole has several major cons.
- As mentioned its the most expensive
- It adds a ton of extra production chains, new population, and more land to manage. So... the new world.. but Africa. None of the new resources are essential, it more land to manage in an already pretty busy game, and it feels like a re skinned new world.
- Lastly, while it does add a good amount of expedition and story, I find the embessa story line and route to the university quite tedious and distracting. Its alot of back and forth grabbing stuff from islands and pseudo diplomacy between the tribes, which just starts to feel like a mini game after awhile (literally a mini version of anno inside anno). Its entirely too long and requires alot of micro managing.

I might also bump empire of the skies up to essential but I think that is a personal opinion. Recommended is probably a fair placement, you made some good points about its complexity and addition of new systems which might be a bit much for someone learning the game or playing very casually/ beauty builders. But for advanced players it really changes and diversifies combat and trade routes. Given that ships and trade routes are a major pillar of the game, giving the player a completely new mode of transport and 6 additional vehicles is pretty big.

Having said that, its pretty subject from player to player so enjoy the game however you like. This is at least a good summary of all of the available DLC and a good watch for people trying to decide which DLC to buy.

How is Docklands C-Tier? It's the most broken DLC for Anno 1800? With proper setup you can eliminate entire supply chains and save tons of space on your islands. And that is what Anno 1800 is at its core: Resource Management and Management of Space. You are delusional putting Docklands in anything other than S-Tier.

anno 1800 with all the dlc is probably the deepest and most ambitious city builder that exists, right? I have a hard time thinking of one that really approaches how much anno 1800 tries to do - multiple real time cities with intense resource requirements and production/transport chains while still juggling (admittedly shallower) diplomacy and combat.

I would tend to disagree quite a bit with the placement of Docklands, especially considering the price. I get some think it's cheating to pull alot of items in through Docklands, but then dont buy it. For most people who just enjoy this somewhat casually, I really think it's pretty essential.
Also considering you put Seat of Power in a higher tier, to me Docklands is more essential and makes more sense to get than Seat of power. :)

Would love to know where your getting those prices?? Ubisoft Connect they are all $24.99 each. Priced out of range for me to get them all and more than most developers charge for an entire game. Ubisoft did not release this game on steam...which was annoying and now they did. Feel like they care little about there fan base. I will not pay $24 and not sure how you got it those so cheap.

It should be pointed out that you don't have to do the whole Land of Lions story line to unlock the Research Institute. After discovering Enbesa when the game asks whether you want to accompany Ketema on his journey, just say no. Then you can get a clipper with building materials from Ketema's harbor and settle on Taborime. Once you have 1500 elders, the research institute gets unlocked without competing any quests. There is enough space on Taborime for 1500 elders even if you don't build any production chains for the elders' needs. The scholars have certain needs that need to be produced in Enbesa. But those can also be imported through Docklands.

Gently disagree. It feels like reviewer does not have a deep enough grasp of the game mechanics at the time of review. It sounds like you're just echoing past reviews that say the same thing to conform to popular opinion.

1. Docklands is minimally essential especially if you're building for beauty and don't want to be too stressed out. It also opens up so many more ways of playing when supply lines are no longer a major concern. Moreover, the loading wharfs can boost your port loading speeds by up to a factor of 600%. IN OTHER WORDS FREEING UP YOUR COASTLINE BY A FACTOR OF 5. HOW IS THAT NOT ESSENTIAL DEAR REVIEWER. I'd go as far as to say that its even more critical than bright harvest because if you know what youre doing trading for crops via docklands makes bright harvest completely obsolete.

2. Also Empire of the skies is extremely good because harbours can take one ship and one airship at the same time effectively doubling your port's capacity and also most airships move at twice or more the speed of cargo ships which makes them incredible for lean supply chains and Postal service is incredible for cutting down your population consumption rates. S tier at worst in my opinion

3. Disagree with various claims - how is land of lions more complex than the high life? Plus Enbesa's learning curve really isn't that complex - its a two tier society with very little needs - its even easier than learning how to build in the new world without artistas.... Also calling tourists a "Flavour" DLC hurts me; have you seen the resource consumption reduction bonuses? THEYRE HUGE.

4. Actually disagree with sunken treasures being S tier - It should be recommended or essential at best. You can build perfectly fine without crown falls. Literally just build on islands and learn to split production? It doesn't actually make the game easier to play overall and while a big piece of land is nice its not necessary for enjoying the game.

In my eyes, the Docklands DLC is a must have, as it helps immensly with bigger cities without having to produce every resource in different worlds. The Tourist DLC i find pretty boring tho, as the production chains can be very annoying with all the items they need for their cafees and more.

I find the dockland are quite essential if you are going to get the highlife because it saves you a lot of time when sourcing goods for the millions of investor in highrises during the late game

I would put Docklands to A tier because the feature is just SO valuable for min maxing.
The Anarchist is a really meh DLC so easily in C tier.
Otherwise i agree with the rest, Anno 1800 is just a REALLY GOOD game and i love it so much.

I'm surprised you thought the quite realistic pier buildings didn't suit the rest of the game, but didn't have an issue with Skyscrapers being 100 years too early for 1800.

I kind of feel like Land of Lions should be in the S Tier. But I also kind of agree with you that the main campaign and research mechanics aspect of it maybe should've been split off as separate cheaper instalments. I would've put Seat of Power one level higher up in the tiers simply because I think the utility it offers extends well beyond the rather paltry sum of its parts.

Once you start building big, for a rather small DLC, it quickly becomes indispensable to your goals. Especially the accompanying branch offices when trying to work local islands with drastically reduced labor requirements (when used in conjunction with labor unions). Which bang for buck, is often far more worthwhile and fun of a mechanic than the comparatively extortionately expensive worker docks upkeep costs. If I'm honest, I kinda feel like Seat of Power and Cape Trelawny (Sunken Treasures) are inextricably linked now for me. I just don't see myself having one without the other and as such I literally planned out my Trelawney build with the capital buildings placement in mind and marked out from the start. Nor do I see myself playing DLCs like High Life without having used and extensively relied on the mechanics offered by the Seat of Power content to get me there.
