I read an article about some NBA media person saying Jokic wouldn't do well in the "physical" 80s-90s era because his body is not "athletic" enough. People said the same shit against Bird when he first came to the league during that era and he bodied anyone who dared challenge. Dude was even calling plays to the opposing team before they even happened. Popovich was the first and only person I heard who heavily compared Jokic to Bird and Pops called it. Jokic sees the game similarly to Bird. With Jokic, teams are always forced to play at his pace because of his ability to make snap decisions and quick plays. These were things Bird would do that made him a frustrating opponent to butt against. Bird doesn't care, he will make the right play. Jokic doesn't care either, he will make the right play.
