My Amethyst is real 😅

i have a smooth amethyst. bought it for 22 dollars. I tried the temp, it was cold, and i did the scratch test, it scratched the glass. so is it real or fake?

Do not use a flame on your crystals. Even 100% real crystals will accumulate black charcoal on them in the tiny pores under the surface of the crystal & nothing you do will get all the black specks off your beautiful crystal. When you use a lighter you are burning the flame at the top of the lighter with fuel (butane/lighter fluid). The top of the lighter is designed to spit the flammable substance into the flame at the top of the lighter. Some of that butane can actually scorch your crystal & leave behind black residue inside your crystals pores. It's kinda like when you hold your hand above a lighter flame & it leaves behind a black spot on your palm. Crystals may seem like they are smooth as glass & that they have solid surfaces, but under a jeweler's loop or magnification you can often see that your crystals surface actually has tiny cracks, fractures, or a porous surface.

Instead of using a lighter flame, safely heat up a safety pin & try to push it into the crystal surface. If the pin pushes into the crystal it's resin or plastic.

I'm curious, they are cheap why would someone take the time and energy and resources to make a fake one? Maybe I'm missing something?

I threw my Amethyst stone against concrete over 100 times. It’s a tiny bit scratched but stayed in one piece. It seemed pretty legit.

Glass will scratch glass..its pretty much a worthless test unless you are a scammer
