RTX 4080 vs 3080 Ti - 25 Games at 4K, 1440p & 1080p!

Thanks, a little late, but I finally got a Legion Pro 7i, with an i9 CPU and a 4080, 32GB of RAM for $2099 at B&H.
The price was too good\risky to wait for BF.

Are you testing with RT Overdrive or is it "just" RT Ultra but no path tracing?

First of all the 3080 Ti only has 12GB not 16gb that's the 4080 so that's typo there in your graphs, also memory bus for 3080 ti is 384-bit and 256-bit fof the 16GB 4080 (the 12GB version is 192-bit). Nice video and presentation though.

watched almost all video and then realised that this is waste of time, feeling sorry but this comparison is ridiculous. It wouldn't if both machines would be exactly the same apart the GPU. Now is totally messed, even size different. materials, design, tech, QB, lots of factors are here to skip this video.

I am over here still happy with my 3060 ryzen 7 omen 15.

So a 4060 laptop gpu, on cyberpunk 1080p max setting without dlss was giving 60-70fps


Then thus 3080ti is giving 69 fps,similar to 4060

When i turned on frame gen and dlss 3 4060 can give 120fps avg

And 3080ti 91fps. 30fps extra😅😅😅

Someone with a 140watt 3080 was trying to sell me this big heavy gaming laptop. He was just trying to convince me its better, take it 😅😅

I have the Lenovo legion pro 7i 4080 - purchased Dead Space on steam, and my fans and temperatures are beyond 90C on the CPU, even though it’s only 20% utilised. And I’m only playing on 1440p high settings with DLSS balanced.

I’ve read that this game in particular runs high temps on CPUs. Just wondering what your experience was after seeing the benchmarks for Dead Space

I'd assume that you do the 25 games because you, like us, are detail oriented and want to provide the best accurate possible feedback possible which is only possible through exploring all of these options. Also, this data matters to me as you test specific games that I play which gives me a bench mark, with out making incorrect assumptions based on other frame rate performance. COD for example, has a fairly middle of the road performance vs fortnite for example, of which i play COD but not fortnite... Thanks for all the work and the tests and great videos!

I've been searching all over the internet the absolute best prices for gaming laptops with the 3070ti, 3080 and 4080. I've narrowed it down to the Legion 7 series, because they all have better build quality and cooling compared to the L5.

However, I'm still not convinced that the 4080 + i9 combo is worth another 800-1000USD despite Frame Generation and DLSS3. Mind you that I'm thinking of buying the laptop on eBay or Lenovo's website if I can stack a few coupon codes. I'm based in Brazil and a relative of mine that lives in the US would bring it over, so I'm expecting to pay 500-700USD of taxes.

Btw, the games I want to play are not too demanding (latest RE remakes, Borderlands 3, FFX HD remaster, Wii U emulation, Dead Space remake - this one would be an exception I guess).

Also, from what I understand the 16gb of VRAM on the 3080 became irrelevant in comparison to 12gb + DLSS3 + Frame Generation. Is that correct? On the other hand 8gb (RTX 3070) seems to be too little to run current games on High settings. I've seen some RE4 remake testing and it was using 7gb+ the whole time (1440p High settings).

On top of that I need to consider the resell value of the Legion 7 series, because I want to sell the laptop next year and make some profit out of it.

I hope my doubt was clear enough despite English being my second language and not sleeping enough xD

Initially going to get a 4070, but glad I decided to sit & do more research first. Even though it'll be $300+ more looks like I'll be better off with the 4080.

So that's why a bunch of 3050-3060 laptops are on clearance sales right now.

Hi, it's very good comparison between this 2 GPU. i still confuse which laptop that using rtx GPU suit me, my requirement only 1080p atleast 90Hz FPS RTX on with all medium (High?) settings because i don't really need too much graphics quality. Which 4th gen Nvdia or AMD GPU 7th gen suit me?

Los portátiles con rtx 3080 ti son más caros y tienen menos rendimiento, en este ejemplo el precio es más bajo porque el portátil no trae 240 Hz ni 2TB.

Hi all.I didnot have a high end gaming laptop before so I dont know about prev gens gaming performance on laptop. I am going to get a new one with Rtx 40 series and intel 13th gen combo at the end of this year. I am a casual gamer, plays mostly Rpg games, sometimes multiplayer and want to play games at med to high 1440p settings. So those who have owned can you please tell me according to my use mentioned above which will be better 4070 or 4080? Also how 4070 and 4080 can be compared with prev gen Rtx 30 series? Also can you suggest which brand to go with Legion, Rog or Predator?

I bet the 4080 lenovo variant beats the razer when it comes out.

Maybe it’s just me, but I was hoping for at least a 50% performance jump top end to top end.

It’s probably a good idea to wait for the next generation unless your current rig is a GTX card. Anything with RTX is still showing up and playing hard. Even the RTX2060 laptops are still not hurting at all even at 1440p.

Looking forward to the RTX50 series for sure.
