How To Play a Divine Soul Sorcerer in Dungeon and Dragons 5e

I have a circle of the stars druid and took the meta magic feat with twin spell. That has come in clutch saving party members before. Chalice form + Healing spell of choice + Twin spell :)

So theoretically Superman in dnd would be a divine sorcerer of the sun ?

I still wanna play a full on DSS, not a multiclass like my first character. Maybe re-flavoring the use of some touch spells as martial arts so they can show off a bit of knowledge?

Played an aasimar divine soul sorcerer. Very thematic and also very powerful

My current character is a Divine Soul and while she is only level 6 at the moment, I have found her to be a great deal of fun and versatile. The versatility aspect is enhanced by the fact she is actually a Divine Soul 4, Life Domain Cleric 1, Wizard 1. By having the two other classes, it has allowed me to offload certain spells from my DS and pick other spells. By taking the Cleric, not only did I gain armor proficiencies which has saved me numerous times, it has allowed me to relegate my healing abilities to that aspect. Likewise with the wizard, I can relegate utility spells I might never need to cast in an encounter such as Longstrider and Featherfall that I wouldn't have access to if I was only a DS. Also, ritual magic and lots of cantrips for roleplaying and general use.

Last night, I was level 5 (3/1/1) and in a single encounter with a banshee and charmed sailors, I pulled off some great moves that really helped.

In one instance, our monk and one of the other clerics were downed instantly by failing a saving throw. I was ahead of them but after the monsters in initiative order. So, as Kelly stated in the video, I twinned an upcasted Healing Word and brought them back into the fight.

Another instance, one of the mobs was about to crit the same Cleric I had just revived only for me to throw a Silvery Barbs at it and turned a nat 20 into a complete miss.

I wasn't just defense though; I was also twinning guiding bolts and the like trying to help out as much as I could.

I love the versatility of this character. Oh, one more thing, she's a Bard who doesn't have any Bard levels. She's basically a magical version of Lindsey Stirling and plays her violin, dances and sings a lot. Her wizarding spell book is scribed in such a way as to appear like sheet music that I'm really hoping my DMs will allow me to cast spells while playing in the future. I just think that would be really cool for her to 'cast' Suggestion or whatever while playing a musical piece.

Now my dilemma, do I take Metamagic Adept or Fey-touched for her first feat? On the one hand, I get two more metamagics (I've chosen Twin and Empower as my first two) and 2 more sorcery points. On the other, I effectively gain 4 spells for my sorceress. ('Move' Shield or Silvery Barbs to my wizard aspect, dump Chaos Bolt completely since I'd rather cast Guiding Bolt and pick something new, New spell for leveling, Misty Step and an enchantment/divination first level spell I don't already have)

My other feat choices would be Shadow-touched for the same reason as Fey-touched (extra spells and +1 charisma) which will finish off my charisma (I started with an 18 [Half-Elf and rolling]). It occurs to me I would not have been able to pull this off efficiently with point buy and I hate standard array. I'm glad they let us roll.

Constitution: 16 (+1 from Half Elf)
Intelligence: 16 (+1 from Half Elf)

Cantrips: Chill Touch, Dancing Lights, Firebolt, Guidance, Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation, Ray of Frost, and Thaumaturgy

Spells (Sorceress):
Chaos Bolt, Silvery Barbs, Shield, Spiritual Weapon, Scorching Ray (definitely adding Misty Step regardless of how she gets it and likely Web)

Spells (Cleric):
[Bless, Cure Wounds], typically Guiding Bolt, Healing Word, Protection from Good/Evil and Sanctuary

Spells (Wizard):
Pick four from first level that do not have attack rolls or saving throws, mainly defensive or utilitarian.


I know level 3 spells are going to be a nightmare, so many I want...

Counterspell, Fly, Slow, Haste, Revivify, Mass Healing Word, Fireball and I'm sure there are others. I'm rarely close enough for Spirit Guardians so I likely won't be taking that. That said, I have a good AC before Shield spell, so I could be in the thick of it and be okay, I just choose not to. We usually have melee that can do it anyway. Last night was odd in that we had five casters and one melee. (Two Clerics, one Wizard, one Druid, one Monk and me, the crazy triple multiclass.)

With this multiclass, am I weaker than a straight Divine Soul or other Sorceress? Honestly, I don't think so. In fact, I believe I am much stronger because of the sheer versatility I bring to the table. Sure, I don't have third level spells, but I also have a lot of options and can do much more than simply blast things apart. The Ring of Spell Storing I have doesn't hurt and effectively gives me five more first level spell slots since I always load it with first level spells.

Really hoping this character lives to see level 20, she is an absolute thrill to play.

My spell pick is aura of vitality that occupy my bonus action. With metamagic extend on that it usually run through a combat encounter and is around to heal up people afterwards. For a third level spell slot and a sorcery point it is a bargain. I then dipped a level in life cleric for a +5 to every time I healed with aura of vitality (and got to put on armor).
As I started as sorcerer, I am profissient in con saving throws. I have a decent con score and I grabbed war caster first chance I got.

With this I have a decent background healing going on, and my main action is free for anything else. Drawback is the short heal range of 30 feet.

I have a Divine Soul Sorcerer Firbold that im currently playing and have taken 3 levels of fighter to beef up my front line fight and and AC while also taking the Eldritch knight subclass to add more spells to be casted. while also planning on going to lvl 17 with the Divine Souls Sorcerer, this ultimately has made my character hard to beat in any situation which wasnt planned but has been great with discovering how I could make the Ultimate Red Mage Character in Dnd.

Well, I guess that if anyone where to try to convert any of the characters into a 5e build for them to play, the Divine Soul Sorcerer is the perect build to play Xykon, playing as a Lich without technically being one.

Just take reborn as a race, take some of the necromancer spells and regenerate, and you will have an undead spellcaster with the abiloty to create an army of other undead for his armies, as well as a healing factior that will make you very hard to kill.

But there is something that i dont undertand yet, can i use 2 metamagic spells at the same time? O just like "i use mi twin spell to cast healing word in the bard and the paladin"? Or two metamagic spells can work at the same time? Great video helps a lot but i have that issue ty guys

About to play a Order Domain Cleric / Divine Soul Sorcerer Astral Elf in Spelljammer. The synergy with Silvery Barbs and Voice of Authority should be fun. Twinned Spell as well, and maybe distant spell. I'm the party's dedicated healer/support, my character is a pacifist so he doesn't have a single damage dealing spell or weapon. I'm excited!

Your sorcerer must always be exactly 10 feet from enemy's so they can twin cure wounds with front line melee. It's a hard rule with this class should have been immediately mentioned. Second thing should have been mentioned is enlarging magically as much as possible to extend cure wounds range

I'm a DM, one of my players is a kid (12-13) and his first ever character was a Half-Orc Divine Soul Sorcerer. He used Tasha's variant for the CHA, and I changed up his Savage Attacks to where it worked with critical spell attacks instead of critical melee attacks (called it "Berserk Mage")

I think he was 5 levels in before he realized that clerics had some powerful non-healing spells lol.

I have a player who created an astral elf divine soul sorcerer with the astral drifter background. I’m so excited to see what he does with it and a little bit scared that Barovia won’t be as challenging for him.

Another interesting race choice for Sorcerer, when using the rules from Tasha's: Lizardfolk. Base AC of 13+Dex mod? yes please! This combo let's all types of Sorcerer gain one of the main benefits of the Draconic Sorcerer.

I made a character that took a level of Order Domain Cleric and then went full Divine Soul Sorcerer, and he ended up being a charisma-based "commander", throwing buffs around and giving others opportunities to attack

Metamagic Adept would be incredible if it gave you a plus in CHA but I’d rather get a plus 5 in CHA as early as possible.

They should have added two spells per level for divine soul that the sorcerer can change out with as well

Divine soul/paladin can get a lot of milage with spirit guardians

I’m considering making a multiclass character of a divine soul sorcerer/ fiend warlock Baalzebul tiefling. The idea is that the character is the result of a paring between a fallen assamar and a cultist and since baalzebul was not always a arch devil that this would add to the divine soul powers too. Baalzebul would then manipulate my character through childhood until they gave into becoming a warlock with him a patron so he could use her for his plans which my character would not know the final outcome of.

Multi class divine soul with a paladin

Multiclassing with 1 level dip in Order cleric makes this the best support in the game. Combining voice of authority with your meta magic is so fun and feels incredibly powerful. Start sorcerer for constitution save prof then take one level in order cleric. If you have a 14 dex you can have an 18 ac with scale mail and shield. Take shield spell and shocking grasp for a melee attack and you can survive anywhere on the battlefield
