Studying and working as an industrial designer myself I can only salute this :)
Bought mine even before university and never even remotely regretted the investment. Also there‘s an education discount! And if you‘re not opting for the enterprise model make sure to get the wireless version, there‘s nothing nicer than being able to sit on the couch or even outside, laptop on the lap, SpaceMouse on the side ..

I have used the cad mouse Pro for about 2 years, and I am not happy. Also the weel stop working.

Anyone have fixed the wheel's serious issue with the compact mouse (cadmouse)?

Started out with the SpacePilot PRO and am now using the SpaceMouse Enterprise and I'm kinda amazed how people can actually get productive work done in 3D without the 3DConnexion devices ( or any other equivalent if there's still one ) - Used it in all 3D Modelling and 3D Workspace software I've come across so far - Including the PrusaSlicer 🤣 ( props to them or whoever made that feature a thing possible ).

My only gripe with the Displayed models is for them officially not supporting user defined custom icons to be displayed on them since there's no way from within the Profiled to add Icons to a command - If a 3DConnexion released profile doesn't have icons for actions defined then you'll only be given a generic bland of nothing to look at which I find highly unsatisfying for a ~450.- device but with Logitech being their Parent Company and 3DConnexion also using the LCD Profiler Software the old Logitech LCD equipped Keyboards used I knew there being a way to remedy this issue and indeed it is although requiring the editing of an *.XML Document - Not the end of the world but jeesh man... Just add that fuckin' functionality into the Editor would ya? 🙄

Hope they supplied the device for such a great product review. I really like the view control while system is laying out passes.

Lightburn is awesome :p

This is an epic serie !! I look forward to see the other episodes !!
Will you consider including the Adam Savage forearm tattoo as the ultimate engineer tool ? The more I design, the more I think about it hahaha

I may have you beat on that 38 years, the math would depress me if I did it 😀 let’s say first computer I owned was a “just-released Trash-80 w a cassette drive”. 👍👍👍👍 on the SpaceMouse Enterprise....personally I prefer Logitech trackball (style w ball under the thumb and yes have had to replace the switches in everyone of em) to Cadmouse. I have 3 monitors, Dell 32”, dell 15” & Cintiq 27, I find the trackball much faster than a mouse and for me, more accurate with less arm strain over time. Use em for Fusion 360. For ZBrush & Rhino 3D, have to substitute Tartarus for SpaceMouse. Setup: Far
left I have SM Enterprise, keyboard I use Logitech G Pro ten-keyless keyboard - slightly left mainly for lefthand access (yeah, reminds me of a Selectric and 3270 keyboard - COBOL, OS/VS JCL, RPG, 360 assembler) very easy to program its function keys.. Use a usb 10key pad on right side next to trackball. Everything backlit where possible. If you like SpaceMouse..try a Ben-Q light...great for at night when placed behind wide monitors for soft ambient lighting, really helps with eye strain for night owls. As always, YMMV.

Only downside to SM Enterprise, wish there was a way to turn off display, if there’s a way, someone please share 😲. Biggest gripe with it, they should have designed the top programmable buttons to ergonomically align with the display.

Side question, on your binocular scope, looks like you’ve got a v camera setup on it. Can you elaborate on it a bit? Looking for one for our Amscope, just haven’t found one we’re happy with yet.

I'm a mechanical engineering student, and I've been spending lot more time on my computer as of late. I think I'll look more into this!
The cad mouse compact and space mouse compact really peaked my interest.

I've had a 3DConnexion for about 10 years... at year 6 or 7 the smooth rubber coating turned gummy. Fortunately it was easy to remove completely with isopropyl alcohol.

What's the use of the modifier keys on the enterprise model if you've already got so many other buttons and 6 axis control? I like the 3 button mouse though. I have big hands too so this is a pretty nice setup.
