i welled my car and a couple of dounts and drifts the gearbox blew up

My 350z is welded diff. I use it a lot of drifting at car meets, race track etc. But now I just want to daily drive it to work and back home. I wanna remove the welded. Which I don’t actually think u can UNWELD lol. So what do I need to buy to make it back normal.

I refuse to believe this was 3 years ago.

This makes me wonder if it would be possible to add a locking mechanism to the diff, so it only is 'welded' when the driver wants a welded diff.

Drifting = spool or welded diff, road race = lsd. Plain and simple

I daily drive my 96 f150 with bald 33's and a welded diff for quite a while. It was a fun truck and plenty driveable.

My question is how does it effect handling in high speed turns. Is it safe enough to push the car with a welded diff in those conditions? Loose dirt on the road and all

3k for a lsd in my 2011 charger 😭

I raced off-road for years with a welded Toyota Landcruiser in a Ford Cortina, the diff never broke but we did destroy a lot of axles. You go from 50% of the load through any axle to 100% of the load to either axle so the axle will be the weak spot in the build.

It's at this point I'm happy I work on semi's, seeing on how much is in the way to drop a dif. Then again, last time I did one, I needed a forklift to move the thing.

I've had both. Welded diff for the win.

Those diffs looked much easier to take apart than the 4WD on the VW models. It was fun but more difficult

So if u weld the spiders and also weld the plates to the spiders, How do you put the clips back onto the end of the axles to secure them in???
