If you transfer it from Avid to Premiere, edit and do stuff, then send it BACK to avid, would the quality of it go down?
Thanks

Hello, while importing through AAF creates duplicate clips (which WAS a nightmare even on projects going from Premiere to another Premiere), they have added a function to CONSOLIDATE DUPLICATES. You may find it in Edit -> Consolidate Duplicates. I'm not sure if it works all of the time or under which conditions it does not, but it was helpful on a number of occasions. Note that if you happen to sync through PluralEyes, the program will create duplicate sound files but that are drift corrected (have a different timecode ?) and those refuse to be consolidated. Correct me if I'm wrong! :)

Hans! Great videos. I keep getting 'generic importer error' code when relinking to AVID MXF files in Premiere. Any ideas?

The bigger question is: "Why would anybody wants to work in Premiere at all?" [If Avid is available]

Well, but if your footages are not connected via AMA links, but consolidated in Avid Media Folder (OP-Atom), AAF will not open in the Premiere.
