Wow, I was unaware of this category, and think it's an awesome idea. Games like C&C and King's Quest (alluding to last year's winner) were my childhood.

Think this reward is well deserved to the former team of Westwood Studios. I may have never managed to finish the campaigns but their games have made many fond memories with playing multiplayer with my dad over Lan. Thank you.

EA messed up C&C franchies 4yrs ago and canceled Generals 2 and now all we get is some memories of Westwood?! there is not even a catergory for RTS games this 2015... WTF?

A really well deserved award. Shame EA kicked the bucket when it came to Westwood.

This was the only good part of the show. A brilliant one. Somehow i expected a new C&C but indeed it's nearly impossible by the modern EA.

But this won't bring back command and conquer, my all time favorite command and conquer game is Generals and zero hours. I just want another installment in General universe :(.

After Starcraft Legacy of the Void finished, the entire RTS falls into darkness.

They definitely deserve it. Fondly remember the C&C series. I loved how they put at the intro of their games, "Westwood Studios; proudly presents.", idk it seemed to me that the game I was about to play was a real labor of love, which is awesome. Anyways, good on Geoff and TGA for recognizing Westwood Stuidos. I'll surely be watching on Thursday.

Good choice, they really deserve it. Loved Dune 2, also the rpgs and adventure games they made. Would be nice if Joe Kucan would be there too...Nod! Nod! Nod! :)

All hail Westwood Studios!

Westwood is one of the most underrated companies of all time. Oh yes, sure, everyone knows they made Dune 2 and C&C, but they weren't a one-trick RTS pony, they were also responsible for some INCREDIBLE games which - for some bizzare reason - barely anyone wants to remember!!! Why? I have no clue, but that's scandalous.
Remember these?
- Eye of the Beholder (the second one being an absolute blast)
- The Legend of Kyrandia (kick-ass adventure game series)
- Lands of Lore (ooh boy, do I especially adore the first one - The Throne of Chaos. Such an imaginative and visually gorgeous world, even today!)
- BLADE FREAKING RUNNER. One of the best adventure games of all time, criminally overlooked. One which offered extremely well implemented, detective-like puzzles, incredible atmosphere straight out from the movie and - wait for it - totally different experience each time your played it AND meaningful choices that affected the story! Telltale could learn a thing or two from Westwood, Blade Runner was a proper adventure as opposed to a glorified interactive movie and offered real choices with tangible consequences instead of mere illusion of choice.
- Nox. A hack 'n' slash game which dethroned Diablo 1&2, if you ask me.

Legendary studio. Such a shame they shared Bullfrog's fate.

Geoff you are one awesome guy. Thanks for these awards and the show. Westwood guys deserve it, I wish the old Westwood was still around.

What he described at the end is exactly what happened with last year's Icon award presentation. I wasn't expecting anything and I didn't think much of Sierra. Then I got schooled so hard about their importance and found HUGE respect for them. The presentation basically said, "You wouldn't have all your favorite Kojima games and all these great narrative driven games today if not for these OGs" lol. Having Neil Druckman present it was just ridiculously crazy.

They so much deserve the recognition.

Westwood are so legendary. They made some of the first and best RTS games ever, Dune and Command&Conquers all the way up to Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun:Firestorm. I miss them :(... But it's nice that you guys honor them like this, they deserve it!

I miss westwood so much :( fuck you EA... your killing of Westwood, Maxis, Pandemic, and so many other great developers is why I will never buy your products again. Also because they are generally ripe with shit DLC/microtransactions/DRM and such.. fuck EA. And fuck every idiot who buys their products.
