É saturn , no 3ds nao tem chance contro o ps1, mas no 2d a história é outra....otimos consoles, cada um com sua qualidade, ai vai do gosto so gamer

I liked the N64 versión.

Graphically, the PS1 version is undoubtedly better. But the gameplay of Saturn version is much better than the PS1 version of this game. Even the buttons layout on the menu screens are weird on PS!, while intelligent and intuitive os Saturn.

Saturn is obviously a beta version released to the market. PS1's players were always going to be a bit smoother, but lack of textures and features are a sign of an unfinished product.

I remember when fifa came out on the mega drive in 1994(?) it was huge! Then as the years went on with the ps1 games like actual soccer moved ahead, I remember my friend bringing fifa 98 over and I was like ‘ah fifas dated now’ then playing it and thinking.. erm actually this is very good. I think that game was a real turning point for the franchise

Sega saturn version is something like 32x/64x version if it existed.

Friggin uploader has serious sadist issues by just continually refusing to separate audio.

The FMV and resolution are better in Ps1 but the characters animation in Saturn is better.

I’m pretty sure EA could’ve done better with the Saturn version. Look at the font. They probably were ok with releasing the unrefined unpolished untextured mapped version on the Saturn and the finished one on the PS. By this time they’ve heard of the Dreamcast and just about had it with Sega. The Saturn wasn’t inferior by any means, but bad management and poor communication between Sega of Japan and Sega US caused many 3rd parties to cut ties. That’s why the Dreamcast didn’t get any sports games from EA and had to make em in house. Anywho, I didn’t notice it when I got it back in the day. It was a blast to play hours on end.

I had Saturn version fifa98. It looked like shit. All the players are too bigger in a small ground. EA Canada made this port awful.

Durante o jogo em campo, notei que na versão do Saturn a câmera fica em cima dos jogadores, quase não aparece a torcida ou o canteiro de propagandas. Na versão do PlayStation a câmera afasta bastante, é possível ver a torcida com frequência e canteiro de propagandas quase o tempo todo.

I have to be honest: Saturn version looks...not half bad. I’m a bit puzzled as most Saturn FIFA 98 videos I’ve seen show an extremely choppy frame rate, as though a frame-skip mode were in effect. Here, the motions and scrolling are much more smooth, comparable to PSX FIFA. Mind you, I have not played this game, so I feel I’d need some hands-on experience to see for real.

Aside from that, Saturn version is close to Playstation in most respects. PSX is more refined in its visuals, featuring nice touches like flashes in the crowds, lens flare from the sun and color gradation on the field. The net also shows more subtlety in the netting, where the net in Saturn version looks like a big plastic cage. There also appears to be an aspect ratio issue on Saturn, and the screen appears slightly squashed. Again, I haven’t played and I probably should before rendering judgement.

Beyond that, there’s no doubt that EA could be unforgivably lazy with their Saturn games, particularly when compared to their PSX cousins. This isn’t always the case, and they did put in the hard work on Madden, Need For Speed, Space Hulk and Soviet Strike (and possibly Darklight Conflict). For soccer/futbol, Sega’s Worldwide Soccer series is the best on Saturn, looks terrific, offers 30 fps. Also check out World League Soccer and J League Go Go Goal.

Sony wins this round as FIFA 98 is considered one of the all-time great entries in the series and is terrific on PSX. Saturn version might be terrible, put that might only apply to the PAL edition. So it might actually be good.

Saturn was ok for 3D, it was designed first and foremost to be an excellent 2D machine.

Fifa98 on sega saturn was a complete failure, i played it. it's a chaos...i played on PSX it was a success.

I had fun with booth versions in my Childhood.

Essa versão do Saturn é na verdade FIFA '97 com menus e seleções atualizadas. Os caras nem se deram o trabalho de adicionar os novos dribles... E ainda tiraram vários efeitos do jogo. É realmente uma vergonha esse port que a EA decidiu lançar de qualquer maneira.

I thought Saturn ver would look worse. Its fluid and graphically ok, but PS1 clearly better.

It's so hilarious to hear two legends of football commentary remarking forever in time like it's the game of the century on games played by Nigel on his 360 in Framton on Sea in his bedroom. Playstation has a gradient on the pitch.

Tenho até hj o fifa 98 do play 1 e do saturn , na época gostei dos dois , no saturn o problema é q o jogo foi bugado, não tem chuva, neve, raios e também os reflexos, mas de resto é bom também, se no saturn não fosse esses bugs eu preferia jogar do saturn porque o controle na minha opinião foi o melhor dos anos 90

Port mal acabado. Pura preguiça da EA. O Saturn tinha condições de rodar com gráficos melhores.

The goalkeeper physics, moves and jumps prevented this game from being better than it already was. it's horrible. winning eleven was far way better than fifa when it comes to physics.
