Important announcement : we've dropped the audio levels on our deafening intro! On a scale of mouse whisper to jet plane, how's it sound?
ОтветитьSeen, and listened to, quite a lot of Sean Carrol for the last few years and I'm extremely impressed of all his knowledge on physics, science and much more.. Plus superb communication skills.
ОтветитьMan is not free until he is.
ОтветитьRefute my page 2 and I'll believe you everything you want. NO this is not a bot this is Andreas Fehlau
ОтветитьIf the universe splits with every decision being made, how thin can the branches become? Is their a limit to ‚thinness‘?
ОтветитьCan someone give a brief summary of what Sean regards as the meaning of life?
ОтветитьIf people stopped looking for the meaning to life and instead started living a meaningful life, they would have found the reason and the purpose.
ОтветитьHe is a brilliant lecturer. A great asset for a scientist of his caliber
Ответить"Erroneously supposed to do no harm". Great statement.
ОтветитьHow many expected Sheldon?
ОтветитьAs an American, I'm pleased to hear Sean include Wile E. Coyote in the lecture. Very pleased indeed!
ОтветитьSo many great talks - and still, the basic action of splitting the video into live video and the slides, still illudes the producer?
ОтветитьA very articulate speaker, making it easy to just believe everything he says is true, plus ignoring assumptions made. eg. why giraffes have long necks? The explanation ASSUMES giraffes must have short necks to start with. 😂😂😂
ОтветитьMy opinion the universe is expanding backwards where it started which is the singularity. Like a flower that openly blooms from a seed then withers away. Perhaps like a runaway boomerang that returns to its original source. It can not just expand into a cold dark endless space-time as many thinks, that’s illogical. As Einstein states, universally there is no straight line. Ultimately, it will be thrown away to start creation.
ОтветитьIf Dr Carroll is suggesting that this super reductionism actually explains biology and neuroscience, he's got a lot of work to do. This is the central problem for hard reductionism – that kind of reductionism cannot explain emergent properties or why we need any science other than simply physics. If everything is just applied physics, why haven't Departments of Economics been replaced by a version of Applied Physics? Why isn't psychology replaced by Applied Physics? The answer is simple. It's impossible. A quantum-mechanical explanation for why I might feel hunger instead of thirst has absolutely no purchase and no traction in fact it could not even be constructed, because it's aimed at the wrong level of organization. New levels of organization describe properties and dynamics that could not be predicted from the antecedent level of organization, even though they don't violate in any way the principles at the antecedent level. They emerge from the antecedent level by virtue of dynamical organizations of structures at the antecedent level. This is the concept of emergent properties, and it is the bain indeed the boogeyman of sledgehammer reductionism. Sadly, and this is a particularly sad statement for a scientist, If you deny emergence there is a way in which you are denying one of the most miraculous and amazing things about nature – the staggering richness and wonder of its levels of organization. If all levels of organization could be described by and collapsed into a single level, there would only be physics and nothing else. Of course that's not true or possible but it remains the seductive fever-dream of theoretical physics.
ОтветитьBOTTOM LINE IS WERE THE BIGGEST IN THE UNIVERSE, BUT TO REACH THE HIGHEST FORM OF LIFE WE MUST BE SMALLER?
ОтветитьSo if momentum is from the start,What the big bang carried over ,what is there that can slow or stop this force? What en mass has the power to slow momentum other than black holes
ОтветитьI want some nachos.
ОтветитьAh hooey!
Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide??
Pfft...
I say it's an undiscovered fluid called flatulencestan
One of, if not the, best lecture I've ever heard on the fundamentals of life the universe and everything
ОтветитьI think we should start by saying you and me and the whole visible universe is made of photons
Ответить“You can’t start a sentence in one language and end it in another.”
I’m having trouble with this. Maybe because English is made up of so many different languages, and in a sense, we use sentences comprising different languages all the time.
Awesome!
ОтветитьI agree with his opening statement. Everything happens for a reason.
ОтветитьLecture scope to big for this guy, or anyone. Stay in your lane as a particle pusher Sean.
ОтветитьThis is an awesome channel and I can't but be grateful to all those who make it possible. It's a real privilege to be able to enjoy this level of curated lectures online. And for me, among all this incredible material this particular talk really stands out. Hat off to you! 🎩
ОтветитьI had a very lucid dream, a vision..God wants you to feel him near, to love him and to accept him. if you want heaven, accept him into your heart. if you are full of hate, if you reject God, you will not be accepted into heaven and will suffer FOR EVER as a result
ОтветитьCan someone give me timestamp of him talking about 'if light is wave or particle' then he confirms that its wave or particle
Ответитьfield hi field crop field air field work field production field basic field as matter really to create matter by action and not by expression .
ОтветитьI can't see photons, but I'm pretty sure they affect my life.
ОтветитьWily Coyote did not fall down until the observation had been made thereby providing an early demonstration of quantum mechanics.
ОтветитьAre there units on that equation for the Core Theory?
ОтветитьNumerous variations after the original Corona virus and 4 doses later, listening to Dr Carroll s lecture make surviving the pandemic more meaningful.
Thanks for the effort and keep up the good work.
From Hker worldwide
That's all very well, but can he explain how to walk on water ?
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьThis guy is very very good at verbalizing his points. Extraordinary.
ОтветитьWow! A very philosophical lecture in my opinion.
ОтветитьAlive move dead don't move....
ОтветитьI'm not religious but I know this much. If we are the children of super nova's and that we are made up of all the elements in the universe and that we are in the universe, than we are the the conscious universe experiencing itself because we are made up of all the elements of it. We are the universe.
ОтветитьAnd how so u think that how hard for me to communicate like this
ОтветитьMaybe we can back in time if we can no longer be able to continue to go forward in time and that is called death
ОтветитьWe can’t go back in time
ОтветитьWe r all. Connected
ОтветитьAnd thats its y im in peaces
ОтветитьTo find my pair
ОтветитьAnd I don’t know
ОтветитьI just know it
ОтветитьI know
Ответить
