FEAR 2: Project Origin - Sequelitis

I actually really enjoyed all the Fear sequels. The third had some of the best gunplay I’ve ever played.

Since this game's over a decade old, it’d be awesome to see a remake of F.E.A.R. 2. Having not only the main characters more fleshed out, but also having Michael Becket being voiced and no longer be a blank slate, kinda like with Isaac in the first Dead Space Remake.

For Becket, he’d start off as a levelheaded sergeant who cares for his squad, while barely tolerating Redd’s obnoxious attitude until the time of his death. Becket would get along well with Stokes, creating an implied love interest essence in the remake. Like what would happen in Fear 3, Michael would gradually lose his mind from Alma’s torment and eventual assault against him in the end.

As for Becket being voiced, it’d be great to hear Robin Atkin Downes portraying him vocally, since he actually voiced him in the third game.

I prefer FEAR 2. The varied level design and mech suits make it more enjoyable.

Just played F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R 2 for the first time on PC and they are great games, my gripe with 2 is that when setting keybinds you cannot unassaign the default bindings and they are quite awkward.. you had complete freedom in this regard with the first game.

I guess this is just the trend with increasingly more modern games

Honestly id be okay if Alma chose me and I would care for the baby a lot and perhaps change Alma’s ways.

Never played the first, but F.E.A.R. 2 is one of the most charming 7th Gen games around. They were really able to pull off that realistic grittiness every dev shot for in that era

I played fear 2 the first time because i was a horny teenage boy. The second time for nostalgia. Had fun but i dont understand why the shotguns suck so much dick

So it wasn't just me? Bc this was my first F.E.A.R. game (long story) and while I'd heard good things abt the first, encouraging me to try the games, I just wasn't vibing

If people think this is the worst sequel of all time, then they clearly haven't played devil may cry 2

Part 2 are usually made best in anything

I played the first fears demos and fear combat which I loved the shot gun played fear 3 on PS3 and liked it especially the psychic guy that jumps into baddies body's and Psychic ability to explode there bodys

I like this review and love Eve fear games except fear 3 but the smg in the first game is not the same one as in fear 2 he got the guns wrong because the smg in fear 1 was based on the mp5k and the Smg in fear 2 is based on a p90 he’s comparing 2 guns that aren’t the same the smg so you can’t complain that the guns are reskins when they’re not they’re completely different guns because the character you play in fear 2 is from a different company that uses different weapons and the assult rifle in fear 2 is accurate because it’s based on the xm8 while the assult rifle in first game that replica forces use is based on the real life civilian G36 but what I’m trying to say is the guns are different from both games they’re not the same so you can’t compare them because the first game used the rpl sub machine gun while in fear 2 you’re equipped with a Andra FD-99 two completely different guns in the fear universe

I love fear game. It's nice graphic but no need height vga and also the story line very good. Too bad many game developer only focus to make good graphic but bad in story line

I genuinely never understood this hate, I have always loved fear 2. I had fun and was great to me, obviously, I liked fear one better but still... Fear 2 was great.

The FEAR series is the most confusing video game series I ever played. In fact, I only played the 3 games simply because I was intrigued with what was going on. And I still don't know what was going on.

I played FEAR2 immediately after experiencing FEAR1. Couldn't finish FEAR2 because of how inferior it was to 1. Also, the plot sucked.

First one, I think had more challenging combat. Ai in 2 I've noticed feel a lot more predictable, and will often just take hits w/o reacting until they are dead. The actual horror aspect, and storyline feel a lot more thorough and fleshed out though. I think I like 2 better than 1, but still find myself going back to both depending on what I'm in the mood for.

I remember seeing the original fear on my uncles PC but didn't get to play them until the 360 console ports. I believe I played FEAR 2 first though and what an experience! Still one of my favorite games to date, I remember my brother hiding behind his pillow watching me, the missable jumpscare after you fall in the pool, if you go grab ammo or something in the next room Alma would spawn behind you and that got us good haha. To this day my fear of ladders is perpetuated by Fear not only from the first games double jump scare but even more so from extraction points! Such a good series

I still think this game looks good, but that doesn't mean I think it is good. It's ok for what it is. I still prefer the first one (Along with the majority of people).

The reason for combat feeling better in the first game was the sound design. Guns were loud as shit, brass hitting the floor was more pronounced, and Mark Lund's voice acting as the Mark VI Replicas is to this day some of the best, visceral sounding combat dialogue in a shooter, up there with BF3's soldiers. He voiced the Mark VII Replicas in FEAR 2, but he purposefully sounded more robotic as they were an "upgraded", less expressive variant.

Idk, I fucking love this game. The combat isn't as good or punchy as the first game, but the atmosphere and attention to detail, especially in the indoor environments, is just utterly fantastic. The hospital and school levels are some of my favorite FPS levels ever.

I really liked this game despite having played the first Fear a ton. The school section of the game is nice n spooky. I think people overreact about the shotguns being kinda bad in this game tho. Sure as hell ain't no Doom 3 shotgun.

The pulse weapon is similar to the omen rifle in goldeneye rogue agent

I will say, fear 2 was my first entry, I have insanely fond memories of it and as a stand-alone game it was perfect. When I then played F1, I was actually taken back because I felt F2 was a better game, story and gameplay. So I definitely think there is always a bias towards whatever game you started with

2 was ok, removing contact grenades really hurt the game, I ended up using the proximity mines as grenades since they are more useful. The dlc being too short and having the pretty shitty concept of "Boss fights" also hurts it.
Both shotguns being amazing helps it, however

Let us not forget the story in 2 was crucial to understanding why things went down like they did in 3. Would've been pretty confusing if nobody understood why alma was preggers and why Paxton wanted that family reunion at the end of 3. I love this series.

FEAR 2 is great. I enjoyed it more than the first. Playing it again now on my Xbox One, it still holds up.

Back in my 2000's pc gaming days, I found a Max Payne 2 mod that turned the effects way up and scaled them to FEAR-level environmental mayhem. It was awesome, the game was made for it...I just can't find it anymore, it was the perfect mod!

It was a pity how they treated Beckett in FEAR.3 , to me that game was the weakest of the 3
