I really wish more boat channels showed the nitty gritty of owning a boat. Living at sea in the Bahamas or Caribbean seems soooo glorious and nice and relaxing but yall keep it real. The maintenance, constant money being spent, getting water, lack of storage food space and such is not for the weak. I am the weak lol so I get to live vicariously through you guys <3
ОтветитьWow a lot of tiny projects story of my life🥵
Beautiful stingray painting 👌
Have fun at the boat show
🙏❤️🇺🇸👊🏼
Is that a pick-a-nick basket, boo-boo bear?😂
Ответитьalways enjoy your videos!!
ОтветитьWow such a nice watercolor 🫶
ОтветитьWow, that was one huge dump on the dingy! Haha! What has it been eating? :D Great video guys! Always a joy to watch and see what you are up to!
ОтветитьPatrick, now you can chisel everything - so artsy boat😂
ОтветитьHonestly, I love this type of video just as much as the social media highlight reels. It’s great seeing you guys really lean into the lifestyle, and sharing the little annoying bits keeps the reality forefront. Michaela, I’d 100% buy a sticker of your watercolor painting! Patrick, I got anxiety when I saw you working on that engine just over the water. I would have dropped my tools in the soup for sure! 😂 Thank you guys for sharing your journey with us every week. I know I look forward to your videos. 🙏🏻
ОтветитьNever mind a new dinghy line, a dinghy cover might be a better investment lol Gutted for you both that a bird used it as target practice; but on the plus side I do hope you saw the funny side of it! Neurodivergent side of my brain has to offer a "fix" for the future ... If you ever suffer bird mess in the dinghy again maybe it would be easier to empty it of stuff, remove the motor and then hang it up from a davit to then hose it down? That way you can remain on Thalia (so less likely to suffer motion sickness) plus you don't necessarily need to get quite so up close and personal and can avoid the worst of the odour. Fingers crossed though it never happens again!
Unfortunately I won't be at the boat show myself. Slight problem of being on the wrong side of the Atlantic for me lol Maybe in years to come I might make the flight over .. I've always wanted to get to KSC (and now Boca Chica as well!) and my youngest wants to go back to NYC after a visit last year as part of a skiing trip (so dad (me) is under orders to save up to take him skiing again lol).
Another couple of practical ideas where I've had similar experiences and needed to sort out the same issues;
For the fridge with the freezer unit one option could be sticking your fridge stuff into a bag that you could put into a bucket of water which should keep things cool. Then either let the ice melt naturally or use a hair dryer if you're able to use one without overloading your batteries.
Good to hear you talk about water use and the issues of whether to manually carry from the shops and reload tanks, or to get a water filtration system. Personally speaking I would look into the water filtration system as modern ones are really good at removing impurities that your concerned about. Maybe if you're able to find a couple of boat owners who use a system then you could see what they experience with their systems? When I was travelling around Asia a lot of places were introducing reverse osmosis systems in to provide drinkable water and these systems can be really good. The other thing to think about is what happens if you find yourself in a more remote place and stuck for a bit? Having a water filtration system in a remote place could prove useful when anchored at remote islands.
And those boat cards I'm sure are long overdue for you guys! Hopefully they'll also help you organically grow your YT subscribers as people meet you both and decide they want to follow the experiences of two lovely human beings 😎
Oh man! Nobody likes dung on their dingy. Dam birds. That was borderline criminal😂
ОтветитьYou have a great talent as an artist!
ОтветитьCheck the props not damaged check the vertical shaft is straight and the bearings are good , but check your plugs and leads to make sure they are firing consistently if the motor uses a coil and distributor check the condensors not breaking down.
Loved the Manta ray... Marlin make great subjects as the shift colours when hunting.
I if that’s an end piece, it’s a newel post. If it’s one of the spindles in a rail, it’s a baluster.
ОтветитьAlways great to see your art Michaela! Enjoy the show!
ОтветитьHey Patrick.. the keys I noticed a float on there but I have a question for you have you tried to see if the float floats all the keys on there.. like in a bucket? Keep up the great attitude you guys have it will carry you through anything ❤
ОтветитьI am not a wanna be sailor. Confident my motion sickness would be overwhelming and at 62 not practical. I watch multiple big and small sailing channels. You are my favorite. Your art is beautiful!!!
ОтветитьYou’re smart not using the water maker in the ICWW or any inland waters. The membrane is designed to remove salt. Just a tiny amount of oil or other pollutants will kill the membrane. When we had the boat yard, we replaced many membranes for sailors who “knew better than the damn experts”. The water maker on our last Prout made great tasting water for over 10 years with zero maintenance other than changing the raw water filters.
You are right about needing a freezer. If you can make one fit, we found the top opening freezers to be more efficient than the front door type.
Enjoy the boat show.
Wow that's crazy You said you'll be heading back out for the Caribbean in a couple weeks The time sure has flew by for me I'm sure probably not for you guys. I don't blame you for not wanting to make water out of the Chesapeake Bay especially there like you said with all the boats that are coming in. Your artwork is amazing, I didn't think I can even draw a straight line but it's beautiful another gift that you have. Enjoy the boat show as always God bless and stay safe out there
ОтветитьHave you tried running premium fuel with the additive that removes ethanoyl? I noticed a difference in my 200hp yamaha OB. I only use mid to premium in small engines now and the boat. Plus a couple times in the summer months I'll add a can of Sea Foam each to my 2 20gal tanks. Makes the '06 Yamaha purr. Maybe the fuel/oil mixture. Also After each use I'll remove all 6 spark plugs and clean them with a small wire brush with parts cleaner. Hope this helps.
ОтветитьYour Starlink will have an issue under your cover. It needs to see the sky where the satellites are
ОтветитьMichaela, your art is beautiful ❤
ОтветитьI love these ‘life on the anchor’ videos. You included a bit of everything I enjoy — food, art, routine chores, and boat work. I’d totally buy a t-shirt with that manta!
ОтветитьI loved your watercolor!! It took me years to not be heavy handed and do multiple glazes, but you did it! The texture also FANTASTIC!! Love all the projects and watching make your boat into a home for the two of you❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьMaybe a little water in the gas or air/vacuum leak. Do you have a fuel filter on your dinghy?
ОтветитьYou may want to check the flywheel gap on your dingy.
ОтветитьI am truly amazed how much you both do to fix your boat .
ОтветитьHi Patrick and Michaela... Better late than never to pop in and say hi!! It's been a busy day and I'm getting a late start to watching one of my favorite sailing channels..
I think the whole grocery shopping thing whether on a boat or at a house on land is over rated and frustrating, first you have to put your groceries in the cart, take them out to scan and pay, load em up in bags, take them to the car and load em up, unload, then into the house/boat to be put away.. It's exhausting to even think about 😅
And it doesn't matter if you're on land or sea, there are always chores and maintenance to do.. ugh... :)
Thanks for taking us along with you even on those days that aren't so much fun, it's reality and that's not always glamourous!! Looking forward to next weeks video!! Have a good week.
Great to see a day in the life of . . .
Day to day life is part of sailing . . Tbh id rather see the work that goes into it than just sailing . .
The freezer is going to make such a difference . .
Till next time take care . .
Bye from NZ👋🇳🇿👍🍻twa
Honestly, I like repair and upgrade videos. Keep them coming.
ОтветитьTO THE BAHAMAS !
Ответить❤😊
ОтветитьMost people recommend mounting your epirb outside next to your helm. If your boat sinks, the epirb won't do much good at the bottom of the ocean. Just a thought.
ОтветитьBoat cards are one of those things you do not know you need until you have them! See you at the show! ⛵️⛵️⛵️
ОтветитьWow. I really enjoyed watching you create the water color. Definitely need more.
ОтветитьNot only beautiful but talented too.
ОтветитьWow Michaela,, your watercolor is beautiful,, I enjoy the freshness , real and true you both are. As always ❤, wish you the very best ,
ОтветитьIt's the everyday video that I really enjoy actually. I love the white sands and clear water ones of course, but the realistic vids keep me coming back! Thank you for sharing your story.
ОтветитьAlways something to be done on the boat.
ОтветитьBoat life is about a lot of things including the daily living things that most dry landers forget we have to do. I do miss the things that made the entire experience enjoyable but at 85 I can no longer do. Wish I had started at your ages. Enjoy life.
ОтветитьThe day to day videos are more interesting than travel ones in my opinion. lol
ОтветитьPelicans and cormorants are THE WORST!!
ОтветитьThis was an awesome episode! Real life is always fascinating to others because for each, the other's experience is so much different from our own. Also liked seeing the pertinent videos more than once in the preview and main event modes, that is not seen often by creators. Also liked seeing the fast motion water color creation, looking forward to seeing the baluster go into the galley! 🖌
ОтветитьI enjoyed having drinks the other night. It appears you sent the birds over to my dinging 😢.
ОтветитьYour Art work is Raymarkable
ОтветитьNot the duck poop!! They ended up getting our's twice lol
ОтветитьVids are aok
ОтветитьOne of my favourite videos! I love watching you just do regular boat stuff! And what a beautiful picture you are very talented!
ОтветитьWho is going to be at the Annapolis Sailboat show!?! We will be there so please reach out and say hello (and get some Thalia stickers!) ⛵🎉
Ответить
