Digital FPV just got a lot less expensive // FAT SHARK RECON HD WALKSNAIL AVATAR GOGGLE

I just realized that I never SAID that they have USB HDMI output just like the bigger goggles. They do.

With advances in VR Google’s, any chance that that could be a possible market for a receiver based product, I.e. any googles with an HDMI input?

Hi. Are these the same size as the Cobra X? my glasses fit in those. Still can't decide, if I should only upgrade my Cobra X V2 or go for the Recon HD goggles and vtx kit separately. Thought? ;) thanks, P. Sidd

Hi joshua..i'm new in fpv..may i ask u a question..can i use this goggle to fly with analog drones?

To be honest, I don't feel like the skyzone cobra X should be recommended in any way. I got mine less than two months ago, probably less than 20 flights on them, screen won't turn on anymore. Looking online, this looks like a frequent issue, and skyzone support do not seem to answer at all. Being the "Most expensive box goggles", it makes it expensive for a 2 months lifespan.Sure, they got lot of good features for someone that is starting analog, considering they can potentially be used later for HD with the hdmi input, but yeah. Lot of people are having issues with them, skyzone isn't really taking care of it.. It leaves new pilots without goggles.

Is anyone out there that have tried to modify the goggles with external antennas?

I got the Recon HD goggles and using them feels like I'm in the back of a movie theatre. The screen feels like it's about 6 inches away from my eyes. What is the experience with the Dominators? How much would it feel like I am more to the front of the movie theatre if any?

Why does it seem like the Recon goggles have about 10ms more latency than the Dominator?

IPD is a main selling point of those I guess. Anyone with IPD >70mm is bound to box googles sadly

The HDZero/Sharkbyte version of this goggle was/is called the "Scout HD". Same thing I'm sure just different VRX. I just picked up the OLED Walksnails and I am not impressed compared to my DJI V2 goggles. Yes the range sucks but my complaint isnt the range but the key holes I feel like I'm looking through combined with chromatic aberration the cheap lenses create. I flew a few flights then switched back to my V2 goggles flying the same size class quad and the feel was completely different. Right about that time I got a notice from getfpv that the Scout HD's were back in stock so I pulled trigger on them and a HDzero mobula6. I will eventually try the OLED hdzero's but if the eye pieces are as small as this Walksnail I dunno what I'm gonna do. Wish I could run HDMI into my DJI V2's(I know you can RCA to HDMI convert but that's not nearly the same).

This made me dizzy. No more circles 😬

Why are those goggles so much more expensive than vr- headsets like the quest 2?

I have spent thousands of dollars over the years on high end goggles and always found cheaper box goggles just work best for me.

Been a couple years since I've flown. I have some HD2s... And all this other stuff is confusing lol. Too many options that aren't compatible with each other.

It would be really cool to fly a real quad. The simulator is awesome and I've gotten pretty good. I just hope real life is like the sim

With no diopter, adjustment for each eye. That's a toy and a deal killer for me. And now you know. What farsighted people will do. We'll walk away. As no diopter is no good for anybody. Then it's nothing but a toy.

Plus, 1080 P resolution. That close to your eyes. Is all you need. You really can't resolve any more than that. You wouldn't see any difference if it was 8K. From, 1080 P. As your eyeballs, do not have zoom lenses. And you have no need, to inspect anyone's, personal amount of nostril hairs. You just don't need to know how many they have. That kind of resolution would not improve the picture. It would only create distractions. Oh Martha look at how many nostril hairs he has! We don't really care about. And we should prevent such, dastardly high resolutions. From disturbing the passage of time and space as we know it!

Joshua, you have processed your spoken word microphone, near perfectly! You're one of the few that cares. And you've done it of so right.

For decades I am made my living, recording and broadcasting, spoken word narratives. Along with producing, tens of thousands of, commercials. For an international, advertising agency. Where you have to make certain. No one misses or misinterprets a single word. And so, that requires some fairly extreme, tonal and dynamic range processing. To fool the listeners. Into thinking it sounds, normal. And just right. And that's the mark of a good audio engineer.

Joshua you definitely get my seal of approval. With an excellent sounding voice track.

About glasses not fitting goggles. Glasses can be bought cheap, buy a small pair that will fit your goggles.

A lot of people talking about latency on their Google... Sure, if you fly in tight space and do some freestyling stuff, latency matter. But what about cruising fpv pilot like me? You don't really need super low latency imho...

Currently looking at FAT SHARK RECON HD vs Dji v2. The difference in price currently with the compatible air unit accounted is 588.43 CAD vs 830.25 CAD (tax included).
Cant really decide which one I want to get especially because DJI is a gold standard. 588 CAD is not that cheap and at that point I think I would rather raise the bar to the dji and get something that we already know is really good.

Any tips? Im absolute beginner in the FPV and trying to pick the best gear to buy.

Currently looking at getting:
- TX16S Hall Radio Controller
- dji v2 goggles and
- building my own 5' drone with 5s or 6s battery for outdoors freestyle. (I've built a lot of Arduino projects in the past so I dont think it would be a big deal in building a drone)

Did anyone else have to look away because you got dizzy AF? lmao WHEW got up to fast and walked into my wall :)

Joshua, I also wear glasses, but a quick fix for me for tight fit goggles is that I just pop in my contact lenses then I’m good to go!

Personally I like the box goggles from fatshark. They're small, light, and I got use to the 16:9 format. My hope is a more non-proprietary HD system comes. The hd side of the house has definitely segregated the community.

Spinning doesnt give you any time to see the video. And a direct comparison doesn't work unless it's a direct comparison. So sorry to say, it was a fail.
