I get where they’re coming from with the don’t buy/buying guide. I actually think a buying guide helps to make shoppig more intentional. And as with all shopping, you can know how to look and pass when that part isn’t for you. But I get it. It just wasn’t a total faux pas for me.

Wait a minute, this was supposed to be how to stop buying and you had me wanting to buy more things, lol.

I'm a little confused about this video ... I thought I was watching a video about not buying stuff , just to have stuff shown to me saying "hey buy this , this is great, everyone needs this"... Bottles, cups, skin care, jewelry, trivets, wallets, travel bags, picture frames...It was the majority of the video. This makes no sense...

❤Dawn,❤ I'm appealing to your good heart to do your own investigation of Trades of Hope and also change the title of this video to something that indicates it's mostly gift buying ideas. Labeling something "How to (ACTUALLY) Stop Buying: 4 Unconventional Tips" then promoting products for 2/3 of the video can do real harm to people with impulsive shopping difficulties---not least if it causes them to miss out on your helpful decluttering and minimalism content because they've unsubscribed! 🤪

I know many people have called your attention to the fact that T of H is a multi-level marketing company. What that means in practice according to warnings about MLMs by the FTC and other reputable sources is that the vast majority of T of H's stateside salespeople are likely to LOSE money by affiliating with the company, and a tiny percentage at best will make less than a fast food workers income but withOUT health benefits or the peace of clocking out and not feel pressured to recruit everyone they know. I understand that part of being a good-hearted person is projecting one's own good intentions onto others and not wanting to believe the worst of people (or companies). But I hope you'll consider that that also includes believing the good intentions of those of us trying to warn you about T of H.

The fact that in your most recent video you displayed custom earrings you've been working on with T of H even after multiple people's warnings is what prompted me to write this and urge you to do your own due diligence before promoting them further.

I was hoodwinked by a company that exploited my desire to help people and I still feel bad years later about all the people I unwittingly sold their products to. : - (

P.S. It's worth mentioning that I've worked in both jewelry manufacturing/sales and website content creation, and my concerns are for the international workers as well. The majority of T of H's products appear to be mass-produced items designed to appear "artisan" made, and the smoke-and-mirrors language on their website about who's making what and how people are paid makes me suspect the majority of workers are actually earning pennies at best per item. It seems likely many are doing last-stage assembly or packaging jobs with a high risk of repetitive use injuries and very low pay as opposed to the picturesque artisan work in villages that's so heavily promoted in T of H's marketing.

Unless T of H can provide verifiable DETAILED proof of actual earnings and profit allocation percentages for all the stateside and international workers that meets high ethical standards, I would walk not run from this company before it permanently damages your own brand. There are so many good ways to help women in need at home and abroad that don't give the lion's share of profits to a couple of already wealthy business owners in the United States. ❤

My favourite was a weekend away without the kids, I definitely needed the break.

But this mother’s day was the most special my two kids got up early, were very quiet and let me sleep in while they spent 2hrs making me a roulade cake as they remembered me saying I can’t make them and I love them! And they filled the dishwasher with all the dirty dishes from making it too!

Dawn I am not a critical person but I didn’t like this video. Maybe you should do a separate channel for this type of influencing.

This video was really disappointing. The tone and mood of the last half of the video was really cringey to me. I am a long time follower, and I do feel there's been a change in the content in the last year. There are a lot more videos about buying things, such as new organizers, etc. The channel used to be much more about making do, being happier with less, and what do we truly need? I am not giving up on Dawn, but again, this was really disappointing. I know Dawn does look at comments, so I hope she will see and hear us.

My son always gives me cash, bless him. Asked for cash from daughter this year, she usually gets me hanging baskets but having knee surgery so the garden is on it’s own. Cash is always useful for any occasion.

Another thing I often do is to save the item that I like on a wish list or a bookmark and then I can walk away from it. I almost never go back to my bookmarks and only occasionally to my wish lists. But it allows me to walk away and yet not feel like I told myself "no" when I'm really ambivalent. But in the long run, it works out great since I so rarely purchase anything like that. And then I can close the tab and not waste mental energy thinking about whether I will buy it or not.

I don’t understand why you are advertising so many items in this video when it’s about stopping impulse buying.

My favorite MD gift of all time was the year that my family took me to Home Depot and purchased my choice of fire-proof bricks and together we built a simple fire pit in our yard. We had years of memories built around that fire pit. I absolutely LOVED it!!!! 🔥 It’s funny to me that after 20 years in that home, the fire pit was the saddest thing that I left behind.

I’m actually disappointed that you weren’t up front that Trades of Hope is a multi level marketing company. It’s unfortunate that this organization chose to structure such a great mission in such a way to take advantage of the artisans they’re “helping”.

January's All Day Declutter was still the most productive day I've had in 2024!

I used to enjoy watching your videos when you started because your focus was on decluttering and simplifying, which I found helpful. Then I stopped watching because you are constantly marketing products, which is a contradiction to what you teach. This episode is entitled, "How to Stop Buying" yet you have marketed 4 products, and I am barely halfway through the video. Here is how to stop buying but here is this thing to buy and here is that thing and buy from this organization...oh look at all these wonderful things that you can buy. I didn't even finish watching; it is such a mixed message.

Out of a 21 minute video only 6 mins were actually talking about (only) 4 tips to stop buying followed 15 minutes talking about thing TO buy?!?!

Okay so let’s just say… “You don’t have to buy alllll the things” 🛍️ 😂 and we’ve had Mother’s Day already in the UK. I think this video highlights how much we are marketed to.

Dawn, I love your channel and all of your ideas....but I really think this should’ve been two separate videos. One for "how to stop shopping" and one for "mother's day gift ideas". Together they felt like an oxymoron. Sorry for the constructive feedback xx
