where did you get the copper plate?
Ответитьbtw.. to remove that gunky thermal paste around the GPU core where its still between those tiny transistors..
use a brand new toothbrush.. it works 100 times better than cotton swabs and will not damage any component.
and imho never overdo it on the thermal paste to the point where it LEAKS beyond the gpu's where it can touch the transistors around the core
I noticed my pc having higher latency whenever those transistors are dirty with thermal paste (I always use MX4)
I can't belive this is a 6k sub channel producing this level of content. Criminally undervalued you are my friend, very very well done! You are putting multi billion dollar corpo R&D shops to shame.
Ответитьhmmm, I think I need to buy some copper :D I have a fermi 480 :D perfect for the test, if I measure something wrong and mill it wrong, it won't hurt as much as destroying an rtx 3090 :D
ОтветитьHold on a minute, there’s absolutely no difference in moisture level between air cooling and water cooling as long as your loop isn’t leaking, and if your loop is leaking on to your graphics card, it’s gonna get fried before it has a chance to corrode. So there’s no reason you couldn’t use copper shims for water cooling, just make damn sure you get the correct size.
Ответитьnah, as long as everything is below 80 degrees is will be fine. They are made to tolerate 105 degree high-stress high workload before throttling down
ОтветитьShould've used grizzly graphite pads for the GPU.
ОтветитьBOTH Videos are Awesome!!! Thak you kindly!!!
Can you do one with "Graphite Thermal Pads"?
Life-Time REUSES (Until "torn")
Temp. Drop: UPTO 20'C+
COST THE SAME... MAYBE... [WAY] CHEAPER... "?"
(1). CONTROLLED Application (ZERO Shorts)
(2). Cut-to-Size (ZERO ^^^ "Spillage")
(3). Multiple Thickness
(4). Multiple REUSES
USESD FOR:
VRMs, CPUs, GPUs, ect.
Great video i have 6700xt sapphire pulse where do i find copper plat that matches my gpu?
ОтветитьGreat! Now I don't just want a set of shims... I want a 'Custom Copper Plate'.
ОтветитьHi plz what s the thickness of the copper mod? I have same rtx3070ti Tuf OC.
Ответитьits been a year since u uploaded videos and i just found u. why did u stop uploading videos?
ОтветитьNow do the same mod, but also on watercooling block.
ОтветитьThis is infinitely harder since i'm using liquid metal
ОтветитьI'd rather proceed with this mod instead of using smaller copper squares because it seems to be more stable and less likely to move around
ОтветитьWow amazing, Can you give me the technical specifications of that copper plate, or the CNC drawing?
ОтветитьAlways fun to see such a massive improvement.
ОтветитьDandy so i have to ask, we should use same thickness as the original pads always? im using 1.5mm on my EVGA hybrid cooled 3090 and i feel like temps are not great, this uses original 2.25mm thickness so what should i use thick wise for new shims?
Ответитьwhat about using thermal glue? wouldnt that be safer to do as it would avoid the shims shifting around
Ответитьlost me when you use a gpu for mining . literally the reason ppl suffered all these years ,, .
Ответитьis there any full copper plate for gtx 1070 or only small copper pads??
ОтветитьHonestly it would be a better question to ask how this held up in about a year.
Also MX-4 seems like it would've been fine instead of going kryonaut. The copper plate would've been my go to since it would mean less measuring on my end.
my asus tuf 5600 xt known to throttle above 78C never had any issue after i simply replaced the paste with noctua and double the pads. I stays in 78C by day and 76C by night for almost a week now with the addition of stabling my oC. No more rig reset in mining.
ОтветитьI wonder why they don't copper plate the heatsinks? The steel would be really easy to copper plate and surely it would conduct heat away much better if it was copper plated?
ОтветитьThere are currently 113 Dislikes.
ОтветитьIf I had one thing to say it would be you can definitely use less capton tape.
ОтветитьI stopped the video at the first step and after I dipped in water... does not seem like that helped
Ответитьwait... how are you mining on a RTX 3070 Ti ? aren't all of the RTX 3070 Ti "LHR" variants ??
ОтветитьBut what about 2 years later? Most of us would like to do the mod, but taking the card in and out isn't really something we enjoy. I'd wager people want to mod it and forget it for a couple years, only looking in at the card through the case window, and gaming on it.
ОтветитьWhat if you apply a thermal pad directly on the die with a copper shim on top?
Ответитьwhy not undervolted?
ОтветитьObrigado por postar. tenho a mesma placa que a sua, e vou colocar meu pads assim que der tempo. Eu comprei pads de bloco unico.
Ответитьhey there ! very nice content, I watched the complete process and I'm very interrested in the modification of my 2 rtx 3090, but I can't figure the thickness of the copper plate. Also, are you using a plate coming from coolmygpu ? or is it a custom made ? Because as there are ram chips on the two sides I dunno what to use : big copper plate or small ones like you used on the previous video. advice needed here. Moreover, I never did such a modification on a gpu, but I feel confident.
Ответитьhello and congratulations on the video! really interesting!
i wanted to ask you a question, how thick are the copper thermal pads?
also, is this thickness the same for all types of rtx 3070ti (asus evga zotac etc.. ec..)?
thanks i'm waiting for your answer
Thank you!
I have 1.6mm copper plate, when I start mining my memory temperatures are getting low but my core temperatures are getting high
ОтветитьCan you tell me the thickness of it
ОтветитьI have a doubt( please dont judge me ) so you have the chip at certain temperature , thermal paste compound conductivity is 6W-21W depending on brand and etc , the copper is pretty high but let say a copper shimmer you use is 200 W/mk , so if you tranfer the heat from the chip at a 17W/mK to the copper shimmer then the copper shipper transfers to the other layer of compound at 200W/mK and then the compound to the cooler at 17W/mK , so wouldnt you profit more to use just the copper as a conductant between them or just use thermal paste only between the chip and the cooper ?
if anyone could explain properly would apreciate a lot , best regards to everyone
Can you put a copper on the big chip ?
ОтветитьExcelente video, voy a comprar las tres cosas en Amazon y ya veremos qué tal me va, en mi caso tengo la 3070ti aorus gaming espero que funcione para mí!!
ОтветитьYa should rename into CopperDandy, j/k, those vids are really cool and helpful. Thank you
Ответитьi have a evga 1660ti sc ultra and id love to do a copper mod but my memory does not have any cooling no pad no heatsink. only pads on the backplate so im not sure how i would mod it. and i cant monitor mem temps in the first place
ОтветитьI want to mod a 6800xt
ОтветитьYes bro. Whats life without a bit of risk
ОтветитьOr go for nickel plated copper plates.
ОтветитьI'm 99% an alcoholic too
ОтветитьHello, american bro! For a month, you did not find the pump out effect on the chip?
ОтветитьHi. awesome video. it's just what i need for my gpu. it goes to 95° and does thermal trhotling.
I need help, I'm new to this and I don't know the height of the copper I need. Would it be 0.5mm or 1mm? Could you help me please
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070 vision oc 8g
Thank you very much for your help. Greetings from Argentina.
For those trying to do this (as this is a 3070TI video and the 3080TI FE generates more heat):
1) I put Kryonaut over the VRAM chips, AND in the spaces around the VRAM chips. I did not use Kapton Tape.
2) Make sure that you use 1.5MM copper pads for the 3080 TI FE. If you use a combination of 1MM copper + .5MM pad, you can have hotspot temp spikes if your heatsink assembly has uneven surfaces or other manufacturing defects. Which can cause the GPU to cause emergency PC shutdown. I have NOT had that issue after removing Copper + Thermal Pad and only using 1.5MM pads and copius thermal paste to prevent shorting.
3) Installation is paste over/around VRAM chips, place copper pads onto VRAM chips, more thermal paste on the top/sides of the copper pads.
What about copper mod the VRM sector? :D
