Neil has had his chance as an attacking box to box midfielder - the data tells you he doesn’t score goals and has very few assists

Dan is a box to box midfielder , but he is not being played in that role. If he was switched back to being an attacking midfielder as opposed to sitting in front of back four. You would see how good he is.

Neil just doesn't look comfortable in that deep lying role, gave the ball away a lot too, can't agree with you that he's not been sub par this season.

I was expecting 200 replies of " the wheels have fallen off" , because some fans love it when we start to lose and fall away.
How dare we be near the top

Would we really be starting Neil if he hadn't been come through academy? A player who often loses the ball, loses his head and misreads the play. I think fans needs to look at him as if he's come through the door like a signing and take local bias out the situation.

The Boro red card was not harsh, it was too yellows that was justified. He lost his head and showed a lack solid temperament that we need in a captain. When your leaders lose their heads, it tells the rest of the squad of the type of mentality that gets accepted. It leads to soft underbellies and Blackburn at home. We need to stop excusing bad behaviour, otherwise the naughty child will still keep acting up.

What went wrong, Dan Neil was on the pitch.

If Dan Neil wasn't a local lad and an academy graduate he'd be no where near the first team. We must face facts as he flatters to deceive; he's slow, lacks physicality, can't tackle or pass and in my opinion has very few redeeming features.

Our two defeats this season ( Plymouth & Watford) stem from the fact we still look vulnerable when pushing to many players forward trying to win late on in the game. We need to learn as a team, (coaches) that we can just take a point away from home especially when we haven't played that well.

Neil is class had a few bad games support him he is a local lad and if history tells us anything fans slating lads can ruin their potential for no reason.

I never agree with having a pop at the players. It's not productive and will never make them improve. If anything it makes them play worse because they are more nervous about messing up. Support the team or say nowt is my stance.

If Watford had a decent striker we would be top 6 but I only see us top 10 come May. I expect you boys to be there. Good luck Sunderland 👍

Neil is struggling as the deepest in a 3, he did well as a double pivot last season.
