I have one in china that gave me HS Code 8471 but it carry's 20% VAT and they said they will send it DDP but when i told them its to expensive because of the 20% VAT ill get they then said they will put the cost lower, they will do anything to get a sale in china

What about import tax duties , if i sell 14$ product i kust write it cost on invoice 14$ , how they will know in cbp it cost 14$ , what if i wrote cheaper ??? How they will check help?

Hi Kian, great video, very helpful, I had a quote in August for my HTS code classification and Duty Rate, a freight forwarder told me "in this instant there was only one classification for my product and so no alternative code may be argued" the Duty Rate 17.6% applied plus an additional 25% duty if sourced from China so my total duty is 42.6%. ...... my question is do I have to pay the 42.6% duty this time around because the goods have already reached customs? How can I avoid this for my next order? My product is similar to one that you have imported before, I wondered which code you used.

I have a question relating to duty and HTS codes and I would be very appreciative if you could share with me your thoughts on this. Supposed that you buy a $10 watch from supplier A and you buy a 2$ watch box for it from supplier B. Supplier B has to send their box to supplier A so that supplier A can help you do packaging (they put their watch in the box as a finished product) and then you can import that finished product ( watch + watch box) into the US. --> So when you search for HTS codes and calculate the duty, will you only search for the HTS code of the watch and pay duty for the watch only or you will have to search for the HTS codes of the box + the watch (1 HTS code for the box and 1 HTS code for the watch) and pay duty for both the watch and the watch box?

Where do you stand if you sell a kit say a painting kit that includes a gold leaf frame, brushes, paint, canvas and a howto book?

Also .... If the items are from different countries which country of origin would you use?
The most hazardous one (say paint), the most valuable (the frame) or the one with the lowest rate (the canvas).
All just examples, (I don't do paint brushes & I don't know the rates).
