Hello, thanks for this video! I’m searching the net high and low to find out, if Smart Connect is good or bad if one has a lot of 2.4GHz iot / smart home devices (sensors, cameras etc). Currently I have my smart devices on their own 2.4GHz SSID using one of Netgear’s more recent Access Points, the WAX206. I have two additional SSIDs that can either be 2.4GHz, 5GHz or “Both” (dual simultaneous). I only have one of the two currently used in “Both”mode using a different password.

Do you know, if I turn on the 3rd band and name it exactly the same as the second band (and make it “both 2.4+5GHz simultaneous) and select “Smart Connect” (which seems to apply to all three SSIDs, looks like I can’t just have it on for the 2nd two ssids) will the AP open all three bands for access by all devices, potentially causing problems with my smart devices or will it respect the fact that the 2.4GHZ band has its own password and keep those devices separate? I like them separate for security reasons too (that 2.4GHz band has client isolation enabled and access to ethernet port devices and the AP / router GUI disable. Want to find out from someone who really knows what’s going on under the hood before I break dozens of devices! thank you from Los Angeles.

Shouldn't it be 6 GHz instead of 5 GHz twice?

Okay, but the "tri-band" router has three "wireless interfaces." There will be a 2.4GHz interface, a 5GHz interface, and a 2.4/5GHz interface. Each can be assigned a unique SSID. If I give them all the same SSID will that cause the router to automatically distribute the load?

@powerCert Animated Videos: as you mentioned in tri band router we have two 5 GHz bands and one 2.4 GHz band. My query is if router has two bands with the same frequency side by side the interference will be more right? Is there any difference in channels used or modulation in these two 5GHz bands??

@PowerCert Animated Linksys AC3000 Smart Mesh Wi-Fi Routerideos, it being July 2021 and wi-fi 6on the scene, do you have an updated router recommendation or do you stand by the same TP-Link router as linked to in the description? I'm looking at the Linksys AC3000 Smart Mesh Wi-Fi Router. It's a little more coverage than I need (up to 3,000 sq ft, I need about 2,200 sq ft) but it looks like a good choice and is tri-band. Your thoughts. Thanks!
