My dreams don’t include riding in some car made in a Communist country and supporting their economy and worldwide expansion . No Sir, I won’t be handing them my money. There are EV ‘s made in non Communist countries out there.

Mmmmm very interesting. Looking to go full EV from next year. My choice was refreshed MG ZS long-range or Kia Niro EV. This car could now be no.1 on my list! Great review again Mark👌👌

How is the car for tall people? Around 190 cm

Living in Australia, it is winter now and with 480 kms. I get a whole day and get to 88 km or 33 km left.

Hi Nobby - if you had to choose between this car (top spec) and the latest Niro (say N3 spec) which would you go for?

Where do you service them in Ireland? Do they have any kind of a dealer network?

you should always use the nav on the car instead of the one on your phone! the nav on the car can read speed from the car while the nav on your phone cannot. this makes a lot of difference when GPS signal is week or none, for example in a tunnel.
in the system, u can turn off the collision warning, and turn the emergency brake off, if u find it intrusive.

Nice review, Just a small tip. : you could remove the red wires. just for child safty haha.. and nice that is another good familie car, that just do the job proberly.

This car is part of BYD ocean series, it’s called Seal in China, hence the fish scale trim on c pillar, the water wave dashboard, vertical fan…. Atto means a very small amount of time.

This car just won New Zealand 2023 car of the year.

I test drove one of the BYD Atto 3 at Fully Charged North and all models are under the UK Luxury car tax of £40,000. The car felt very similar to my Kia E Niro, so is a very comfy and well specced car. The more I found out about BYD, the more impressed I was. I think this could be a very popular car and your review of it was spot on.

Is this car being sold in the USA?

I have been driving Japanese, Germany cars mainly, love my BMW's, but this Atto 3 blow me away from the comfort, ergonomic design, smart car system. The suspension so nicely tuned, the combination of the seat and steering wheel just perfect. The voice command can do almost everything you want the car does. The steering so precise, I can easily drive up and down the mountain with one hand. The hight of the seat is perfect for your joints in and out of the car. You can grab the door with handle in and out without worry. The car reminds you if you forgot the close the door, turn on the low beam light et all. The 360 degree camera is so clear can see easily at night as well, parking in a tight corner no more difficult at all.

Cheapest Comfort model I can find is 39.5k

Warren Buffett heard of BYD years ago and bought shares in the company.

The interior designers have been watching too many sci fi movies. Argh!

Hi Nobby, thanks for a very sensible review. I picked up my atto3 2 months ago, identical to the one reviewed. I spent 2 years and road tested 11 pure electric cars while waiting for the Atto3 to arrive. So glad I waited, I love it. It's true it is a bit pricey, but what's the point of settling for something you don't really want because it's cheap. It's a dream to drive plenty of power. Luckily ours come with continental 235/50/18s. None of this batman rubbish. I'm getting about 250/260 miles per full charge fairly sedate urban driving. I can live with the guitar strings ,no probs, but the the letters on the trunk had to go pretty quick. Fantastic panoramic sunroof, nice bright interior, absolutely no regrets.

Mark, pricing seems wrong. You haven’t added the €2k dealer related charges. MSL Navan Road is 39k for the base model and 41k for the top model.

Boot size isnt bad, do the rear seats fold flat? The interior, especially in the front wouldnt be my cup of tea at all, seems tacky and kitsch, but the spec and range at that price seems pretty good.

The BYD Atto3 is probably the best all-round compact fully electric SUV on the market now. Far better than anything the Europeans are producing in that segment.

Also note you dont get floor mats with the comfort, and as mentioned the base model Active is not yet available.

In another video. A guy did a 169 kmh for 150 km on the autobahn. So it can go.

Good to see new products coming to the market. It's a generic looking car which will be what some people will be looking for. The interior however is a hard sell, I really don't like it, the design reminds me of Fiat interiors of the past. Great review 👍
