ОтветитьHey bro how do I frame a window
ОтветитьThe consummate pro! Thank you for detailed instructions.
ОтветитьMAN!!! Talk to us like we don't know anything! 2640!! Why can't you say 2 ft, 6 in?!! / 4 ft!! I had to watch that 5 times before I had a clue what 2640 meant! Damn dude!
ОтветитьYou guys are amazing. Watching your video's and learning from you is fantastic!
ОтветитьCan someone please explain to me "2640"?
ОтветитьI don't get the 2640 thing? Could someone explain?
Ответитьwatch your vids every day ... I dont know way YT keeps cueing you guys up all the time, like I dont know ow to frame ??? SO if the plans say its a 36X48 window what are the ruff openings +1in ? I honestly dont like framing unless the window and door package is already at the job. So I am framing out a small house so its scary not having my 6 - 48 X48 windows 1 - 36 in door ... Tnx
ОтветитьJack length is 81 and a half no?
ОтветитьWindow opening was supposed to be 30 and a half?
Ответить100 year old tech,
really guys?
More insulation 1/2 as much framing lumber.. Not 1970
Went way over my tiny brain lol
ОтветитьAs the old cliche says, there are more than one way to skin a cat.
Fact is that there are ways to frame a house where you can save a considerable amount on framing lumber without sacrificing the integrity/strength of the home.
And one of those ways is by eliminating unnecessary wall studs.
Save 50 studs on a house, and over the coarse of a year how much does that amount to in savings?
Of coarse if you build one or 2 homes per year it dosent add up to much savings.
But what if your building 50 homes per year?
Think of it this way, if you see a dime laying on a sidewalk will you bother to pick it up?
Well saving lots more on just the amount of studs used is just that easy.
Whats the purpose of a jack stud?
Supporting the end of a header.
So if the headers were extended to the next wall stud, and the jack stud installed where it should be, how many studs would be saved on that one window opening?
How many windows are there in the house?
Take a look at your walls after you nail all your studs in place.
How many could be eliminated without sacrificing any strength to the home?
Why do you need a stud on each side of every parallel partition?
Because they act as a backer for the drywall?
How do you insulate those spaces? how many of those type spaces are there in the entire house?
How do you go about framing the corners of the house?
Can you install insulation in those also?
Could we build that corner by using a total of 3 studs on both walls and be able to insulate it?
Instead of a stud on each side of a parallel partition, would one 2x6 turned flat serve as a backer and allow for insulating behind it?
I mean if were willing to place roof trusses and floor trusses on 24” centers, then why cant we frame in such a way as to save on lumber there as well?
Fact is that we can, but old habits prevent us from doing it.
Do you know how Levitt built all those houses at the low prices he sold them?
Well i can tell you for a fact that he didnt cheat on the material.
But he didnt waste anything either, nor did much get carted away in the workers pickup trucks either.
Sometime take a walk thru of a Toll Bros house before its been drywalled.
What type of a tool belt do you think each of them prefer? lol
Two commercials in the first five minutes. Geez, worse that television.
ОтветитьThere are better and faster ways to do this.
ОтветитьThank you very much
ОтветитьExactely that's why the huricanes takes your houses away!!! Great job!!
ОтветитьExcellent work young fellow !!
ОтветитьWhat's 2640?
ОтветитьWhat states allows headers like that ?
ОтветитьWhy write “2640” instead of just “26x48.”
ОтветитьBefore you guys were born I was working as a union carpenter on a large apartment complex and was pissed off by the fact that two old men had the easy job of pre-cutting for all the openings. When I needed to frame one I would pick up a package properly marked for that opening. I presume that practice saved a lot of time. Also back then (and possibly today) because we were all paid the same the older, more experienced men wouldn't help the younger ones??
ОтветитьI know my math is bad but how does 2640 calculate to a window that is 30” x 48”. He said earlier that the rough opening is 30” . I’m not following the logic.
ОтветитьHi. I’m another bot here to talk about how amazing this video is!
ОтветитьWhy are you putting a 2x4 or 2x6 horizontally underneath the header (Thermal Bridging)
ОтветитьCan u explain why there was 2 cripples on one side and one cripple on the other side
ОтветитьThank you very much
ОтветитьYou've lost me at the 2640. How do those numbers correspond to 48 x 30?
ОтветитьYou don’t add extra inches for the rough opening ?
Ответитьcan you make a video of showing how to do lintels over full height windows
Ответить500th comment!
ОтветитьSafety Glasses brother, I don't know of any blind carpenters that have steady work
ОтветитьWhat does 2640 represent?
ОтветитьWhat kind of pencil is that?
ОтветитьI love videos so mucho, kudos
ОтветитьI really enjoyed your video. It was very educational and interesting.
ОтветитьYour work looks very nice but i do have one minor comment in regards to compression , the way you put the top sill or whatever you call it in your area is not neccessarily wrong but the better way would be to have your support for header one piece instead odf sandwiching in that plate !!!! Why you ask and i may be splitting hairs but in my experience those little diagonal cracks in drywall that appear from time to time from upper corner of opening are caused by the upper sill squishing and shrinking ( as you know wood is sometimes wet and the most shrinkage occurs in that direction ..... Not that you are wrong by most definitions , but you could be better Cheers from a man with couple thousand units under my belt
ОтветитьIf the RO is 2640, is the actual size of the window 29"x47"? No one ever explains the actual size of the window and how to determine the RO. Seems simple to construction contractors but not the average DIYer trying to save money on a new workshop.
ОтветитьThank you guys for sharing your knowledge
ОтветитьI've seen other vids that use osb sandwiched between the 2x(8, 10, 12) to make a header. You are the only one I've seen use foam. Why that approach?
That idea of putting them as high as the door - I have a 66W x 36H window. It seems awfully high if I match the top to the door. Is that an aesthetic guideline only or a structurally advised choice?
lol Jaime just holding the cheese was the highlight of 2019
ОтветитьMy grandfather, my dad ,and all ten of my uncles were carpenters, man if they had power nailers
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьCan you or anyone simply explain the term "Framers High/ Framers Low" is?
ОтветитьThis is a great instruction video. Very clear directions. Well enunciated. Much appreciated.
ОтветитьThank you so much for taking the time to make videos like this it is much appreciated
