I Made The Ultimate Sim Racing Tier List

So yeah a couple of sims that were left out (purely by mistake i'll add)

R3E - Pure sim. It looked pretty dated by today's standard, but this is an awesome sim for those who aren't interested in driving GT3s at Spa over and over again (Tho you can do that if you want). It also has the Group 5 cars which are probably the most difficult/rewarding cars available to drive in any sim

LFS - I've honestly not played enough of this to give a proper opinion (my sim racing 'career' started with rF1) I'd love to hear your thoughts tho.

GTR 2 - At the time i'd label it as a pure sim, but given advances this game sorta falls into the Sim-ish catagory. Still an amazing game and definitely worth the effort of booting up every now and then.

GPL - I've never got this game working correctly so I can't comment. Ask GPLaps!

What is the absolute most fun car/game to drive? AC seems a lot harder than a real car to me. I can actually drift decently in real life, but not at all in AC. Lol

I mostly agree but if you categorize NFS Heat as full arcade then I think GRID Legends should be full arcade as well.

The original Project Cars got me into sim racing. I still play it today as the physics and ffb are phenomenal! Definitely a full-on sim, and gorgeous to boot.

I agree with most of the list except for GT7. Especially after they’ve ironed out a bit of the problems. Being in the same tier as something like wreckfast but being under DR2.0 is kinda wack. DR2.0 has wonderful dirt physics as he’s stated, but the snow/ice and tarmac are pretty atrocious. On tarmac you can just let off and throw your car into corners at speeds that are absurdly ridiculous. Either it feels like you’re glued to the track like you’ve got a lot of downforce of an LMP car. So much grip

Anyone else find it funny that he put the game that understeers and the game the over steers in the middle of the road? Hard to stay in the middle of the road if you under or over steer :P

I think Race Room deserved a mention and even maybe live for speed.

I think jim should have another look at ams2 with the hitechs. I agree, it’s still not pure simulator. But they’re definitely getting there

I’m just starting out with sim racing and I have ac but I was wondering how realistic the crew motorfest is in comparison besides the braking and acceleration?

what game is is ranked highest to lowest based on actual game engine facts though? i dont care what people like the best in there opinion which game has the most advanced physics engine period?

What most sim racing channels don't take into account when reviewing/rating sim racing games, is the damage model and mechanical part failures. Especially in rally sim games, where such things play a very important role in real racing, and current rally sim games are completely arcady in this topic. If you play a sim flying game, you have to monitor a lot of mechanical stuff, but in sim racing no. This is something that all sim racing games have to improve on.

Please do an updated list :) both GT7 & Automobilista had pretty substantial physics updates and new WRC & Forza motorsport released.

I havent played every game on your list, but i have played many of them (mostly AC, PCars, DR2, and a couple others to lesser extent). I have to cut Dirt Rally 2 some slack just for having SO much different things to try to get right. But playing on tarmac in that game really just highlights the glaring flaws in its sim value. I personally wouldnt rate it any higher than middle of the road. Please someone tell me how I'm mistaken and what i can do to make cars handle in a more realistic way though. I'd love to play that game more, but it just irks me.

I don't understand why you put a game with highly questionable and janky physics (Automobilista 2) in simulator-ish and put Gran Turismo 7 below that.... What the actual?
