With lenses, we're still talking $1k, which may be "budget" for some folks. But these are definitely great for video and vlogging. For others who primarily focus on still photography, there are super budget options. Like the Sony a6000. Or my choice, the Olympus EM5 MkI, with the Lumix 12-32; total cost c. $350. You could do something similar with older EM10 I or II, or older Lumixes. Some older Fujis would be in the ballpark, too. These cheap cameras all do video, of course, but are probably inadequate for today's needs.

I feel like I've always been smart with money and there's no way I could ever consider these as budget. I'm aware that cameras can get much more expensive. But that's a lot of money to spend on just one camera most people out can't spend that money. It's why I've never really gotten into photography that much since it's a pretty expensive hobby and it seems half the people I know from highschool are trying to be photographers and their parents pay for their stuff lol.

M50 is a great beginner cam! Easy to learn and has a tutorial/guide if you need it. Just be careful since it’s not weather sealed like canon DSLR cameras are.

Interesting comparison. My question is what is better for basic fire scene documentation? Everything I deal with is just a burned black room. I use a Nikon D7000 and can usually get the image I want, but it weighs a ton and I do alot of shoot and move. Looking for a lighter durable camera that can get the detail and depth of field from a pile of burned fire debris without switching constantly to multiple different lenses. Any edge on one of these cameras, or others to consider for this type of work?

This are reasonable options in my opinion. However it also all depends on what we are doing with a camera. Informations here are a little bit video centric. Personally few years ago I was looking for similar small APSC body for my landscape and travel photography. I was using EOS M at the time but decided to switch system because there were not many options for higher quality lenses for that system at the time (now it is better I think, there are some AF Sigma lenses for EF-M mount). Nowadays for the same reason I would not choose Z50 - selection of dedicated APSC lenses for Z mount is poor
I was considering Sony and Fuji. I’ve chosen Fuji xt20. There was huge difference in image quality between EOS M and xt20, I was not expecting that! Sony is more popular choice but somehow I liked Fuji better. My model definitely has inferior AF system compared to Canon and Sony cameras I could buy at the time but it is not as important for me because I’m landscape photographer
So remember to consider which lenses you need entering a system

What battery do you suggest for the Sony apha 7iii. I read a review saying it does not come woth one. Also, would you say it can work well just by itself withoutadditionalequipment? I mean, I definitely want a tripod but purchase a flash or speaker ect

Do NOT forget about the Lenses ! For mirrorless Cameras Sony are the King because there are so MANY Lenses in all prices, so Sony ZV-E10, Sony 6000, Sony 6100, Sony A7II, Sony A6400 these Cameras you can get for less than $900, some of them with a Lens or other equipment.

Compared to the ZV-10, the a6400 wins for me because of its evf, it’s a must have for photography. But for a beginner, these cameras are quite expensive, I think there are more affordable options in the second hand market and the most important thing is to invest in lenses.
