Strikes are not peaceful in France
ОтветитьLot of Latin American people are very similar to French culture. 😂. Interesting. This would be a cultural shock for me . Everyone is different.
ОтветитьJuste pour info La France ne se résume pas à PARIS !
ОтветитьI really feel you're describing Germans here...coming from Germany to Paris, it's the complete opposite experience
Ответить100%👍
ОтветитьAll good reasons to NEVER go to France!
ОтветитьI’m french, live in Paris, and i can say : this vidéo is excellent !! All is True ! Everybody here have seen "Emily in Paris" : "Barbie " is much more realistic 😂
Bienvenue en France, amis américains ! We remenber the D- DAY in Normandy. Thaank you !
with current rugby south african complains how rude and not incompatible they are
ОтветитьI believe they're big on home parties as well !? They used to , at least !! I grew up in that kind of environment, we used to throw home parties every weekend in Tokyo !! I think French do that on Sundays !? And if you're invited by a neighbour, that means you're welcome in the neighbourhood ! French friends were always very courteous , too !! This French lady I used to know always brought me a bouquet 💐, or a cake , or a champagne. Etc. What I like about 'em is that they think a lot ! And they are brave !! They are individualists & hardly sticking their noses into someone else's business !! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
ОтветитьFrench are very sweet !! I used to know some French in my life & had a French boyfriend, too ! They're very caring !! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
ОтветитьI didn't know they had CVS in Paris !!! Lol. Yay ! I am planning to go to CVS today ! Speaking of ! Lol. French are like Japanese ( myself Japanese )in a way when it comes to etiquette/ diets . We hardly speak on phone on trains !! I live in U.S. , though ( for 35 years !! ) & we don't eat while walking !! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞I mean hardly ! There are exceptions like ice cream & festivals , street foods .
ОтветитьAlso don’t hesitate to add a « Comment allez-vous ? » (How are you ?) after Bonjour. The person will answer by « Bien et vous ? » (well and you ?) so you can finish by a « Bien aussi, merci » (well too thanks). It’s a mark of respect showing you care about other in France. It will open you many doors on a first conversation. Even a casual one at the local bakery.
ОтветитьThank's for yours videos "Les Frenchies" !
I completely agree with the comment about public toilets in Paris. (10' in the video)
Let's be honest, there aren't anywhere (or they are broken, unusable, don't count on that)
(It's shameful for a European capital.)
If you have an "emergency" go to a cafe, order "an espresso" or a "limonade" something cheap and ask "Où sont les toilette s'il vous plait ?"
(Don't wait to be served, you have the direction: go for it!)
[I was born in Paris and have lived there for 50 years, I have the right to blame !]
I am just at shock with you two. You mentionned that Paris IS NOT France, and thats true and essential. But you still mainly focus on Paris. Its a shame.
ОтветитьBonjour
S'il vous plaît
Merci
Au revoir / Bonne journée / Bonne soirée
Basics of the basics
Great video. I’m considered a bit stiff and distant in the US but I function naturally in France. One thing as an American is the cult of service in the US but not always in France. Also get a data plan on your phone to use google etc. I find that if you just accept that France is the center of civilization you’ll get along well. Thank god shorts are now acceptable on adults in the Summer.
Ответитьbonjour , merci , au revoir this the ultimate secret /best way , just 3 simple's world who can open all the french door's
ОтветитьSimply right ;-)
ОтветитьJust one thing, Paris is not France! Try our countryside. Cheers from Lyon, west France!
ОтветитьThat is so weird to watch this as a french person 😂
ОтветитьIt's bad for health to eat or drink when standing or walking.
Ответить« Parlez-vous anglais ? » (for the language), « C’est combien s’ils vous plait ? » (for the cost) and « Les toilettes s’il vous plait ? » (for the bathroom) is maybe easier to remember. And most important « merci beaucoup », « c’est très gentil, merci » (it’s very nice, thanks)
ОтветитьTips : if you want to take your time to choose at the bakerie, say « je regarde » (that’s mean « i’m looking [at the products]») at the seller and leave the place to the next person to order (if there is a queue). The seller appreciate a lot. Unfortunately, accept that if there are a looot of people waiting for buy something, you can’t ask a lot of question to the seller. It consider very rude to ask people waiting behind you more than necessary.
ОтветитьI’m tired of hearing about “the loud Americans”. I’ve traveled the world. In my experience it’s the TOURISTS who are loud no matter the country. I’ve observed Loud German tourists in Savannah, GA, loud Japanese in NYC and Atlanta, and very loud and obnoxious Chinese tourists everywhere, especially Paris. In my experience when people go on vacation the disregard their normal standards of behavior, hence the drunken American tourists arrested in every American coastal resort.
Ответить"[french] don't eat on the go" : I strongly disagree. Older french people eat very rarely on the go. But when I was younger and a student in university, I was frequently eating on the go.
(I'm french)
And carying a cup of coffee on the go is much more common now in big cities like Paris.
You live in Chantilly ??
Or just visiting ? Aha, I have a lot of family there.
Boundary consciousness or formality is about social status . Ghettos lack formality. Not all ppl from usa lack formality. Ppl of certain status conduct themselves better in usa.
ОтветитьThe downloads do not work. 😒
ОтветитьHey i live in syria and i refuse to tell a stranger my name.. A lot more formal than u are accustomed to? I dont think so
ОтветитьVery nicely done and balanced, thanks. You can tell I need a French person was involved! :) Merci!
ОтветитьSo helpful
Ответить10% tip ? that's crazy and not really useful contrary to the usa our waiters/waitress don't rely on tips to survive
Ответить💥💥💥CITI BANK has removed ALL atm's in paris (very profitable, isn't it mmm)
There is a 10 dollar charge for every100 euros when using an ATM ....TOO MUCH!!
This is great. Thank you!
ОтветитьWho the hell asks someones name immediately when meeting them in a shopping/transactional situation? That just seems awkward and intrusive.
ОтветитьYou made a very good point when you advised tourists to ALWAYS start with "Bonjour"
It's fine if you don't speak French, we don't care, but it's always better to show that you're at least trying
True....buuuuutt....after spending a month there I have been witness to somd loud French phone conversations on the train. Breaking up is obvious in any language.
ОтветитьHi, Very good one, beeing french, almost nothing to add. Very Good. Thanks !!!
ОтветитьQuand vous avez parlé du fait de demander le nom de la boulangère, ça m'a fait rire
ОтветитьLes Frenchies you responded stating, thatFGrench waiters are dependent to receive tips to sub their low salary, since when were their salaries in near par to to slave wages of American hospotality workers
ОтветитьI've been to Paris, lived in the USA 2 years long ago, living 10 years in Spain now. Given all that said, I have to admit your video was very accurate, respectful and nice. Really enjoyed it, you're a very nice american couple.
ОтветитьI was very blessed to spend a month in Paris environs (Le Vésinet, near Versailles) in the 1980s as an exchange for having hosted the daughter of a French executive for a month in Kalamazoo, Michigan where I was living at the time. I was given a WING of their lovely chateau and enjoyed dining with the family nightly. What a treasured time. At that time, I spoke just a bit more French than I do now, and one of the favorite phrases I learned was "jeter un coup d'œil" when shopping in the city. So many smiles when I would say it, to the best of my ability, and that plus "bonjour" seemed to communicate the respect I truly felt. Respect was graciously extended to me and I had so much joy being there and being welcomed.
ОтветитьDo you make videos by yourself or hire someone??
ОтветитьI've been a couple of times in Paris (sadly just got a couple of days each time) but the experience was awesome, Parisians were kind and offered help when we were in a bit of a problem (specially in the second trip when I traveled with a small group). Most of the people I interacted spoke English (even one or two that spoke Spanish, I'm from Mexico), that and my very poor French helped me having a great time. I'm eager to go a third time for a longer time.
ОтветитьNever mind that place, i won't go to paris with lots of head ache to encounter, i can't relax ang enjoy that place.
ОтветитьAnother great video! Super useful series. Thank you! In the airport right now on my way to Paris!
ОтветитьTHANK YOU GUYS. Planning my 2024 Trip there for Olympics.
ОтветитьOne thing I found odd in France is that “cold drinks” like water and soda are served lukewarm.
ОтветитьRegarding the pharmacies — The green cross in front of a French pharmacy doesn’t mean the same thing it does in the US. French pharmacies are famous for their skincare products. In the US, pharmacies only carry inexpensive cosmetics and skincare. In France, the pharmacies carry high-end skin care carried by high-end department stores in the US.
