What about Valkur? I cant find anymore info on him besides being listed as the God of Storms...
ОтветитьHad to play the cleric and the wizard in a campaign. So i had a half-drow cleric of loviatar maiden of pain and her mulan Red wizard lover lol ... the party ended up killing them both.
Ответитьanother great video! I love the info and the time saved not having to find it myself. Really valuable content!
ОтветитьI love these videos so much, words CANNOT describe. I like the lore of DnD and Forgotten Realms, but anything Gods, related I'm there. The almighty need.
ОтветитьI would appropriate some advice on an adventure I'm thinking of making. To summarize the plot, the adventures are unknownly forced into a test of alignment where the end result of the adventure, and events during the adenture, is dictated by the adventures actions. My current plan is to have it be almost like a game for the gods, it being run by a powerful sorcerer, in the realm of limbo. He brought forward the plan to make a simulated world in this realm to pretend it was just a normal town.
I ran on a little long, but my question is based on your 'magic plague' video. Is Limbo still a viable realm to use in 5th edition or do I have to make it in an older edition?
i learned lots. thanks for the great videos.
hoping for a Shaundakul video
Please.. You have to do a video about the "Seven Sisters" and others legendary characters of the FR.
ОтветитьFun series. Are you aware that Loviatar the Maiden of Pain is a real world diety of the Finns from the Kalevala?
ОтветитьFun fact: Although Liira detests violence, she maintains a sect of her faithful (the Scarlet Mummers) devoted to martial combat for the sake of kicking the asses of Loviatar's faithful.
ОтветитьI made an Loviatar's Chaotic Good paladin. He sees the pain as the force that push people to some better Future. The pain has no relationship with the evil, Just says to the people where os the evil.
ОтветитьI'm so happy that you made this, but I must know WHY DIDN"T YOU TALK ABOUT THE SCARLETT MUMMERS!? They are the super coolest aspect of Liira and also relate to the feud between her and Loviatar! <3 <3 <3
Ответитьi have a hexblade warlock of loviatar taking on the aspect of the willing whip as the sort of sentient weapon
ОтветитьSmall correction, but Loviatar’s exact opposite is actually Ilmater.
If you’re wondering how I know, I play a paladin of Ilmater. It’s actually a pretty fun character, the way I play him.
There was a pristess of loviatar who serve as nanny for some noble family.
She is very modest, smart and not sadistic.
it was easy to side with her since the noble family attitude she served was more unbearable than the whip.
i think she convert her young mistress into the church.
.. can't remember which forgotten realm novel.
So Loviatar is the goddess of SM ? How kinky are D&D writers 😂
ОтветитьI’m currently working on a Fallen Aasimar Conquest Paladin of Loviatar. His parents were priests of Ilmater and they took him on one of their charity trips. The group was ambushed by priests of Loviatar. The father chose to take on the torture of the mother and character. The priests used that to cause more pain to the father, by killing the mother in front of him. The priests offer the character life if he lives in service of Loviatar, he agrees. Father dies in his torture. Character Falls. The character is finished being raised by the priests of Loviatar. He finds it disturbing how easy it is to transfer his practices from Ilmater to Loviatar, because the priests undergo similar pain rituals, including self-flagellation. He has truly become a follower of Loviatar and his childhood feels like it belonged to someone else. He has now become the Holy Scourge of Loviatar.
ОтветитьI am playing a cleric of Lliira and she’s so much fun! I wish there had been a mention of the Scarlet Mummers in her section because they are bad ass, but I understand that you also need to keep videos short! ;)
Truly I love your lore videos very much and look forward to them each week!
Why was lliraa driven out during the times of trouble?
ОтветитьSweeeeet, I'm so happy to see a video about D&D pantheon, especially Loviatar, she's my favorite! Subscribed!
ОтветитьI played a cleric of LLiira once.... My mission, to spread happiness, merriment, and good time via booze. lots and lots of it. My first encounter I failed the check to hear our ship getting boarded and the start of the fighting. I only woke up when someone broke into the sleeping quarters. I lived but had to apologize many many times to LLiira after that. which got my character drunk again......
ОтветитьOne of the most fun characters I ever played was a Bard/Cleric of Leira. It was an amazing character.
P.S. Yes, the stat investment was a nightmare. Worth it.
Edit: Holy shit I didn’t expect Jorphdan to like the post. :D
So Loviatar is basically the Goddess of Sadomasochism.
ОтветитьJust started a campaign today as a cleric of Lliira and it's fun as all get out. Even got an elephant who was previously used in festivals as a mount
ОтветитьSounds like the Shadar-kai would like Loviatar a lot if they weren't committed to the Raven Queen.
ОтветитьI've played several clerics of Loviatar, and the propaganda against The Willing Whip is sad.
Fear of pain is a shackle, suffering a chain, but mastery of pain is the key to true freedom.
Pain is is a teacher, but it up to the student to learn.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice.
To fear pain is a sign of weakness.
Grumpy mean people...XD
ОтветитьI know this is kind of old but why skip Lloth?
ОтветитьPlaying a Paladin of Lliira
ОтветитьLliira is my BAE! I love her so fucking much! I've played a lot of joybringers over the years, gnomes, humans, dwarfs, good times!
ОтветитьI can see a temple to Loviatar being an underground sex dungeon where people go for... you know. It would be an interesting spin.
ОтветитьI’ve wanted to make a one-shot meme conquest Paladin of Lliira for a while now.
ОтветитьI want to do a Lliiran Paladin. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do?
ОтветитьPlaying a warforged monk with the path of mercy that worships lliira to spread happiness and soothing that he can never feel. I actively go to the sick in towns that I go to to heal or stop "suffering" if they are ready.
ОтветитьOathbreaker paladin here who recently took levels in warlock thanks to his patron Loviatar. Absolutely loving it. Broke his oath when he literally tortured prisoners to death to gain information. He was always more of a "whatever it takes" sort of guy. But went a bit too far that time for his god's comfort. One of his quotes from a session (Rise of Tiamat) Neutral/Evil in a party of Neutral/Good, they appreciate his ability to do things for information they can not:
"Pain is my oath. I serve the mistress of pain Loviatar. People think of pain as a feeling, or an emotion. But when you remove that, you realize it is merely a tool at your disposal. But as with all in life, it is a give a take. You take pain, and use it, to gain focus, motivation, drive. And then you take that pain, harness it, channel it, and then unleash it on to those you see fit.
And that is why it works. Plenty of men and women, even kings fear not death. As it is a means to an end. But pain... pain lingers, pain endures. Years, decades, an entire lifetime. Agonizing, torturing, draining their life and their will, to the point where they may not fear death, but it's cold embrace is a warming welcome.
When faced with that amount of pain, it manifests fear. And that level of fear can crumble empires. And it sure as hell can destroy a cult. This cult will know that fear."
I currently am playing a Tortle Life Cleric named Kappa who also follows Lliira and it's the best so far. I made friends with my party's cell guards (Long explanation) and inspired them to quit and make their own gang, one with a dental plan after I drank tea with them in the cell.
Ответитьtonal
S H I F T
Does anyone knows if they're related?
ОтветитьI think Lliira and Waukeen had/have a thing going on. Reading their story about how they traveled together in faerun when the gods were all kicked out, and Waukeen literally giving Lliira her divinity makes me think there was more behind the scenes between them. You don’t just give your divinity to any old friend for safekeeping, they must have been really close/intimate for the trust to be there. And since Lliira canonically had a relationship with the High Revelmistress of her own church we know she was into women.
ОтветитьNext week I’m about to play a tiefling cleric of Loviatar, wish me luck👍
ОтветитьMake video about none human gods
ОтветитьOld video, I know but….Are you a follower of Liira? Because your content spreads so much fun and joy! Please don’t ever stop, these DnD lore videos always bring me and others such happiness. Thank you so much for creating all of this for us.
ОтветитьI'm making a Dhampir (possibly unwilling) Conquest Paladin of Loviatar. Basically, right before she died/got turned into a Dhampir, her arm was cut off. As a Dhampir, she feels constant phantom limb pain, and the amount of pain is directly tied to her bloodthirst. (The pain becomes unbearable whenever she hasn't drank blood in a while.)
Due to the amount of pain she is in, and the amount she causes, this gets the attention of Loviatar. Perhaps Loviatar offers to help numb the pain in exchange for her services as a paladin? (Open to suggestions, most of backstory left out due to relevance and brevity.)
P.S. She will have a level in Undead Warlock, literally summoning her phantom limb for her Form of Dread.
So basically a goddess of bdsm.
ОтветитьStill want to play a Paladin that follows The Maiden of Pain that's like Drakness from Konosuba
ОтветитьI am currently playing a Cleric of Loviatar. He’s Chaotic Neutral as he only performs his pain on those willing, definitely not a common follower. He’s so fun to play
ОтветитьI ship Lliira and Waukeen!
ОтветитьSo pinkie pie as a cleric of Liira lol
ОтветитьHonestly the best summation of Loviatar I can think of would be from Al Swearengen in HBO's Deadwood. "Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f**** beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you've got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back."
ОтветитьI have a fallen variant Assimar who is a descended of Loviatar’s blood line
The reason they’re fallen is because they detest their origins (they are neutral good)
thus they have dedicated their service to Illmater in hopes to elevate or take on the pain of others who cannot
Loviatar personally decide to make them an ‘example’ and painfully removed one of their wings in the most extreme way possible.
I had fun with this character’s story
