How to Start a Gaming Channel in 2024

My content right now is my struggling to figure out how to play Star Citizen! Haha

Video essays were what I found to be the meta for me. I got hardly any views then I realized that I like to share my thoughts so I talked about why I like my favorite game and I got a few thousand views. Then I did it again with the sequel but I said why I thought it was a let down and it got close to 20k views. I couldn't get that number again, but I regularly make 1k views with this format.

I wish you had released this video 2 weeks ago… I have to go back to work after the Christmas holiday tomorrow 😂 but seriously thanks for this, this has given so many ideas for videos

I hated all the time the playlists because i have no option to stop autoplay. I want to be able to play myself the next video, especially when i watch them at night, when i go to sleep. But no... yt don't give this option because it feeds them more profit... Well not with me. I just go and play that one video and then just find the next one in the list. But it's annoying when you just want to sleep and then to go for next one. But i do it earlier putting the whole series in the history, then boom, i just go to history in another tab then play from there.

But this bs shows their greediness and just hunger for more bs even if it's not real.
This thing causes more fake views for lot of creators, because the watcher didn't really watch and enjoyed all of the videos in that playlist, so thus the poor quality of measuring the data from views. Eh...

aaaa, i forgot to mention that i need to get an extension for stopping the autoplay when opening a tab with a video tab. I couldn't find that option anywhere in yt settings so it might be my fault, but i think it's not, because if they hide it so good then what's the point of being efficient in life? Start to search in all the things you do daily special settings for simple things that should take you one second?

Havin more windows with lot of tabs of clips, because i research a lot and without that extension, suddenly some random tabs will think that you preview them (windows preview bs... also, another "scammer" ;-)))) ) and you start to hear so many voices, music and sounds that can be so confusing. Not knowing which one is playing (ikn in chrome is a sort of an identifier but not helpful with many windows) is annoying and also hard to find them and push stop...

Pfff... with all the updates they did, as many other big companies with new updates to their platform, in 90% of the cases they just break simple and good interaction and just "force" users to do only the way they want you to do. And watch the near future and you will be amazed at how intruding this will be. But, eh again. I will find my ways all the time and also will find new platforms to feed my information needs.

As i did with obsessed big newspapers that force you to disable... you know what and not for being just a cheap guy, just because in my all experience on the net, the pages that provides "3 words" and 100 ads, it's not useful. Also, making it so bloaty and ugly and hard to find your simple answer it made me to do that. I also do lot of the times, whitelist the genuine request from sites where i see quality and where they are not forcing me to do it. Just kindly ask me with a simple non intrusive message, which guess what, it's not in my first sight... it's somewhere around the page, but the designers chose a good color match, just to make you see it and read it. If a see a good content website doing that, i will instantly stop using that... extension on their website forever. They just deserve everything. I will even pay some subscription for their work as patreon or w/e, because they deserved it and not begged it or forced me.

That's my 5.93 cents and 1 buck vs 1,9354 eur vs 3.14159265359 yen (or not yen?) vs 1 water bottle (yeah, it's that expensive compared to wahtever numbers).

Would I have to put my voice in gameplay videos for people to watch my videos longer?

I understand that VidIQ is making video's for gaming channels because there are so many of them, however, gaming is most likely not where the profit is made. It is a saturated market and it is about a topic that is not notorious for people that spend a lot of money. Most gaming channels (not all) are managed by people that just want to play games. They don't see their channel as a profession but as a hobby. Often they are even still at school. There is of course nothing wrong with being at school and enjoying gaming but VidIQ has more the approach of a business.

Are there any monitor coures that could help you grow a gaming channel

I've been trying to grow my channel only playing valorant because it's the game I currently play the most but it's not my favorite, I'd love to publish more about other games I also enjoy. This, as you said, will make it unsustainable for the long term, so I'll try doing a bit of everything I like. Great video as always

Yeah, solely focus on one game doing me good but then the game died or have a competition. So yes, try to mix it up with other games so viewer will focus on you and not only the game you play. Video essay also give great succes for me, much better than gameplay. Well maybe because my gameplay not really interesting but in scripted essay I can put many things from my perspective which spark relatable content & viewer comment/reaction. I started a gaming channel just over a year ago, got monetized, unless you get 1000's of views per upload, pennies per day, much harder than I could have ever imagined.

Growing a gaming channel is definitely difficult but not impossible the success I've had has been crazy already
