How to Spot a FAKE DMCA Takedown or Copyright Infringement Notice

Is there a way to back trace images used (in the case of using a web developer) to make sure you are not infringing?

Hi Aiden. Long story short, we are an Australian registered company that operates on Shopify, and there's these random DMCA report from alleged fake names and identity which took our site down for a minimum of 14 days. What's funnier is that these sites downloaded OUR content with OUR watermarks on it to file for a report on us, ridiculous! Shopify don't even verify the authenticity of these DMCA reports and immediately closes our site. We are the original creator of the reported materials and could not accept this treatment from Shopify. Is there anything we can do to restore our site immediately? And how about to prevent similar random DMCA takedowns in the future?

Can one company threaten to sue and demand hundreds of dollars for an image use, if the image came from a press kit? The company making the claim has a client that has has images from the press kit on their site, but they admit they don't own the copyright. Yet they still send out copyright notices, even though the actual copyright holder allows the images to be used in their TOS, as long as it's coverage about their video game. How can one company sue a press outlet over a press kit they don't even own the copyright to?

Well, i am in Brazil, it pop up on google url a warning saying my Ip , estate, city was track. No email was sent to me and i don t know what i did wrong, nothing specific.

Awesome info, but let's say you did infringe by mistake but still infringed, the ofending article was taken down but the copyright infringement was done thru a website's form say amazon or etsy and you have no clue what they are asking?

What do I do when a Print on Demand site executes a takedown on one of my designs, but refuses to provide me with a copy of the claim? As of this writing, I've requested FOUR TIMES that they send me a copy of the claim levied against me, and they're refusing to do so. They keep handing me boiler plate replies about filing counter claims under penalty of perjury ... but nobody in their right mind would sign something under penalty of perjury, or even challenge a DMCA claim, without seeing the content of the claim. I've even filed a complaint with the BBB over the platform refusing to provide me with a copy of the claim. This takedown has been executed on all 3 variants (color swaps), and now I'm being subjected to loss of potential sales based on grounds of a "you're guilty because we say you are, and you can't see what we allege" claim.
