What should I explore next in my ongoing Day _ Died series?

Me watching this after Dexter New Blood 😭

To me the episode that killed Dexter is the one where he spared Hannah. That was the episode which solidified how little the new showrunners understood Dexter's character, and so fundamentally betrayed who Dexter was portrayed to be that it gave the writers carte blanche to make Dexter do whatever they wanted.

Law of diminishing returns, lost its way and somehow managed to twice ruin an incredible character

The day Dexter said was the finale of season 2. The way Doakes dies, being killed by Lyla instead of leaving any real choice for Dexter. Beyond pathetic.

The show was masterful from season 1 to 8, it never had a downfall.

Ti could not take Deb Jennifer carpenter, seriously. She looks like a child actor trying to act like a grown up. She often over acted her scenes, which didn't didn't help my take her seriously.

Honestly Season 6 of Dexter was when it died for me. I actually really liked New Blood though

I literally never watched another episode of Dexter once Rita was murdered. That episode seriously made me hate this show.

I watched dexter until the end of the season where that woman gets kidnapped and went through SA only for her to get intimate with Dexter. Hated that scene so much it turned me off to the rest of the show

I deeply identified with Dexter and because of that I loved the show and the internal monologue and psychology were the key factors for me, the finale killed me inside honestly.

The new ending was even worse >.> There was such a more poetic ending that they rushed and went, eh, this'll do.

I always thought a great ending would have been Dexter finally getting caught, red-handed, as he killed a target, one as or more significant than Trinity. When we all think it's over for him, or he is even shot and we think he's dead. The final scene would be one of a young FBI investigator, getting cleared to consult with someone. It would mirror Silence Of The Lambs, and the killer to be interviewed would be Dexter, who is in a similar specialty prison, with the bullet proof glass wall. Everything in his cell nice and orderly. Him looking friendly, waiting for the young agent. He would say "Hello" with with a devilish expression.

I know what episode killed the show for me and it was the end of season 4 when his girlfriend died.
I needed that contrast of his gf who eas so innocent and really believed in him. It gave it irony. IDK he lost his ground whe she died.

Season 8 was pretty disappointing,any fan of the show I spoke with feels the same. I couldn't get through the reboot, I think I watched three or four episodes. In hindsight they could've ended the show after season 7 in a high note leaving us wanting more.

New Blood was great

For me, the show died with the introduction of the Hannah McKay character. Dexter's interactions with her felt truly out of character. I couldn’t stand any of it. I felt so happy when he was about to end her, and then they doinked... It felt like fan-fiction.

I liked the whole series. Can’t say that about a lot of shows.

Since the first season was based on the book and the rest weren't, even in season two I found myself saying to myself "Dexter wouldnt say that in that situation" or "Batista would clearly feel remorse for coaxing that latina into testifying against Little Chino after seeing that she immediately gets slaughtered but acts like shes a stranger murdered"

Some shows just go on for too long because the parent company wants to keep milking the success for profit. They probably could have wrapped up the story in much fewer seasons in a much more satisfying way.

If dexter sailed into the storm and the credits rolled where we pick our own ending I'd be happy. The upcoming season was unwatchable how dumb it was.

All I have to say is that they did Deb dirty in the end. She did everything she could to stay of Dexter's side, and loved him unconditionally. She shouldn't have gotten the ending she did.

Correction the original HAD one of the worst endings in television history until Dexter New Blood... Wish I had left it with the original, they somehow made a worse ending!!

Barley binged all the seasons this year even though I started season one years ago but for some reason stopped. For me I never wanted him to get caught

Why do showrunners keep runing away from their own shows? Anyway, Dexter losing his edge is to be expected at some point. It happens in real life that people buckle under pressure and in order to advance the plot characters have to change.

Laguerta and the lass from "new blood", suffer from the same problem, an inept cop for decades, suddenly solves the biggest mystery of the show(s)

Season 5 should of ended the series

The fact that they ignored LaGuerta's death was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Normal procedure would have revealed Deb and Dexter at the scene of LaGuerta's death through GPS technology. For chrissake, Deb was in a police car if I remember correctly. I was looking forward to how Dexter and Deb would get out of this. Instead, they just swept everything under the rug the following season. Pathetic. The same thing happened in the series, "Bloodline".

I was with season 7 through the issak sirko arc, but then again, maybe it was just that his actor was so freaking awesome

The first season of this show is close to perfection as one can get, I've rewatched just the first season so many times.

The Getaway really was the final strike of greatness for this series, I got spoiled on Rita's death and it still surprised me. Most of the writers leaving killed the show

After the New Blood ending the Season 8 ending doesn't seem so bad anymore by comparison.

I’m watching this in 2023 and TV is even worse now than it was 2 years ago or 10 years ago. The new Dexter was not great and as mad as I was at the way the first series ended its head and shoulders above what’s being made today
