Honestly I think my favorite Paladin Multiclass might have to be Paladin/War Domain Cleric. It’s like playing a Paladin that’s 50% extra divine justice

Would multi-classing into warlock sorcerer and paladin be viable? Example 5 Paladin 3 Sorcerer 4 warlock?

I switch classes like every encounter. It’s really hard for me to role-play in this game. I really like temporarily multi classing people into cleric or wizards are even one point in storm sorcery just to fly after using magic just to cost some trouble

There is a build that I am using lately that has the best sustained damage per round and that is DW Paladin 2 / Bard 6 / Thief 4. You get 4 smites per round.

Can you get the third attack with Warlock multi class still as long as you’re not in honor mode or is it patched?

Not sure if I missed this, but when is the best time to start multiclassing? Do I get 6/7 levels of paladin first and then move to bard/sorcerer/warlock or what's the best strategy here?

The Reckless Crit-Smite:
Starterclass: Barbarian
16STR, 14DEX, 16CON
- LV1: Rage
- LV2: Reckless Attack
- LV3: Pick your favorit Subclass
- LV4: GreatWeaponMaster Feat.
- LV5: Extra Attack
Fighter:
- LV6 (F1): GreatWeaponFighting

LV7-Respec: 2-Bar & 5-Pal
16STR, 10DEX, 16CON, 15CHA
Starterclass: Barbarian (CON Saving Thows)
- LV1: Rage
- LV2: Reckless Attack
Paladin
- LV3 (P1): Oath
- LV4 (P2): Fight Syle, Divine Smite
- LV5 (P3): Spellcasting
- LV6 (P4): GreatWeaponMaster Feat.
- LV7 (P5): Extra-Attack
Continue with Fighter
- LV8 (F1): Defensive Fight Style (+1RK)
- LV9 (F2): Action Search
- LV10 (F3): Champion (more Crits)
- LV11 (F4): Resilient (+1CHA)
Paladin
- LV12 (P6): Aura of Saving Thows (+3)
Try to Avoid most Concentration Spells, because Rage breaks concentration and use your spellslots only on Crit-Smites. If you use Ethals Hair (+1Cha), take +2STR on your last Feat instead. Use Medium armor and get the 18DEX-Gloves from the Gith in the creche.

If we ignore Baldur's Gate rules, Paladin + Cleric will be the most linear combination. In some games, Cleric is even designed as lower level version of Paladin. But because Baldur's Gate or DnD in general use 3 different mental type as spellcasting atttibute while Cleric and Paladin have different spellcasting attribute, combining them both needs more and more consideration and strategy. One of strategies that I can think of is the use of elixir of hill/cloud giant strength.

I've always loved my bardadin of ancient lore. I get shield master feat helping my Dex saves, and using my expertise in athletics to trip everything to give my party advantage. It's just a really good combo that adds tons of utility and battlefield control while keeping the skills and durability in combat.

Listening to this it gives me an idea. Instead of 5 warlock go 3 warlock and 2 tempest clr. This will add max crit thunder smites but loose a feat. An I'm only suggesting this for honour mode since the pact extra atk doesn't work.

A build I can recommend with a Paladin is a 5/2/5 Multiclass. It's not as powerful in Honor mode, but it's a crit fishing damage stacker.

Githyanki(this is important for Gith Weapons, which gives you +1d4 or +1d6 psychic with your weapon.
2 levels in Paladin( you can start as warlock, but it's very useful to multiclass out of the paladin for that heavy armor proficiency)
5 Levels of Warlock, great old one with a pact of the blade subclass.
5 Fighter, Champion for that 5% crit chance enhancement.

Stack everything that gives your damage an additional damage die.
With crit equipment you can crit on a 16 which can give you up to 10d6+charisma even before your smite. 8d8 for a level 3 smite.

Your equipment has 3 keystone items, risky ring, Reaper's embrace and the speedy lightfeet. Everything else is just to contribute to your damage like the ring of regeneration and broodmother's revenge combo. With the helldusk gloves you have 2d6 slashing, 1d6 psychic, 1d6 fire and 1d6 poison. And when you only smite on crit with great weapon fighting style and savage attacker you can get frankly unreasonable amounts of damage out of one attack. Of course with only 4 spell slots your number of smites is somewhat limited but it's a quality over quantity approach with that one.

I really enjoy Oathbreaker/Blade Lock, I only go 3 into Lock for a bit of ranged capability and Devil Sight. Dropping Darkness and watching the dude go nuts on enemies that can't even see him is great, especially as enemy ranged units have to brave the darkness to go after him.

I always preferred something more simple after running a hexblade paladin in regular dnd. Warlock Paladins and sorcerer paladins sound really cool on paper but they usually end up being extremely "bloated" in the sense that they end up having so much shit that they can do that you'll either never use a lot of their capabilities or you'll only rarely use some features of the multiclass. In short, you end up with TOO many options which isnt always a good thing.

Paladin is extremely easy to multiclass into but really hard to multiclass out of because it's such a strong class.

Personally I prefer going eldritch knight fighter for 5 levels, taking 2 levels into Paladin for smite, then finishing the next 5 levels as a fighter when it comes to bg3.

That way you get access to more than enough spells and you're essentially playing as a paladin that can smite multiple times in a turn if you take Great weapon master.

I did a 5 warlock (pact of the blade) and 7 Vengeance Paladin. Took a great weapon master feat, so as long as you get one kill or crit, you can make 4 attacks per turn, not including smites. Throw on a bloodlust elixir and that’s 7 attacks per turn with a crit/kill. The bound hammer that Dammon sells in act 2 is amazing for that and I still use it in act 3. Add the drake glaive buff to it, and your weapon is just insane.

Worth mentioning that if you go Oathbreaker you cant respec without first retaking your oath. (which costs 1k gold) and then breaking it again. Its a lot of faff and expense just to shuffle a few attributes around that no other class has to deal with.

I've been enjoying a build i call the War Pally.
5 Fighter - riposte,precision,surge,fighting style
2 Pally - just for divine smite - afaik charisma does not scale or increase divine smite damage, or give enough spell slots.
5 War cleric - War priest tokens are awesome for extra attacks, and you'll get additional spell slots and buffs/summon. Spiritual guardian's too.

So essentially 2 attacks normally, war priest tokens to fuel more attacks, surge, and fighter die utility.
Something like 17 str / 16 con /14 dex as the focus.
