Is the A5 the same as an A4 as far the interior space or is the A5 slightly bigger? I always felt squeezed in the driver's position in the A4. Never tried an A5 before

I have an Audi Q7 had for years . I plan on getting an additional car. I love the A5 I just hate that most are not v6 s.

I have an A5 Sportback and love it. I like the sophistication of the A7 BUT the extra size would take the edge of it for me. Parking spaces are so small now (or cars are so big) so whilst aids help you park, you can't open the door because the other cars are so close 😞

The unintegrated A5 screen is very ugly imo

I have a 2016 A7 and I love it. I prefer this model year to the newer ones. It just looks more distinctive to me and I like the older stye controls. Once you have an A7, you won't want anything else.

Thanks Thomas, I love the integrated infotainment system in the A7, which adds to the sophistication. I hope the next refresh of the A5 includes this, hopefully 2024.

I'm over loaded with info- the Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, 8.... PREMIUM, SPORT, Quattro, prestige - OMFG!!! I'M GOING INSANE trying to figure out which is the "best" beast of a model for me.
It will be driven at proper highway speeds with a small dose of cutting loose on occasion. I LIKE/WANT TO HAVE THE POWER THERE WHEN I NEED IT. (otherwise I would just go buy a Chevy Cruze or grandma's Cadillac and worry about letting my hair down & enjoying the ride...

ANYONE HAVE ANY WORDS OF WISDOM TO MAKE MY DECISION A LIL EASIER LOL

I completely agree, these are two beautiful sportbacks, wonderful comparison. I do find the A5 (and S5) to be a little sexier, and the physical controls in the A5 line tip that car in my favor.
I just re-watched this comparison review, several months later, I love your enthusiasm for both of these cars, it is contagious - and a wonderful review. But this review is in stark contrast to your reaction to the 2020 Audi A6 Allroad (your review from 2 years ago). As you say, an estate car is not your preference, but you did not seemed to be impressed by any aspect of that A6 Allroad other then it being quiet and relaxing.
So, I would like to propose a comparison with the latest Audi Allroad vs the Mercedes wagon (or BMW); since your 2018 comparison review. These wagons are not that common in North America, so a comparison would be appreciated by many people (I suspect), especially me. Thanks in advance, I appreciate all the good work you and your team do for us.

The touchscreen HVAC controls on the A7 are a no go for me.

Hi, great reviews, very gründlich, one remark on an expression Thomas always uses: it is interesting to see or, comparing the two cars is interesting. I am sorry, it gets on my nerves ;) you mean remarkable every time you say interesting. So you say, it's interesting to see how fast the car goes from 0 to 60. No, its remarkable. Why should it be interesting? You do it all the time. You are a good, relaxed and funny journalist. That's interesting, oops: remarkable. Keep on the good work.

A5 way too small for me (I'm 189cm). A7 looks great on the outside but very cold look with so much piano black and metal trims. Lack of physical controls is very annoying, similarly lack of roof mounts - roof rails would not be a good fit for this car but lack of pins is very annoying for people who can't afford multiple cars to choose from depending on type of activity you have in plan for the day. To complete the list of annoying things is the laggy gear box but that's the problem of all new Audi models. Unless you drive to a church on Sunday, it is supper annoying. It's one of Audi's biggest flaw these days - a show stopper for me.

Great video. It's a tough choice because both vehicles are great.

I have to say, sorry but I find the BMW 4 Gran Coupe far more better-looking and more purposeful with it's Upright, aggressive grille. The Audi's have always just held the same old boring design for me with no effort to push that amazing ''A9 Prologue'' concept We were shown well over 5 years ago now.
They also sound like passing gas next to the strong and raspy V6's of BMW's & Mercedes. I really hate Audi's 'exhaust note'.

Audi A5 is much nicer than Audi A7. There is non paragon! A5 is original,A7 isn't. To judge the two cars you have to look at them and choice. A5 is the best! The more beautiful! A7 is ugly and nasry !

Audi A5 was designed by great disigner Walter da Silva, A7 was designed by nobody. There is no comparison

A7 is my choice, sweet drive, although we don't have it here in Nigeria, but Audi car is my favourite car in the world.

The A4 I like more than an A6, especially the look. The A7 I would clearly see ahead compared to the A5.
