I would think that a major benefit of dividend investing is that calculating portfolio size needed is not relevant. We don't care about the value of the portfolio. We care about the sustainable income it pays. As you invest you can gradually see the income rise as you invest more and pull the retirement trigger when it's high enough regardless of the market sentiment.

The Market have been suffering over the past month, with all the three indexes recording losses in recent weeks. My $400,000 portfolio is down by approximately 20%, any recommendations to scale up my returns before retirement will be highly appreciated.

I like ConAgra but I'd substitute it out for General Mills. While ConAgra currently has a better P/E and Dividend. Their stock prices does have much room to grow past 10-20%. Compared to General Mills, which has plenty of room to grow. Both are great to own and buy, btw.

D has been on my watch list for a while, might be time to add it, especially since I'm short on utilities. CAG is possibility, too. Both have qualified dividends, which I'm focusing on now as most of my savings is in tax accounts and I'm keeping my tax burden (currently $0) to a minimum while I convert my IRA to a Roth. I've been dca and selling covered calls (puts, too) on MPW for over a year. Have IBM, a few ALB (no way I can do options with it, $$$$).
