You love horror movies? and interested in feminism? ... ok. Try "The Woman" 2011. Interested to see what you think about that one.

Politics aside, I mostly saw this movie about existentialism and what it means to find yourself in this ever-living world. which in itself is very intriguing

Its bizarre you thought the moms speech was about feminism lol. It was literally only about being women.

Im sorry you have to lie and say no one in the theatre laughed in the movie. Its bizarre and pointless

I wouldn't recommend any movie to you, you seem extremely unhappy with your life.
Snow White saves herself? Said by someone who thinks no one ever watched tv series called Once Upon a Time.

Honestly I think the movie Legally Blonde portrayed a much more accurate Barbie (the ever sweet, classy and iconic Elle Woods) instead of Barbie (2023).

I’m a man & watched this last night with my wife. Less than halfway in I realised all the men were stupid or misogynistic or both. It felt like a lazy attack on men. I also felt really bad for Ken, like he just wanted to be loved but it’s not that kind of movie so, sorry Ken, sucks to be you. I should also add my wife felt the same way. She enjoyed the pink & nostalgia & funny one- liners but thought the movie as a whole was really bad.

Barbie definitely isn’t anti men. They realise that Barbie Land in the beginning of the movie wasn’t perfect either.

Damn! You make a really Solid Point. If all the Ken's are dum and stupid, then why would the smart Barbies pay him any attention. Ignoring the Kens is basically all the Barbies do in this movie. The Ken's are basically trained monkeys in Barbieland. This might be wrong, but is it just me or do the Barbies seem happier in "Kendom".

When the mom went on that rant it kind of made me upset as a son who only had a mother because my mom always knew that I struggled as much as she did. Our modern world isn’t based on which gender is better anymore it’s based on who earns more money. Trust me a millionaire women is less of a friend than a man who lives in a gated community downtown.

There were some moments that I absolutely loved, the one where Barbie starts to feel more human emotions as she is sitting on the bench, looking at the old woman and thinking that she was beautiful, that the real world is not as perfect as Barbie thinks but still worth living in, she laughs when others do, sees leaves rustling in the wind, people having arguments, others loving each other's company and Barbie wants that, she doesn't want to be perfect and an idea, she wants the chaotic messiness and the beauty of our world which I thought was incredible, I actually broke down then and there, I know the way they portrayed men and treated the Ken's was unfair and ridiculous but there were also moments like these in the movie where it was not about feminism or gender equality but about being simply human and I loved this scene so much, it honestly shook me to my core💖

It was made to destroy the west. They’re making men subservient & women to destroy all their self moral. It’s a genius strategy by the elites to neuter us like can while simultaneously milking us for all financial gain so we can never rise up against them. It’s a class war & no one knows it yet

How did we get from movies like Legally Blonde and Sarah Connor etc where femininity is their power and they break stereotypes to this crap where the central argument is which stereotypes are better?
That’s a lot of backwards steps lol.

Young boys can now say "I am Kenough".
Instead of living for the girl who ain't going to call back.
I love how these negative reviews all ignore the anti corporate messaging, Ignore the fact that barbie regected the matriarchal fantasy in favor reality, the fact that Ken was not the villian and the pro motherhood messaging.
It's almost as if theses people have a pro corporate agenda

The film is just one massive talking point. Gloria's (America Ferrara) rant was so awkward as it brought the movie to a standstill solely for the purpose of trying to drive an agenda with a sledgehammer. I cannot believe anyone who worked on this film really thought they were doing anything worthwhile.

I saw this with my 4 sisters and had to drown out the obnoxiously stupid politics of it. It had fun and endearing moments, but how in the year of 2023 where women are doing better than men financially and in education are people still eating up this crap that says women have it so much worse. Women honestly had it better than men even before 1st Wave feminism, but thats a conversation for a decade from now 🐸☕️

The Barbieworld being a matriarchy while the Kens just kinda exist actually makes sense because most of the time kids who play with Barbies don't even care about Ken at all lol.

The movie still sucked shit tho.

Okay, I actually loved Barbie (all of the parts that weren't preachy feminism) and was laughing through most of it. It's very camp, very silly, and super colorful and shiny which was really awesome to see. That being said, the message was all over the place. We, the audience, are TOLD that women have no power and have it hard in life, while we're being SHOWN that Barbieland is a matriarchy where women have all the power. We're TOLD to think Ken is wrong for bringing "patriarchy" (cringe) to Barbieland, but we're SHOWN that Ken feels unhappy, unseen, and not respected in "perfect" Barbieland and doesn't feel valued until he has a taste of patriarchy. We, the audience, SEE that Ken is the underdog (which is why HE is the fan favorite character, not Barbie) while the movie tries to TELL us that he's in the wrong. It feels super disjointed because the movie is basically trying to gaslight you into thinking Ken is being awful when every piece of storytelling in the film is showing you that he's right. ShoeOnHead did a super interesting review on the movie that shows what I mean. Barbie is a Rorschach Test. You see whatever message you're looking for.

You asked for a movie recommendation; Women Talking. It might enlighten your point of view. I haven't watched the movie, I'm against the movie too but according to what you are saying the movie hit the spot. You might be too young to see it, experience it or understand it but this is in fact our world, a world where women and children are suffering discrimination, violence and patriarchy day in and day out. You live your privileged life, while in many countries girls as young as 6 are still forced to marry men 6 times their age. Raped, forced fed, unable to receive medical care, are being dismissed at the ER and sent home with "anxiety" when they are having a heart attack. Single mothers are unable to save their children, women's safety is being robbed in the women's washroom, job promotion, girls still being put to dance class while the boys are sent to STEM, our most famous women singers go on stage half naked and dance as they are in a strip club while men singer are always fully dressed but their female dancers or female on the video clips are half naked and the list goes on. This is the situation right now, where is the movie going wrong? The movie reinforced the sad reality that for a woman in order to be super successful, of just successful you have to be a Barbie first, pretty, fit, dress well and always smile, never talk badly, never have bad days, always support the men and smile again. There isn't any scenario where a woman can look "ordinary" and be successful.

I think you misunderstood Barbie. Barbie movie is about being enough as you are. Barbie tells Ken to find out who Ken is. At the end Barbie chooses motherhood. The whole ending montage and her gynecologist appointment is about potential motherhood experience she desires. The mother daughter dou is inspiring to Barbie. Ruth Handler shows her feeding the baby and Barbie wants that experience. Barbie and Ken weee inspired by Ruth’s children: Barbara and Keneth
