I find it interesting that Denzel says he and his wife has been taking their children to different cities to learn something about the cities for 19 years now and all the place he mentioned are in Europe. This goes to show just much the norm is eurocentic and I think this is what people are fighting about in America. Why is that european asthetics is the predominate norm in the country build by inmalgelm of different cultures? Somehow we associate high class with eurocentrism to the point where minority are shedding off their own culture to assimulate into something else. This is what we all need to fight for to blance the system. Today about 99% of black women straingten their hair. In fact it has become such a norm that many black women are ablivious to it and it resulted form years of creating a system that don't incorporate their natural look as part of the beauty norms. If our man Denzel, a man who takes pride in who he is, is doing that without being aware , then that tells me that we knee deep in this mess and we need to do our part to make sure that the system we are building incoporate every cultural norm equally as part of the standard norms because it's only fair that a country built by different cultures also has norm that is mixture of diffent cultural norms and not just europe.
