Those two types of org have each advantage and disadvantage, it must apply by different type of company, centralization is suitable for manufactury or facility, but decentraliazation is suitable for inovation or creation company, such as IT industrial.

Decentralization to centralization, this conversion, requires influence and/or power - the right partnerships. Gaining buy-in results from qualifying reasons for change, effectively, with key stakeholders. Understanding the orientation of organizational process, people, technology, etc is core. And the feasibility of change is measured by the organization's resources, strategy, capacity and more. Moreover, Knowing "when" to initiative change is most critical to any projected success. Has any business ever moved from centralization to decentralization for bigger advantage?

Centralization is common to high school students who do business studies. It’s interesting to know about decentralization too since I for instance see it to be an effective way of managing a business. It also has its demerits though.

I work for an organization that is transitioning from centralization to descentralization and I have seen a lot of abuse from managers with more power and authority. I would like to hear how to avoid this.

Both are efficient depending on
the kind of organisation. I've experienced working on both systems and from what I've learned so far, decentralised is a bit greater than a Centralised system.
I can remember when I was working in a centralised organisation we have issues with both production and sales. We weren't making good sales on daily basis and we were so devastated wanting to make a difference by doing what we believe will help but we couldn't and even couldn't communicate that to the top. It was an issue that took us time to solve.
Compare to decentralised, since departments can make certain decisions solving problems is not that much of a big challenge and is also solved on time.

I prefer the decentralized style of business / organization / governance. It is a bit more like working in a cooperative and I really like that factor. As a liberal person, I don't very much respect the centralized form because there are too many egos and hoops to overcome in order to get communication and essential feedback functioning in real time. I think that the future is in the framework of decentralization because when it comes to crises, mutual aid, and on-the-fly emergency problem-solving, it requires action, rather than the seeking of permission and getting tangled in the "red tape" of the hierarchical, central authority model. Those are my two cents!

Trade allows for complex systems to occur decentralized. The only reason businesses are centralized is because there is no trade within the company.
