Ive got so many ipods, I should consider selling them. btw what are some good places to rebuild my ipods/ you said there were a ton of them
ОтветитьAwesome!
ОтветитьWHat ipod software for PC that isn't itunes as itunes wont let me add my own music i own on cd, unless i buy it from the itunes store...
ОтветитьI have 2 one 80gb and new one 128gb love both, they are so sturdy and reliable, whenever the SHTF. People will wish they had one
ОтветитьAnyone know of quality click wheel replacements? I've tried a few and the capacitive touch is trash making games unplayable and scrolling difficult having bad sensitivity, i always have to end up putting the factory one back in.
ОтветитьSo you’re only keeping the motherboard? Why not just buy that too?
ОтветитьIt should be said that there is an upper limit to how much storage the iPod will accept. Dank Pods has extensively explored this.
ОтветитьI had mine made with the 3000mah battery and 128gb storage, White faceplate, blue back plate, blue click wheel with a white middle button and it’s great, only thing with the one I have, I noticed when I put headphones in they can easily be pulled out, They’re not super snug when plugged in but it’s not too bad and everything works good, I bought mine already put together by elite obsolete electronics and it’s been working pretty good
ОтветитьI was hoping you'd just gut it and put a raspberry pi zero in there so it could do something cool. lol
Ответитьman if u went with a blue scroll wheel this thing would have been mint. nice video either way.
ОтветитьA little bit of heat-- nothing crazy, just like from a hair dryer-- makes the adhesive a lot easier to remove without stressing the ribbon cables. Hope this helps someone.
ОтветитьCool but as a non iTunes user looks pretty useless to me..
ОтветитьI want to do this to my ipod. ❤️ Gives it a new life
ОтветитьUseful. But way above my head. I wish I was able to do things like this!
Ответитьyou can fit the 5000mah battery in the thin 30gb back. i filed my internal frame just a little bit and used the micro sd card board for 512gb and a 5000mah battery which lasts me on and off for over a month.
ОтветитьYou’ve got a small music selection; my 12k song library is 160 gb, although I’m not sure an iPod could handle a 320khz ALAC.
Ответитьthanks for this Colin! i didn’t know about the store, so handy to get other iPods i didn’t get before, or parts for those i have.
i got a second hand U2 version of the early era iPods which i updated to use an SD card some time ago and it’s great how much lighter the iPod is and how much longer the battery lasts :)
I installed iflash about 12 years ago my iPod Classic 7th Gen is 128 gig and very quick.
ОтветитьCan I get a rebuilt Zune?!?!?
ОтветитьThis is perfect! Any idea where to start so that I can build/modify one just like this?
ОтветитьIf only they could change it over to USB-c over that 30-pin port.
ОтветитьHa I remember getting an iPod Video Black . 2005-2006 time. I was thinking it was 40 GB, but maybe not.
ОтветитьHow did you load your music? I wanna go back to using those, I still have some bose docks that accept the connectors.
ОтветитьAre you going to sell it???
ОтветитьAnd dave made a custom iPod with a string, a squirrel.... and an iPod
Ответить😎
ОтветитьAs someone who has opened 5 and 6 gen ipod classics, 6 gen is really really difficult to open up, ive even cut myself on accident by opening those, but 5th gens are so easy I opened one with my finger nails and Bic Pen!
ОтветитьRan with hybrid 3.5 rom, dark background, different menu system and bunch tweaks. Funny to see ppls still going bck to mod this. Ops it's hybrid 3.5 firmware, they didn't have roms. Not hard to mod. Have fun everyone
ОтветитьI still have the 160gb
ОтветитьI wonder if there's a way to get a brand new old stock harddrive for these. While flash storage is obviously better, there is something really nostalgic about feeling the ipod vibrate as the drive spins up when you select something to listen to.
ОтветитьFlac is king
ОтветитьHow do i know what gen I have? I have one that came with a 240GB drive
Ответитьmy father in law just found my wife's gen 5 30 gb and I'm definitely testing this out.
ОтветитьThis was great! You are great about explaining step by step.
ОтветитьI have a 30 and 60gb version in perfect condition. However, they're collecting dust as I use my s10 plus for everything.
ОтветитьThe Dankpod channel has covered all this in detail. You can buy replacement parts for everything.
ОтветитьYou sound like Stuart from Big Bang Theory. :D
ОтветитьI did a 256GB one with a clear face and a 3d printed clear glow in the dark back and the larger LG battery and love it. I also Rockbox'ed it so I do not need itunes. Was a pretty fun project.
ОтветитьI ruined my hold switch. Does it have to be turned to lock?
ОтветитьYou could also replace the OS on it with Rockbox. That not only would get around the database size issue but also give you much more functionality.
ОтветитьJust stumbled across this channel and wanted to say thanx for posting. I was working on my 5th gen iPod (batt replacment #10 ?) I have had since new. I did the CF swap out many, many years ago and am just finding out allot has changed over the last 15+ years. Because of your vid, I just scored a 5th gen 80gb off of Fleabay. I will do the Micro SD upgrade o that one. The 5th gen is the best IMO, because of the Wolfson DAC. I dont know about you, but I also put RockBox on mine....again, many years ago. Audiophile quality dock connectors (pure Silver wire) going to high end (Ray Samuals and others) headphone amps and some kick ass cans, make a pretty damn good portable audio system. RockBox of course allows volume control (and other tweeks) through the dock connnector, thus bypasing the built in headphone amp section of the player. Love your vids....Mini Disc, yep...been there done that. Ripping DVD's to play on the iPod while on a plane flight, Ohh yea.
ОтветитьDankpods special
Ответитьhow many hours does your battery last with the 2000 maH?
ОтветитьAdding Bluetooth module woulda been cool too.
ОтветитьNice video, I have basically the same iPod. Will be doing a similar upgrade soon.
ОтветитьSuper cool, I have to iPod Video 5th gens I need to do this to.
