Great video. Good that you covered the magnetic field. Only problem with any other plan is that solarwinds would blow everything away again without a magnetosphere. We would need to constantly emit more co2 than is blown away.

Before we think of terraform Mars or Venus we should prevent earth from veneraform!

Might as well just build a planet from ground up. Why not? Just as feasible as terraforming.

We all know and share the dream of terraforming Mars so the Martian Republic may one day stand proud and, hopefully, invest more in terraforming than in stealth technology this time.

We need to be able to do a couple big things to properly terraform mars. We need to be able to get to Cere's. Then, safely move it to a matching orbit as our moon has in relation to earth. Then CRASH it's two moons down on Mars hard, Let the new moon stir up the core getting a field going. Also drawing the lighter molecules out of the ground like water. Then wait a while. introducing life from earth as its viable. Most important will be getting some kind of vegetation going.

It's likely that Mars will never be terraformed. What could happen is that humans live on Mars with only some supplements necessary from earth. In terms of emergency supply that is.

In circular life and agriculture the total circulating organic dry mass is about 10kg / adult human. Ist is no big deal to bring this mass to mars into the vegetation cycle.

Without a magnetic field, the radiation and the continuous loss of atmosphere makes it all kind of pointless. It's like making, transporting, and arranging new deck chairs on the Titanic.

We should be focused on terraforming planets, earth will eventually get overpopulated and we will destroy our selves. If it's not a possibility, then climate change isn't real.

First human beings likely to step foot on another planet are...chinese, because they can afford to sacrifice a few thousands of lives for the glory of the country, which americans will never tolerate. Ant it wont happen this century, because the 3 years forth and back voyage with current propulsion speeds leads to zero chance of survival.

Just think... if Venus had been in Mars's orbit and vice versa, Venus would probably not have had the runaway greenhouse effect and would be a verdant world covered in life.
In an alternate reality we have all watched, amazed, as David Attenborough narrates probe/drone footage of the wildlife on Venus!

ALLAH TELLS US HOW TO MAKE A DEAD PLANET LIKE MARS ALIVE AGAIN!

'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reason.' (Qur'an 2:164)

First, you need to have a dead planet orbiting a star, in the Goldilocks zone. Then you need to put a rotating magnetic core inside the planet, to make it spin, and create day and night. Then you need to give it an atmosphere by adding gases including water vapor. Heat up/Cool down the planet, to create rain. Then add humans, animals and plants. Lastly, cause the planet to tilt, by adding an artificial moon, to cause moving clouds and seasons for life to flourish. Hey Presto! We have a planet that is alive and Earth-like!

Sorry, but no, we don’t “know” that Mars is dead. We actually have some evidence, going all the way back to Viking, that there might be microbial life of some kind there, even today. We won’t really know for sure until we get enough samples back to Earth (or studied in person once we get people there) to either actually find life (even once would likely be enough, if we can determine that it definitely didn’t originate on Earth) or to find enough lack of life in enough of a variety of places that we can say we are reasonably certain that we won’t find any in the future. We most certainly haven’t hit that latter point yet, and won’t for many, many years.

Aside from that up-front oversimplification, this is an excellent video! I’ve also read of wrapping the equator of Mars in electrical cables and running power through them. I forget how much power they thought it would take to create a sufficient magnetic field around the planet, but it didn’t sound entirely infeasible — just another megaproject, right?! 😅

Terraforming Mars??? You must be kidding. There are 2 major problems with that.

1- Magnetic field. Mars has an almost a non-existent magnetic field, which cause Mars's atmosphere to be blown away into space by the solar wind (And no, magnets won't work, you have to be stupid to think that magnets will create a magnetic field around the planet.).
2- Mars atmosphere is 0.006% as dense as the one here one Earth. How do you increase atmosphere density? Even if Mars atmosphere was 20ish% oxygen, no one would be able to breathe, it would exactly be like breathing at an altitude of 100000 feet. No one can breathe there, the atmosphere is too "thin" to allow breathing. With such an atmosphere density, you won't be able to keep water in a liquid state, it would just simply evaporates (boiling point of water on Mars is a round -5 Celcius or 23 Farenheit).

This is just a wild dream. We have no technological means to create a planetary magnetic field and no way of increasing atmosphere density. And for any dream, you have to be asleep in order to "live" it. (like the american dream)

I look at what human arrogance does every time we try and tame the environment here and I laugh at the thought that we actually think we can make things better on mars instead of completely buggering it up there as well. We're way better off trying to figure out how to build structures and clothing to survive there than trying to terraform it.

Venus would require a total FANTASY ISLAND approach to be colonized. It is in a constant HOT HOUSE state. With a Very Thick Atmosphere that has Rain Clouds that release ACID RAIN water!!! With Weird Electrical Storms! The surface level atmospheric pressure is immense. The gas is totally TOXIC to life as we know it. The surface is barren and the Temperatures are Super HOT too. The U.S.S.R. sent probes that landed on Venus and sent back Photos and Sound recordings. They have been released and are Fascinating to see and hear. The Probes only lasted for a few hours before the Pressure and Heat destroyed them. A DEAD as a door nail Planet.

Yes, at one time, about 3.5 Billion years ago. Mars was a Rocky Water planet with an Atmosphere just like Earth that was within the Goldielocks orbital range. It would have been interesting to have seen what life would have evolved had it remained so. But it's now a Cold, Dry and Dead world with barely an atmosphere. NO life can exists because of the massive Radiation Bombardment on Mars. No liquid water because it's too COLD. The answer to its Death is probably staring at us. There is a massive asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Probably the remains of a Planet that was destroyed by either internal volcanic action or a meteor/comet strike. It's destruction caused Mars Orbit to move out of the Goldielocks range. As it cooled, so did its core. And once that happened, that brought an END to its Atmosphere. By the way, Elon Musk is a MORON. Mars can NEVER be colonized for these reasons. It might as well be Venus, Mercury or a Gas Giant Planet. A totally DEAD world for life to exists.

The elephant in the room isn't oxygen or carbon, it's nitrogen? A breathable atmosphere needs 80% Nitrogen to prevent oxidation, and plants also need Nitrogen and nitrates to be nutritious? Cyanobacteria work with photosynthesis, chlorophyll, a substance that needs Nitrogen and nitrates?
