If you buy a used AMD card that was mined on, best of luck... you’ll likely have to do some bios tweaks.

If you got a mined Nvidia card like a GTX series you are likely going to get a card that will last a long time. Why? Because #1 you cannot do anything to the bios.
#2 GPU Boost....
A miner would normally under volt their card by setting the max power setting low. This would also reduce the max temperature setting down to 50-60C. They set an overclock of about 150-200MHz Core and 500-700MHz RAM.
Here’s the difference. A BONE STOCK GTX 1070 Ti such as what I have will automatically overclock the core up to almost 1900MHz without you doing anything. It will keep that clock speed until you get to 80C (which is still fine)...
A miner GPU will be overclocked to 1750-1800MHz and be around 50-60C with fan speeds near max.

So in the long run a stock Nvidia GTX or RTX will be running at a lesser capacity while it’s mining then if it were running games. The fans might break down the road but that’s a lot better than the GPU blowing up.

lol when miners overclock to max profits, most cards have the highest effcentc at lower than stock clock speeds, and have really low power draw at them, power costs money they have to realize this

It's sad how scamming and crypto cards can be a real turn-off for buying used parts. If there were no such things people (including me) would buy a lot more used. What's not to like about taking old parts that someone doesn't need and put them to good use for someone who can actually use them.

I recently got BURNED on a E-bay purchase from a seller that claimed it was TESTED and WORKING. He had a GOOD rating as well. I did notify the seller but unfortunately NO REFUNDS were available to me. Lesson learned. “No more used PC parts for me”

Avoid EBAY . Most sellers are in no way obligated to sell properly working cards. Most often they were Over clocked while they were using it. Some return the clock speed back to it's factory settings , but by then they have had double the wear for the time they were used. Some sell out right Burnt cards . This is true for most hardware sold on EBAY.

Also overclocking reduces profits for miners. It’s all about the return vs the cost of electricity. Efficiency is king when mining.

Warranty? Oh come on. You are either dealing with a defective product or you aren't.
I have recovered several GTX 1060 models from the brink of death by adding some heatsinks to the memory modules (it really confused me how many different models had more than half of their memory modules just plain naked without any cooling).
Also, if the crypto miner in question knew what he/she was doing, I'll definitely buy a card from them. Of course, these are not exactly common.

Used graphics cards and cpu's are two things I would always buy new, sure you can get some great used deals but I always see red flags, great video though.

For me personally I just bought my gpu used on ebay. It was a pretty good rx 580 oc edition for 144$ as opposed to damn near 200 bucks for regular new prices. You can likely get an even better deal
