Hi community .anybody knows which terminal and Terminal font specially is used in video?
ОтветитьI have tried installing this, but after running makepkg and getting the name of the file that makepkg produces (aura-bin 3.2.7-1), it says 'target not found'
What is the name of the file it produces? The console says:
```Finished making: aura-bin 3.2.7-1```
damn this looks better than paru...
ОтветитьI disagree with the 2nd def. I love arch linux and have installed it many times. but manjaro dpkgs are way better
ОтветитьI need that shirt, can I have that shirt… GIVE ME THAT SHIRT
ОтветитьThe T-Shirt really made the video look better.
ОтветитьJust tried this out. After attempting to run sudo aura -Au, I just get this message: aura >>= As of makepkg v4.2, building as root is no longer possible.
ОтветитьJust voted for brave now as you told me that I can do that, had NO idea :)
ОтветитьI speak Swahili, and that T-shirt's definition... 🤔
ОтветитьNew to Arch, actually to Linux and this is very useful!
And yes, I, a noob installed Arch from scratch, it ain't hard people.
yet another package manager
YAPM
Okay yeah cool project, I'll still be using paru though.
ОтветитьWhy isn't this included in pacman
ОтветитьSo, I guess I'll try starting with Aura instead of pacman next time I clean install arch...
Ответить"Don't worry about Haskell."
250+ MB of useless archives, so I can skip one step in installing AUR packages.
Installed Aura after this video :)
ОтветитьThe problem of AUR is lack of security.
ОтветитьThis looks cooler than paru.
But haskell :((
Been through that before with pacaur etc. Then I settled with yay so far. But aura seems to look like a nice alternative. Thanks for the callout!
ОтветитьI tried to install htim and gave my computer permission to uninstall htop, but it's still here. What's going on?
ОтветитьDT never reviewed Qubes OS, did he? I´d love to see him try to live with it for a while and -most of all - trying to make it work with a tilling WM.
ОтветитьShould we learn and use nftables everywhere?
ОтветитьOof, that shirt hit me. I admit, I'm too lazy for Arch from scratch.
ОтветитьFYI on paru you can remove an aur package and it's dependencies using -c/--cascade option
ОтветитьAs a normal user, why would I install Arch Linux by taking up considerable amount of my time when I can install the same thing with some minor differences without going through all the tedious command lines process? Manjaro is very forward setting up and getting started right away.
ОтветитьI use ARCH Ubuntu
ОтветитьWhy does Pamac never get any love? Its the AURH I use and its never done me wrong.
ОтветитьI wish paru will give same features one day 🥺🥺🥺🥺
ОтветитьIdk why they taught us like…cobol in my cs program and didn’t mention haskell once!!
ОтветитьActually, I'd challenge you on your system being "bloated" because there's a lot of packages. As you say, it comes from all those windows managers and their dependencies. But that is not bloat - that is stuff you are actually using. My own system has 1162 packages, and it is bloated. Because I know a good chunk of that is actually stuff I am not using and I should get around to cleaning that shit up. :P
Just to react to the notion that "lots of stuff = bloat". It's only bloat if it's not useful. :P
(Then again, I also suspect that I have one of the most unbloated Gnome sessions on the planet after the fanatical cleaning session I put my systems through to get it down to BSPWM-level RAM usage. :P There's just a whole lot of other random garbage I should clean up after random saturday tinkering session number 422...)
I starting installing aura at the start of the video, and I'm still installing at the end of the video...
Only 4 GB of dependencies so far. lulz.
*GNU* /Linux?! :P
ОтветитьI been using aura for well over a year now. Been really good so far. I use aura-bin and compile my own xmonad with stack. I develop in Haskell and avoid the arch Haskell packages just due to size and conflicts.
ОтветитьHey DT, what do you think about *Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC*? I think this has never been talked about. :)
Ответитьwhat can aura do or can do better than paru?
ОтветитьWhat do you think about Exherbo distro?
Ответить1882 packages - a very bloated system :D i was thinking about mine and had a smile.
Ответитьwhere can i buy that shirt ?
ОтветитьThis snapshot feature makes me wonder if a config-file-based AUR package manager exists (a bit like NixPkgs, but for AUR). Could be very useful for dotfiles
ОтветитьParu 4tw. Rust or bust.
ОтветитьBruh just because it uses it uses haskell dosnt mean u have to use it
Ответитьjust use paru,no need to shit the system with haskel
ОтветитьI want that shirt lol
ОтветитьHey DT,
The problem with Haskell is it has too much dependencies not that it has dependencies. When installing aura it has 100+ dependencies.
my packages arent orphans so much as seasonal workers whose deets i keep on file so i don't have to rehire them every time
Ответитьpacman handles orphans
Ответитьdoesn't tell you how untrustworthy brave is
Ответить
