To be fair in my Russia game spain colonized all of Australia by 1600s (Historically it was fully colonized in 1800s) And the rest of the world was completely colonized by 1650s. EU4 colonization is just broken in most aspects. You can occupy every province in Iberia and you'll get like 30% warscore because of massive colonies. In reality spain lost its colonies after Napoleon's invasion.

Gotta admit, the trick with selling the province was kinda smart

Why didn't you at the very beginning create a federation of all countries, except for your neighbors, at the expense of which you would expand? Usually you can create a federation of 9-10 countries, which gives a huge increase in federal reforms. Thus, even before the end of the transition to the horde, you would have managed to complete all the federal reforms and unite all their lands.

The ai absolutely targets the player. I played a new world Leon exodus campaign and it seemed like everyone with a coast went colonial, including the Mamluks and Ottomans!

Thanks for confirming a suspicion I've had for years. Yes, the AI does follow you. It happened with me and France in my game as Denmark. France rarely colonises a lot, or at all, but in my Denmark into Scandinavia game (to get the new achievements) they kept colonising everything and I had to fight a very scary France multiple times. Very painful.
And also usually depending on where you play, I also get the feeling that one of the big guys next to you gets buffed. Because, for example, when I play far away from the Ottomans (like in Japan or something), they don't blob out too much. But when I play next to them, oh boy. I'll never forget having to fight an Ottoman empire that had EVERYTHING from Egypt, Yemen and Ethiopia all the way up to Moscow and Novgorod =D Now I always crush them the first chance I get. They're so annoying lol

As Leinster you must disband HRE, under 10 years if you can.
