For the siege bells, theres very clearly a mechanism displayed for the weight, and Id bet it works like a car jack. [Theres a fifth 'leg' in the rendition, as well as a circular piece carved aligned at the top of the siege bell]

I'd never heard of the book before, but it's a truly beautiful and utterly remarkable manuscript of credible technologies and techniques.

One thing's for sure, violence, savagery and death were the order of the day!

The women in combat scenes were astonishing, particularly for the time of their writing.

Bethany Hughes is some kinda wonderful woman: smart, very well educated, sexy and all woman.

Seeing Terry Jones look so hale and hearty brought a few tears to my eyes. To see someone that brilliant brought down by dementia was so tragic.😭

Unlike Leonardo’s drawings of implements of warfare and destruction Tallhoffer’s engines actually worked. I’m totally impressed! And to give women a chance to meet their abusive husbands, rapists, men who stole or took their dowries and businesses by devious and/or illegal means by a special one on one judicial combat to demand retribution that they were trained for beforehand was brilliant! Perhaps we modern women should take a page out Tallhoffer and start to carry large stones in heavy duty pillowcases or bags along with pepper spray and mace when walking at night or in areas we don’t know or don’t know well. Thanks for the fascinating, instructive and occasionally funny video. Who says that the Middle Ages were boring???

I used to do historical swordfighting for 10 years, and I like that in Talhofer you can see that all attacks should end up where oponents body is. Thats why I find Star Wars fights so stupid, coz there they keep swinging all over the place around the oponent, or attacking oponents sword.

The misleading language used in this video is disappointing. The suggestion that there's evidence other than the drawings is dishonest, and unsurprisingly so.

"Harness" is a mistranslation of south german/swiss Harnisch. It means armor. I read medieval german, dutch, french.
Tallhofer can be translated as farm owner in a valley. Not the best land.

The most effectiveway to plant the bomb would be to place it while the attacking party was far off and have a stealthy small number of men place it/set it off before the siege force gets within sight. within 30 minutes or an hour they could have the assaulting force attack the damaged wall or door. /Better yet would be a multiple small forces place them at multiple locations before the attack in force is in sight.

The man must have been restricted from grabbing the woman's weapon as if he was allowed, any man would grab and not let go; either pulling it from her or using it to pull her in closer for a kill.

feels like a dystopian story. the suit looks like a cultist wear. i think the dystopian story nowadays were inspired from roman or medieval stories. authoritarian world.. scarce resources... where the man who owns larger lands reign, specially those ancestral lands and that of when someone claims that he owns the land from his ancestor.. by title thru his name and his blood.. which may results to monarchy.
